  1. Why do these shows start so late? Giants Stadium starts at 7:30 pm on a Sunday night, scores are at 10:20 without any delays, why not start at 5pm? 6pm? Some people do work and do want to travel a distance to see the show.

So if people work and travel, wouldn't that make it difficult to get to a show at 5pm?!?!?!?!?!??!

  2. But I don't want a musical focus. I want my shows to be a blend of music and visual. It's that blend that separates this activity from brass choirs, or wind ensembles, or whatever. If I listen to a field show on CD and it feels incomplete then I shouldn't be surprised: it is incomplete. As long as the show comes together when viewed live, then that's fine.

    Preach on brotha!

  3. If everyone sounded dirty due to the webcast then that would be one thing. But there were lots of clean notes coming through, and I heard MUCH less dirt from Crown than I did from Cadets, and overall I thought Crown's book was harder with harder drill. With that said, ya it's never the same in person, so I definitely know what you mean.

Clean notes is one thing, demand is another, esp at this point of the year. Next time you see cadets, check out all the up beat entrances in the pit, split rhythms all over the place, pretty tough stuff

  4. I think people are looking at this the wrong way. It's not about marching geometric drill. It's not about a certain type of brass playing. It's not about original music or fight clubs or any of that. Their success and their impact has hinged on the total audio/visual coordination of the product. Sure, other championship corps have done this too, to varying degrees of success, but I've never seen anything like what they've done during their run. Nearly every single year, I'm left walking away saying that they have the best coordinated product on the field. Every audio/visual effect maximized, no bad transitions, perfect staging of elements and audio/visual focus. This is not to say they are without their faults, but one can say the same for any championship corps, even those who have made the biggest impacts over the years. Regardless, nobody can deny that their consistency over the past ten years has been more than impressive.

You my friend, have the correct answer.
