Hornline is so freaking good.

The audio in the final "Simple Gifts" push is a classic case of overblown amplification swamping the field mics.
That will require considerable post production to salvage for posterity.Yeah, all I heard was noise plus some trumpets randomly. Hopefully they can clean it up in post.

I really hate to say this... But I think the bluecoats has over done the theme to their show... Too much of a good thing can be bad.... Gosh I hated typing that
If you that was overdone you should turn off the stream before The Cadets or you will jump out of a window :)

I'll say this. From top to bottom this is a pretty incredible season of drum corps.

Lots of feet issues with Cadets. Counted people out if step on 5 occassins. Also almost an ensemble tear in the beginning. Not a strong showing IMO from Coats and Cadets. Anyone's ballgame in 2-5.

Cadets so far looking and sounding a little vulnerable at the start.

I was going to put it there, but most people go here.God's Tryin' to Tell You Somethin' (Color Poiple). Loud does not equal good. Oof, they were hurting to find centers of tone across the board. But it's still one of my favorite shows for a purely entertaining reason. (And they made me start paying attention to color guards.)
Some amazing licks all through Sweet Georgia Brown. One of my favorite shows! Love the judge rocking out at the beginning of the show on camera.

They're not struggling this year, I think that's a bit too far the other direction. They had an off night. We could hear it and the judges could too. No biggie.
I meant their corps as a whole, not just the brass. 1st to what is looking like 5th is a pretty big drop. I would call that struggling, relative to last year.

Funny thing, the kids in Crown and the brass staff thought it was their strongest performance of the year.
Well if their staff couldn't see and hear how rough it was but the judge and some random people on DCP could, then maybe that explains why they are struggling this year.

I love Crown but thought they were way off their game tonight. But that's not the end of the world.
I could see them dropping to the 6th spot going into prelims but then moving up 2-3 spots at Indy.
Hey, apparently all of us that think they had an off night are crazy...be careful, the Crown honk patrol is out in force.

Yes. The book is off the chart and their performance of it is in a class by itself. but every corps has an off night now and then.
What in the hell are you talking about?? That was a great run. Kids are happy. Staff is happy. Oh wait, I just read your handle. Nevermind....

As great a hornline as Crown has, I'm still convinced Devils are going to edge them for the Ott this year
I think so too...and if they play like they did tonight they are gonna be below Cadets too.

Hornline does not seem to be having a great night either. I hear lots of little issues on releases and articulation.

I don't think I get this show...what is up with the throwing stuff all around the field? Is it supposed to be some sort of cool GE moment, cause it just looks like a random mess.
