  1. I personally like the changes that are happening in show design over the past years.  Could you image if DCI truly stayed "traditional".  I personally would hate to watch drumlines mowing the 50, symetrical drill, no existing pit percussion, marching tympani lines, and color guards that had to put there flags some harness type thing.

DCI was once looked at by marching bands as the innovators of this activity.  If we keep bashing corps for pushing the envelope then corps will be looking to high school marching bands for what is innovative.

I am in favor of amplification and if a corps wants to do narration then go ahead and do it.  DCI will not lose fans over this.  The truth is this, most high school programs that feed these corps with their members come from high school programs that use amplification and sometimes narration.

When I was in corps in the late 80's early 90's I was a tympani player.  Do you think I would have rather been "traditional" and been in a marching tympani line?  The answer would be HECK NO!!!!!!

These younger people do not see amplification as a problem and neither will corps members 5 or 10 years from now.  These current members will be the future fans.  The true "traditionalists" that are against amplification will eventually become out numbered by those who see amplification as the norm and the anti-amplification people will turn into the DCI dinosuars.

These kids that are performing now with amplification are working their butts off so people like us can be entertained.  What sucks the most about that is that they are doing what is normal for them because they have been do this in their high school programs.  Stop bashing on what is now the norm for these kids.

Get over it and except change.  If I see another anti-amplification petition at DCI finals in Boston I will start a pro-amplification petition.

Here is an idea.  Lets get the lists of all of the people who sign the anti-amplification petition and give them a special DCI 2005 Championships "traditionalist" audio package.  Since they are so against change when they order the DVD's and CD's they will get the exclusive "traditionalist" package of LP (which can only fit 4 corps on it) and a BETA video.

Some of us don't mind the amps so much, as the narration. So, hypothetically speaking, say I signed the anti-amp petition....doesn't mean I'm a 'traditionalist'. I love the direction corps have gone, for the most part. So, would there be a 'middle of the road' package available for me? :P

  2. (twilling rifles or flags is not sensual) Let me correct you on a few things here. I'm going to assume you meant twirling. That being said, most guard members prefer the term 'spinning'. Now, as for rifles and flags not being sensual, I beg to differ. Have you ever seen the Alliance of Miami Winterguard? Oooozing sensuality. State Street Review? Sensuality. Blasts version of Carmen? Sensuality. The list can go on and on, but I think you get the picture.

  3. If you want, I'll ask my husband,he's already modified the picture of Gail Royer and George B. doing the rifles. He wants to know if that is the original, or if it's blown up too big? Here is the pix of George B. and Gail Royer that Nancy had he fixed...

If you read one of my earlier posts, I said that since I don't have a scanner, I had to take a digital pic of a pic I already had. Now, as for it being hugemongus, I don't know why it 'grew'. I didn't change the size or anything. BUT, if your hubby can help, WOO HOO!!!!

  4. Quote:   WOW...What a beautie!!!!!!!!

It's spelled "beauty," and even through the blurred picture I would have to agree!

SCV always had fine women in their corps since, well, The Sparks, and this lady proves that....why do you think there were so many visits from South (Kingsmen)  to North (Vanguard) via Air California back in the day?   A rhetorical question, by the way.

And I can assure you that the women of The Kingsmen were (and are still) stunners in their own right.

*whispering* If you promise not to tell anyone, I marched in the Kmen in 1988...shhhhhh :sshh:

I forgot to thank you for the nice compliment! So, Thank you! I know the pix suck, that's what happens when you don't have a scanner...sorry!
