  5. Alumni or competition...

The most important award for a corps is the fans appreciation.

I am in favor of any kind of award based on a well organized vote from the fans.

Since this seems to be turning into another competition their should be judging for Guard, Percussion, Brass and GE . Combine that score with the fans score to to determine the winner. Their should also be some sort of early balloting to let the fans decide who they want to see in competition . All others need not apply.

  6. ar you really comparing BVP to production companies like Paramount and 20th Century Fox? :worthy:

    Dude, come on now...

Not at all. It’s just that they perceive themselves as a professionally run operation and people would expect more than a mom and pop type of product. I don’t understand how the band crowd accepts this level of quality that’s all. Quality of a video can be explaned because conditions but editing and format one would think would be straight forward .

  7. BVP is obviously using non professional-standard equipment when producing the DVD's. I wish I could say we get what we pay for, but we really don't. We get screwed with a half-###ed product because there are simply less customers interested in DCA enough to buy our videos.

The DCI vid's are done by seasoned professionals, and are produced extremely well, with a TON of planning involved. DCI's budget is a lot more than DCA's, there are A LOT more people buying the DCI vid's, so the cost is lower and they get a better quality product.

There's more to it than this, but I'm tired of ranting about BVP. Fact is, they suck at what they do. Moran wasn't any better. I wish we could have the company that produced the 1996 DCA videos again...

According to their website they expect to videotape over 400 Marching Band performances , with that in mind I would expect everyone is getting and inferior product. It just baffles me that I've rented lots of DVD's and tapes from Blockbuster and never had a problem.
