  1. Are you really complaining about not being able to get tickets high and in the middle 10 days before the event? That show was announced in January. Everyone has been saying since it was announced that if you didn't get your tickets early would get bad seats if you got any at all. If you want good seats to a show don't wait until the week before the show to order. Plan a little in advance next time.

  2. Those pics are from 1983, although the 1984 unis for the drumline were very similar - just different gauntlets. Seems like I remember someone saying that the purple sleeve was supposed to symbolize a missing, or "phantom" limb. I guess you would have to ask Cesario, since it was his design.

The split-shell, or "HV" snares debuted in 1981 and were used through 1984. In 1985, the first year with Pearl, there were holes drilled around the drum between the lug casings. Normal shells in 1986, then the HV shell came back with Marty Hurley in 1987 and lasted through 1991.

The split shells didn't come back until '89 and I believe we had them through '92. Starting in '93 we used Premier percussion.

  3. Marched two years of drum corps before I ever even picked up a band instrument. Did one year of marching band in high and switched to orchestra the next year as the high school mar4ching band was SSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lame. End up being in a orchestra brass section that included 3 other people that I marched Regiment with. Needless to say the orchestra pieces we played showcased the brass section predomintantly. Trumpet, French horn, Trombone and Tuba that all marched a D1 finalist corps.

  4. I would not go into the season expecting a reprise of anything from the '95 season. Yes, the Rachmaninoff piece is in the retetoire but I wouldn't expect to hear anything sounding like the '95 version if I was you.

If you want to hear the music, the corps will be rehearsing in the Rockford area for the next 4 1/2 weeks. Come on out and hear it for yourself.

  5. Actually, everyone that heard what was said about the show for the upcoming season was told to not disclose the information. All corps have the right to withhold any information they desire regarding the future seasons shows. If Regiment wishes to not have the information made public (which they do) it is their right to do so. Having been at the meeting when the information that has been announced was announced I can tell you for certain that 95% of the info in this thread is incorrect. No music has been decided with 100% certainty as the storyline has not yet been finalized. When the corps is ready for the public to know about the show they will release that information on their website. Until then all of you can guess and speculate about the show until you are blue in the face. The only accurate posts thus far are the ones that state nothing has been announced or decided and that this thread needs to be closed as it is based purely on rumor and speculation which DCP does not allow.

  6. Until Regiment officially announces anything regarding the 09 show this is all rumor and speculation. The last I had heard neither the music nor the storyline had been decided on yet. At this time no one can say that any specific piece will be used in the show. There are still a few dozen pieces being considered. The only things that can be confirmed is that both the drumline and hornline will be competing strongly for the Sanford and Ott trophies and that the staff will attempt to produce yet another show that is of the standards we have come to expect from them in the last few years.

  7. Not all of these people moved to a comparable position. Adam Sage moved from design to cleaner. I am not sure that Jenifo moved to a position of the same level she was previously. Some of these moves are due to failure at the position they were previously at. These moves are not all lateral moves responsibilty wise. Lest we forget that Jenifo has been fired from virtually every position she has held. She has been let go by PR, Madison and almost all high school positions she has held. Adam Sage has been let go by PR and SCV. Adam Sage's new position is not designer position like he held previously.

  8. I don't know if that sign is stealable. It is in one of the highest traffic areas in the city and is right next to the road. Might a bit of a too high profile area to get away with it. I would love to see it stolen so that the inconsistencies can be fixed but I fear that if it disappeared it would not be replaced.

Either way, I drove to Rockford yesterday and made sure that I got to see it. It will be a great thing come camp weekends when the kids come into the Clock Tower and get to see it while enroute to the rehearsal site.

  9. Angie is totally right. We were brilliant at semis and really crapped it at finals, and we really did know it.

But after 10th the year before, no one was crying about 5th.

Along with winning the US open, our other big win that year was tieing Cadets for the win at DCI Canada.

My most vivid memory of that summer was near the end of every rehearsal before we did our run thru, Brazale would yell "FIRST 5, LAST 5!" and we would run the first 5 sets and last 5 sets of the show 3 or 4 times.

If you have seen the show, but never noticed, the last 5 moves are the same as the first 5 only in reverse.

I thought is was first 6 and last 6. Also I remember always hearing 1, 3 & 5 when we were on the starting line.

Was that year that we lost to BD at South by like .1 due to a penalty for being on the field for too long? If it was then we would have beaten/tied the 2 corps that had won the previous 4 championships within a matter of 2 weeks after we placed 10th the previous year. Of course it didn't hurt that all but I believe 4 people on the staff from '86 were replaced prior to '87.

If I remember correctly, we won Brass as prelims that year. On our video yearbook from that year there is an all highcam video of our prelims show. I think that was the only time all year the soprano runs in opener hit like that. Unfortunately, those runs kinda set the tone forthe rest of the show and we blew chunks at finals. I remember that it felt like "horse hockey" at finals. Then Tim fracked the solo, Gretchen lost her skirt during the show.

  10. they use to brag as being 'Rockford’s roaming musical ambassadors' or something like that until some cheap trick made them stop using it

I don't believe that to be true. Back in the late 70's & early 80's the members of Cheap Trick were great supporters of the corps. It was not uncommon for them to make appearances at unofficial corps events (i.e parties). I believe they are still officially considered Rockfords Roving Ambassadors. I believe the title just sort of died out over the years.
