I went to the Ft. Mill show at the beginning of the season and didn't notice it then nor at Quarterfinals. Deos the Bluecoats' drum staff still jump up and down in the middle of the drum line circle as their on-field warmup? One of my favorite pre-show rituals!

Wait, you could hear what they were saying over the booing? :P
-
The show was definitely better than I expected. When the horn line plays, it's the BD that's won 11 rings. But after a minute they keep going to the stupid narration! Come on, let 'em play!

I sure would like to see a fleur-de-lis at the end, but the ending last night was alright with me because it seemed like it was far better than the soft ending everyone talked about mid season.
-
In Garner everyone started booing until they posted the graphic with the right score. That tech guy should be sacked ^0^
-
Our drum tech in high school likes to say that in Cavies '02 at the end of the Fight Club scene the guard guy in the center goes ".... oh ####" :P

Many more band kids will find out about drum corps after the ESPN2 broadcast :)

I was at NightBeat as well, and I attended their afternoon rehearsal block. I am in love with this show, I was so amped after they performed. (AND the high mark time to march off, nice!) But Crown went right after them (my second viewing of Crown this year), and they are absolutely on fire. I do not see SCV beating Crown in the end despite how much I love this show.
I WOULD, however, like to see SCV make a move on Boston, I didn't like Boston's show so much in late June.

Madison and Phantom make 1.1 and 0.9 jumps in Effect and the Bluecoats.... don't. :(
C'MON BLOOOOOOOO!

Wow, tight races. I expect some shakeups tomorrow in Indy!
But man, the Bluecoats are still getting destroyed in Visual...

Maybe it's like announcers at shows trying to say "Spirit of Atlanta" :P

DCI can make it harder to manipulate. They probably can't make it fool proof. It might be better to hand out voting slips (like MLB does for its All-Star game) at each DCI sponsored show. Handed out as you enter the gate, collected as you leave the show. No one could fill out too many in that scenario, and the show sponsors would have to return all filled and unfilled ballots to DCI.
Good idea, but I think we had to know the top 8 from San Antonio before voting on order.
I like the idea of random draw, less fan interaction but just as interesting. Lol, imagine the Cavaliers opening up a show! b**bs

4. Bluecoats
5. Madison
6. Phantom
7. Carolina Crown
8. Santa Clara
9. Boston Crusaders
10. Glassmen
11. Spirit
12. Colts

Yum, Pachelbel.
I played this in my car for some friends. They're band kids, but not really the marching band/drum corps types. Their expressions were priceless after that sound goes from barely audible to huge. (I have to turn it down during the impact 'cause the opening phrases are so soft) There isn't a show for me that has more energy and emotion that Phantom '03.
Yes, sometimes was over zealous, but I'll take that over a safe performance any day.
Has anyone else noticed...

Well, they're Super Bowl champs for a reason: Foxboro is THE toughest place to play on the road :) Crappy field = bad day for Peyton Manning
