Well the 10th addition of the Cabs at the Beach season openers is in the books. My thanks go out to Mayor Troiano, the City of Wildwood , North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Lower Township parks and recreation for their continued support of the event. On behalf of the Caballeros organization I would like to thank all of the competing corps, you should all be proud of your accomplishment appearing in the first show of the year is not easy and you all put on great performances. Congratulation to the Buccaneers on their victory and best of luck to all the corps for the 2013 season. The Big winner last night was the Fans it looks like it is going to be a great year.

there wasn't a Wildwood show back on the schedule til what....2006?
After winning DCA in 2004 Empire made their first trip ever to Wildwood in 2005 (where they were dethroned by the Bucs) for what was the beginning of their amazing run... We went back in 2006 and 2007.. That was the last time the Statesmen where ever there.
I'm here now (not with the Statesmen Logo on my shirt anymore) but just excited to see all the Corps for the kick off to the 2012 Season. Best of luck to all attending!!

I would have thought there were contract provisions against stuff like this happening from jump street,..........?
If you need info on booking a small block with a special rate feel free to email directly at allengun@aol.com

Thank you Gil!! We were getting soaked on the field. I just am thankful the rain held off until retreat so the corps and the fans could enjoy finals.
On a side note and I still harass him for it: Allen Buell not only had his infamous umbrella with him, but had somebody actually holding it for him during retreat!! Way to go VP!
When I look at the photos from that "wet" night I do ask myself "Did I really have the County Executive hold the umbrella for me while I spoke"?????? Oh well... Still not as bad as the first year when I called the Mayor the wrong name in front of thousands of people... : )

She is locking in details today and will call me after lunch. I felt strange putting this out here with out final plans but she wanted me to round up as many people who wanted to play as possible. She said this is what Dick would want... Her TENTATIVE plan is calling on Thursday and Service on Friday... Stay tuned for final plans.

Peggy contacted me this AM and wanted to see if I knew anyone who wanted to take part in playing "Call of the Bulls" at Dick's Service.... If your interested email me at allengun@aol.com and I'll get you info. She wants anyone who is interested.

Updates in the Empire World!
The Empire Statesmen are proud to announce the introduction of our Indoor competitive Percussion line! Empire Indoor Percussion will begin its first season ever starting with an Open House on Sunday, October 24, 2010 located at the BINGO Palace, 341 Eastridge Road in Rochester, NY. The Indoor line will compete locally in the NYS Percussion Circuit, travel to two WGI Regionals and take part in the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
Audition dates will be in November and the season will kick into full gear later that month.
For more info or to fill out an online application head to http://www.statesmen.org
Thinking Drum Corps???? The Empire Statesmen are thinking the same thing. The 2011 staff is lined up and the show is in place. “Man in the Mirror” will take the field next summer in a way that only the Statesmen can provide. Open House for the new season is set for Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester, NY from 10am until 3pm.

Well said Tom! The entire weekend was indeed exceptional! Allen and his championship comittee once again outdid themselves!
To quote Tom once again: "Thank you, thank you thank you!"
Thanks much everyone.... THRILLED that it is over... but it was fun!!

So...since we only go to Finals Sunday night, we will have all of Sunday to do something in Rochester. Last year we did Niagara Falls, but this year we are looking for something else to do in/near Rochester...it can be fun, educational, active...we're open to suggestions....like we just saw this Haror Town Belle "Mark Twain" cruise...any other ideas? Thanks!

I like shameless plugs and I love Cabs Alumni. I really enjoyed your performance at your home show. It's very impressive when you have both the alumni and the competing corps performing together.
Can't wait to see you in Lewisburg.
Looking forward to seeing you Lois!!! Leaving at 12 Noon.... See you tomorrow!

Come to Jamestown on July 24th. to see Empire to the OZ again.
I'll come check it out Carl.....

A great time was had by all! Thanks for having us. Statesmen are indeed strong in all captions. They definitely will be contenders. I have to add they are very friendly folks and made us feel welcome. Thanks again.
Thanks to all the Corps and fans who came out to the Rochester Show! It was a great night. Sad that we did lose a member for the season who broke her ankle in the first few sets of the show and then FINISHED the entire production to the very end. Wow... what a strong young lady!!
-
anyone got any predictions??
Yes... Weather in Rochester will be PERFECT and a good time will be had by all.....
