  1. This was done so that we could retain our membership by having DCA sanctioned shows. At the infamous "Vote for Growth" meeting at the beginning of the year, the rules determining eligibility were streamlined to make it easier for regions to hold DCA sanctioned shows. Different from the seeding stuff.

I discovered during the 105 non-billable hours I spent researching the post you responded to here that someone may have too much time on their hands. That would be me. Have a great weekend! See ya in Rochester!

  2. seeding was by the highest score of the year in any sanctioned DCA contest... the exception rule places a member corps without a seed score in the "Position" they were in at last year's finals... so this year it takes care of the California corps..

this is an amazing lineup... can't wait...

I'm still confused, especially considering the following comment from the Announcements forum:

"As of this past week the Sunnyvale & Modesto Show are now DCA sanctioned. Dream & Renegades have been working behind the scenes to get this done."

    Here's a link to the thread: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...244&t=96270

Nothing against the California corps, I love SC & 'gades! I certainly thank you all for travelling so far. I just have a headache... but it'll be fine by prelims!

  3. My three favorite memories of last season all have something to do with rain!

Third was the joyous performance we did at Sound of the South after having to leave the field in the middle of our first performance that night. Getting to perform after driving to Arnold, MD and facing the possibility of being rained out was phenomenal. Plus, you all (and the Hurricanes) were wonderful to us. I hope we'll have better weather for you in Nashville, Dick!

Second was the impromptu concert for the Bridgemen Alumni. I already posted earlier in this thread how much that meant. That you returned to this thread after all these months means even more, John!

Without out the first, the private concert for the Bridgemen would never have happened. Getting to march our entire show at the Alumni Spectacular (because of technical problems--in addition to the wind and rain of hurricane Ernesto) was the cherry on our season. (Did that make the Bridgemen the whipped cream--hmmm...) The crowd at the Alumni show was many times the size of the "crowd" at prelims (although you few were very appreciative)! We cheered like we had made finals when we were asked how we'd like to perform the next day. OK, some of thought we did. Some way. Somehow. Some... never mind.

These were all about unexpected opportunities to entertain. This year we're all chompin' at the bit to get back to Rochester, but we're definitely going to enjoy all the shows along the way. See you all in Rochester--by way of Nashville!

  4. Hey, it's the Bridgemen! Good God, they're stopping to listen! Dang this is awesome!

The opportunity to perform on finals day (if not in the finals) was a wonderful treat. Not only did we get to do a dry performance, we got to meet the REAL DEAL, classic old-school alumni from all the corps that we've followed (in my case) from the mid-70's! I will never forget that day. Thanks for all the good wishes and compliments. We'll do our best to uphold and grow the tradition.

  5. Even with the scores as they were and an itinerary from heck to haul our butts up there and back in time to get back to work, I had an awesome time! I'm a rookie with MCL and a newbie to drum corps, and I had the time of my life getting to know my own corps better and meeting some really wonderful people in Minnesota. The weather was beautiful, and I'm starting to get a feel for DCA. Overall I had a blast in spite of the scores. Am I competitive? Just ask some of my bros and sistas from MCL! We can't wait to get to atcha all in Rochester! Just because we're doing our darndest to kick your butts doesn't mean we don't love you!

  6. OK.... to clarify this:

"Member" corps are corps that are members of DCA.

"Affiliate" corps are corps that are affiliates of DCA.

"Non-affiliate" corps are corps that are not affiliates of DCA.

I hope this clears up any confusion. ^0^

I keep reading and hearing all these wonderful things about you, but you have a mischievious side...

  7. Roger that.

You did great and will fit right in with the rest of us lunatics.

BTW what is the name of the program you got for your PDA and where do you purchase one??/

I really felt at home with all of you. I told my wife that no one else wore socks. She's always wondered why I avoid them so much. She wonders if socks inhibit creativity. Sounds like a topic for further research (of questionable usefulness).

The tuner app is called Perfect Pitch. It's available for PalmOS and Windows Mobile handheld devices. It's also available for Windows 98/2000/XP. You can get it at http://www.fiftycycle.com. If you recall, it tended to pick up partials on some lower pitches. It's so accurate on higher pitches that I suspect it may be a problem with the mike on my handheld (which I just got a few of weeks ago.) I don't recall having the problem on my iPaq. I'm using a Dell Axim X50v now. Other than the microphone limitation, it's a beautiful device. I don't expect a problem for trumpet/sopranos. Oh, you can download a demo.

Please remember to send me info on that concert. Thanks.

  8. No I have a bad wheel bearing in the rear (anybody that road with me last year knows what i'm talking about) and the bolt that connects the lower controll arms to the nuckle is seized to the inners of the bushings. Parts are on order.....

to make things worse, the dealership told me it would be cheaper to bring in the car then it would to bring in just the nuckle, because they can change the bearings with everything still on the car ><

oh its a black 98L coupe

Looks great. Black is the beginning... Nice WRX wheels.

I hit 130,000 miles tonight. Bought some Toyos a few months ago.

  9. Oo you can't bring the scooby, i had the only scooby in the corps :(

well mine may not be there, its in a million pieces right now :(

    7 year old bolts SUCK!!!!!!!

Dude! You drive a Scooby AND you play baritone? You must be my long, lost brother. What's up with your Scooby? A bolt broke so you decided to drop in a turbo kit?

What about a horn for open house? Both of mine are Bb (and one has a slide). Will MCL have a G bugle for me? What should I expect at open house? Will we march? (Love those fundamentals... really!) What kind of audition should I expect? Will I need to lay down some money to check out the horn? Sorry about the query storm. I'm a little excited...
