  1. You can't synchronize drill with music when your brass doesn't play for 4 minutes straight. It's just "choreography" . Then when they play, they have a seat.....like my high school band kids do everyday in class.

BD does what they do well, but I'm not drinking the blue kool-aid.

Honestly I thought Cadets had the hardest show last year which is why they finished 3rd...they couldn't get it clean in time.

Yes, your kids sitting for an hour during concert band rehearsal is the same thing as a drum corps sitting down for a portion of their show. I'm glad that you agree that that is a perfect analog.

  2. For the record, I enjoy coming on here late at night when all of the east coast has gone to bed just to argue with BD fans and supporters! It makes my day! ;-P

I just wanna let ya'll know....I was pulling for ya in 06....and really thought you had a pretty good show in 08 even though I cheered when PR won.

I think BD should do the 2000 show again.....that show any other year would have won it all.

Not a BD fanboy, just someone that realizes that demand is not something that fans can easily calculate. You think the show was easy? Pick up the horn yourself and then we can talk.

  3. Dude did you see our drill? Our dots were all over the place. Our visual package looked like Rocky's face after he fought the Russian.

As someone who marched a couple of years of corps, if you can't recognize the demand and difficulty that went into BD's show last year, you are either borderline ######## or just one of those people that marches multiple years of corps but doesn't recognize that demand goes beyond how high the tempos are (which, FYI, BD marched at a faster tempo than anyone in DCI in 2009 - 236) and how hard you want to make the drill look. Synchronicity is difficult, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that since the corps you marched never actually got clean.

  4. Ok let's see....I'm sitting on the crapper right now...let me stand up! OK, CLOSING MY EYES.....sitting down. YUP made it! Let me do it again .....slowly..... YUP MADE IT AGAIN!

Congratulations on marching an 11th place corps. Your jealousy and complete inability to understand the demands that go into todays' shows really shines through.

  5. I have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to the Blue Devils and it's really not fair. It all stems from 2008 when the Regiment won championships. What is the song they play after all the scores are read? Well, whatever it is Blue Devils were obviously ###### and were hitting wrong notes, loudly, left and right. In all fairness this probably was just a few jack offs that couldn't take it. But I really lost respect for the organization that day.

  6. I agree fully! I was there ... I heard them ... I was one of the people booing ... and the boo's were loud. I wasn't booing the corps, but the score. It was ridiculous that they scored a 99.05 with a Visual score of 29.95. Blue Devils did not deserve that score last year. And, before you call me a Crown honk, I don't mean this because I feel Crown should've won. Points should have been taken away for the fact that for about 3 minutes of the show, they were standing or sitting and doing "body" (if you can to call it that) that any average person could sit down and do in their free time and it would only take them 5 minutes to learn it. Points should not be given for that. However, it seems to me that, lately, the Blue Devils can do no wrong. I bet they could go out on the field and perform the dirtiest show on record full of musical fail and dirty drill and the judges would give them a perfect score! Go back and watch the DVD's from last year. You'll see more than .05 worth of dirt in the visual aspect of that show. I even heard a rumor that the visual judge turned in his sheet before BD was done performing. Granted, that's only a rumor from someone who told me their friend's dad saw the judge do it. So, who know's if it's true.

BD marched better at finals than pretty much any corps I've ever seen live ever. I left the show and told my friends I would be ###### if they didn't get a perfect 20 in vs. performance. Frankly, I think you're crazy. Yowza, yowza, yowza.

  7. Bluecoats beating Crown isn't really anything new or extraordinary in the organizations history... In fact since the year 2000, Bluecoats have beaten Crown at finals 6 years out of 10. Crown only beat them in '00, '07, '08, and '09. While Coats came out on top in '01, '02, '03, '04, '05, and '06.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but Crown has beaten Bluecoats at finals (and throughout season, with the exception of '07) for the past three years. Are you saying beating a corps that barely missed out on a gold medal last year is not a big deal for what was a sixth-placed corps? I know you're a homer, but take a compliment when it's given to you.

  8. Wow. Good to see captions all over the place. Proves judges are really evaluating based on performance and not slotting. That said, this won't last for long, and I think in a couple of weeks one of these corps (who knows which one?) will be slotted above the rest. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the madness.

  9. The meanings of letters and words matter very little when compared to the value of shared experience and the knowledge that you will forever be a part of something larger than yourself. Language is arbitrary; belonging is not.

Exactly, which is why secrets such as these are silly, and I have no qualms about telling people them, or at least what I've heard they are.
