  1. For as long as I can remember; the Blue Devils were never known for having high octane, high demand, drill. It's been music and performance first; drill second. They recruit excellent talent and maximize that talent to the fullest through...wait for it...smart show design. The design teams they've had, over the years, understand staging, musical effect, be it through straight up jazz or the more "out there shows" of current and they've never really had them running all over the field via complex forms and difficult pass throughs to embellish that talent.

There have been but a handful of Blue Devils shows that I've really enjoyed; but I respect what they do, as they have a proven formula to stay at the top.

Uh last year they ran like crazy people, especially in the opener.

  2. I know BD's staff has been around forever, but I almost get the sense from them that they are trying to do the opposite of what you said. Look at 2010 and 2012. How were those shows "tipping the hat" to drum corps that people love? If anything it was the designers telling the crowd they didn't matter. Sit on your hands all you want, we've got the judges eating out of our palms.

    Ugh, not this $%#% again...

  3. I think there's a difference between the law changing and some deep-pocketed company deciding that DCI's agreements to use their music don't actually allow DCI to offer non-live online video streaming. The latter seems to have happened, else DCI wouldn't be so rigid with the service offered this summer.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they just maybe, I don't know, told us why they made all the changes?

  4. Is it just me or is there not a Chapter 2 posted on his youtube page? I can only see chapter 1, ballad, chapter 3, and chapter 4.

I noticed the same thing, and the chapter 2 woul dhave been the coolest part of the show so far for me based on that other leaked video earlier in the season. They do play that piece in one of the warm up clips though.

  5. Thanks for that. I sure hope it is just an effect of the recording, but that synth bottom end through much of it is horrendous.

Sounds like the recording gear was normalized or something. Everything sounded the same volume.

Oh also, check other videos from the same user...he has a bunch more stuff up :) And it is good :)

  6. Thanks for posting that news. It does seem that DCI is going to see a large drop in streaming subscription income in 2015.

They sure won't be getting my money.

I mean, this pretty much invalidates the entire service. If I can't somehow sit and devote 3 hours time on random days for each show then I can't experience drum corps this year at all? Great freaking plan. Complete garbage.

  7. Just signed up!

YES, 2015 'at-home' DCI sounds like a real bummer, compared to last year. These are radical changes in response to problems DCI is unable to solve as quickly as we would like. Seems as though this season came up too fast to sift through all of this in time. I have faith 2016 will be better.

In the meantime, what I am getting for my purchase is adequate for now. Living on the East Coast, I expect to view 7-8 events from home. In my situation, that's still worth the cost. Nevertheless, DCI is in a bad place right now. I'll continue to participate to help soften the blow it has taken. Please help as best you can.

Good job bending over and supporting getting screwed and making it harder for the rest of us to fight the stupidity.

  8. I never got a survey, and I've been a subscriber since the beginning. Really DCI never sends me anything...

They certainly are taking me for granted. I won't be renewing if there is no DVR AND no Historical stuff. Plus, I liked Brighthouse.

I also never got a survey despite having been a subscriber from the first day they started all the way up to the previous year. I wonder if anyone actually got one lol

  9. This is the most amazing show I have ever seen! It is everything from very accessible to very dark and in between. The hornline is old school in your face LOUD! I mean really loud! The ballad will bring anyone to tears. The whole concept is very easy to grasp. The visuals although still being worked out, are just plain incredible.

Flam, stahp! My hype levels are too high as it is :)

  10. OK.. Just to stir the pot a little....why WAS BD congratulating Bluecoats a classy move? Trying to figure this one out...... Is congratulating someone for beating someone (while that someone else is standing right there) a classy move? Why bot congratulate Cadets for taking the bronze?

And for the record, I think Bluecoats deserved the silver.

Because it was their highest placement as a corps ever?

  11. Park and Blow scores a perfect GE and Viz. Congrats DCI. Way to send a message. As to the real Viz corps like SCV and Crown, you guys keep doing what you're doing. And the real GE winner, BLOO, how they can ignore an entire stadium of DCI players and fans, well, let's just say we all saw the same thing. BD, congrats on a great show and an amazing hornline.

Lol, go cry some more, jesus.

  12. I think the BD guard is too risqué in their expression and attire. While emotion and expression do count in guard, skill should too.IMO shaking a tambourine and doing a few tosses now and then do not justify their ranking. The show is fantastic and the throwing the rifles into the circle is awesome. But the girls with their tops unzipped and bras showing are too much. I'm not a prude, but really? Felt like a Victoria Secret ad. BAC guard uniforms are also kind of bad in the beginning but don't bother me as much.

You might be too old for this.
