Good to see old time Madison getting some love! They were so great in the 70s and 80s.

I don't see how a list of "old school" corps can include Star of Indiana.
And not include Chicago Royalaires!

The Crossmen one is good. I really miss the 1990s Crossmen uniform. Nice job.

Where is the 'all of the above' button??????????????????????

This is the Toronto Optimists (I think ?) later in 1976 to be known as the Seneca Optimists. But I could be wrong.
Loved Seneca. Never saw Toronto Optimists live, but great to see a photo.

Yes Dutch Boy have had some very beautiful young ladies in their guards over the years and the unifroms they wore helped to enhance their beauty.

Go to www.dutchboydrumcorps.com

go into the photo section
click on 'years past'
Enjoy!!
Good to see some old photos. Thanks for sharing.

Mr. Willis,
Just FYI, it was 81 and 82 and it was not Rainbow it was Softly as I leave You.
But thanks!!! I think one of the biggest crowd responses EVER was in Montreal and the corps hesitated just before the famous step over. I wasn't there but friends of mine who marched that year said the crowd reaction was deafening on the field.
I was there in 1981 and it was absolutely fantastic! One of the most emotional things to happen in this activity.

Still difficult seeing the Troopers on that list.
Has anyone mentioned the California Dons?
Loved the Dons!!

I heard America O'Canada last year live for the first time, and I was amazed how beautiful it sounded. This year I heard Champions Fanfare and was also amazed, but only athow horrible it sounded and how much I disliked it <**> . Bring back America O'Canada ^OO^
Why did America/OCanada go away anyway? Change for change sake? Lets make things better if we are going to change things folks!

I'd like to request having them in my back yard--please?
If thats the case, can I stay in your guest room? I like to be close to the stadium. :P

Great corps and a promising future.

NMD's!!!!!NMD's!!!!!NMD's!!!!!NMD's!!!!!NMD's!!!!!
(No More Domes!)
As much as I agree with no more domes, I see this as an attractive alternative for the powers who be.

Lightweights ^0^ . Here are the temperatures we had this week in Wichita. Mon = 108, Tue = 107, Wed = 107, Thu = 109. I was at both Miami and Atlanta, and they were a cakewalk compared to here.
1988 Kansas City was a scorcher too!

Oakland Crusaders!!!!!!!! One of my favorites!!! Thanks for sharing. I had a horn instructor who marched with them in 75 and 76.
-
The South in August. It is horrible! I feel so sorry for the corps whenever they have to go to through the South. We had DCI in Miami (83) and Atlanta (84). I would never go back to either city during the summer HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
1983 was pretty brutal!

If you liked 1992, you should try 1988. As Felix the cat was fond of saying: "You'll Laugh So much, your sides will ache, your heart will go pitter pat.."
Not only was the corps very funny in 1988, they performed really well. Great hornline and good drumline. My favorite years of VK were 88 and 92. Funny shows but very good drum corps too!!!!
-
I understand the sound issue but with amping I say reduce the pit and increase the horn line or even better the drum line. ^OO^
Boooooooooooo! :P

just a thought....I saw that it was only $25 to ride a bus from Madison to Chicago (can't remember which company)....flights from there might be a little easier....
This bus company is called Van Galder Bus co. They provide service from Madison to O'Hare. $25 one way, 3 hours one way. Here is a link.

Badger bus runs from Madison to Milwaukee airport several times every day.
$19 one way and you dont have to do the driving!!! They even leave from the Memorial Union on the UW campus. Walking distance from the Stadium. They have prices, schedules and more info on their website. I have used this service many times. The buses are clean, safe and run pretty much on a good schedule.

1988 Blue Devils. Depth, sound, cleanliness, volume, tone, intonation, control, they had it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And soloists to boot!
-
From how I've been understanding from here, there is no RANKING of corps. Judges aren't suppose to. They are just to decide on the box they are in and RARE accordingly.
Yeah right!!!!!!!!

I would say colts have the best shot to make it in, other than the corps in your groups. I wish Crossmen would make finals but at this point that seems like a long shot. I see Devils taking it all. I hope Phantom is in the top three. I see SCV moving up the ranks from last year and Glassmen could certainly push into group 3.
BlueCoats winning a championship

Im not sure this is necessarily a question of whether or not the corps will be good enough to win, as will the corps have the political power to be named the champion. I think in the next couple of years you will see the corps consistenly finish in the top 5 and establish themselves in this group. I think they are well managed and have the foundation to maintain this level for several years. I think it is a matter of paying their dues in this group. Look what it took Phantom to take home their first championship, after being sooooo close so many times. Is the activity ready to have a new champion? That is the question, and will the powers who be let this happen?
