Their best move was to somehow pay off Fugett to gift them their drum score on Friday night so that they could go on last Saturday night so that they could get gifted the championship.

It always makes me laugh when people say the scores are fixed! How exactly does that work? Love to know!!!!
Well, see here is what you do. Your name is Fugett and just decide for no good reason to bump Crown up almost a point in percussion. And then the brass judge all of a sudden decides for the first time all year that Crown's hornline is half a point above BD...and there ya go! You just fixed the scores. Unfortunately the percussion jump was way too obvious of a ######## number so they got caught.

I didn't get the Crown win last night either. Been a huge fan but they didn't have a good run. You mentioned the dropped sticks and the drops in the guard, but I also just felt the overall energy was flat (except the closer) and the drum line / eh / would have had them in 9th
Felt BD 1 pointed them last night - and this is coming from someone who is in no way a BD homer / I was also pulling for Cadets.
Anyone that is not lying to themselves because they are Crown honks would agree with your statements. It was an embarrassment of judging last night and Fugett especially should be barred from judging ever again. Even if Crown wins tonight now it will be tainted because of the ######## judging last night putting them on last tonight.

In my experience there are always some parents of "kids" in competitive activities who act that way... I don't think parents are a good example to use as stand-ins for "fans" of a corps.
Of course, we got plenty of "Are the judges deaf and blind?" type stuff here last night, too. What does *that* mean?
It's obvious what it means...Fugett is blind and deaf if he thinks a 7th place drumline improved almost point in one night to get .2 down from SCV.

If you were at critique tonight, you would have been alone, considering there hasn't ever been critique at SEMI FINALS.
And congrats to the brass judge for not ranking, but RATING. This is the first time that the spread in brass has been correct in my opinion.
Hopefully Albert Lo doesn't go back to RANKING them with numbers and actually puts numbers down that are representative of what he is hearing.
I know there is no critique at semis...I was speaking in the theoretical sense. Would you like to explain the percussion score? Give it a shot.

It is a nice change of pace isn't it? And the conspiracy theories are the best. DCI is barely even capable of agreeing on the most basic rules and procedures, and yet some would accuse them of a massive, unified effort to place one corps over the other. Oh, and who runs DCI? Who are the judges ultimately answerable to? the CORPS THEMSELVES!! I'm sure they are all out to get BD. Its bloody hilarious.
Hey, I ALWAYS want the best corps to win. I don't give a rats ### who that is, if they deserve it then you won't hear me #####ing. I only get angry when obvious ######## goes on, and anyone that watched the shows tonight should feel really suspect about the percussion score. And if they percussion score is totally sketchy...then you can't trust any of the other weird ### recap results, like the unreasonably huge brass spread. Tell me honestly, since you are apparently a pretty knowledgeable guy, do you think Crown's percussion is all of a sudden .2 back from SCV and improved half a point in one night? Be honest.

I'm assuming you watched both shows right now because it's the only way I can give you any amount of credit for anything at all.
Of course I watched both shows. I have seen every streamed show this year and a couple live ones, just like every year. I actually like Crown's show except for the poetry crap that ruins what should be an amazing ballad (the ballad is my favorite part of the show sans the poetry stuff) I just hate seeing the "favorite" corps beat out the "best" corps. It happened in 2008 and it is happening again and I called it happening a week ago in other threads (and I believe tonight that the VERY suspicious recap proves something fishy is going on). I think clean should beat emotional but dirty.

Lol, dude, you know that Crown's drumline should not even be within spitting distance of the top 5. Anyone that has been involved with the activity for more than 6 months should be able to tell that their drumline didn't magically become .2 down from SCV's kick ### drumline in the span of 1 day, especially when they are inarguably dirtier tonight than last night. Enjoy your Crown win, but you KNOW that they don't deserve it. DCI just feels bad that their #### poor percussion was holding them back so much and so every judge decided to give em a little extra juice in some key areas to make up for it so that the rest of the corps doesn't throw em off the bus. Unfortunately noone told the drum judge to not go nuts and pop them out a number that is beyond logical. And they also certainly aren't .5 above BD and whatever the hell spread above Cadets and SCV in brass.

Someone is telling me that there was no percussion judge on the field for crown's show tonight. Can someone confirm or deny?
If he was out there he was deaf and blind because that drumline (who got 7th last night) is not all of a sudden .2 behind SCV! And all of a sudden their brass is .5 above everyone? Come on! If I was in critique tonight and I was in Cadets, BD, or SCV I would be throwing punches.

They are probably waiting to push it all up at once. Last night they had issues where they slowly pushed up pieces and when it was all said and done, there were a LOT of errors that they went back and fixed.
They are trying to find a way to make the recaps add up to Crown winning but not look like a complete gift like it was. I bet their drumline moved up like 3 slots tonight even though they were dirtier tonight than last night. My prophecy from previous threads where this is DCI's second chance at a 2008 moment to make the mouth breathers happy is coming true! There is NO WAY (despite whether you like the show or not) that Crown was better tonight and you all know it deep down. Ah well, be happy with your gift decision tonight! Hopefully tomorrow night DCi has a change of heart and realizes that robbing the rightful best corps so that the new Crowd fave can win is shameful.

This is absolutely hilarious. He prefaced that he has loved the BD shows of the past (ie. 2010) but his classification of tonights show as "flat" is pathetic? BD fans sure come out with some gems during finals week.
LOL, way to cherry pick a statement. He said the players looked bored like they didn't care that they were performing. That is a pretty ###### thing to say about kids that just played and marched the living hell out of a show.

Maybe because its 3am here in the Uk, and I am tired haha! But they all look tired. All the soloists looked like they need a nap and just want to move on and pick up their winners rings tomorrow night. Look I am some-one who likes their 2010 show and that had energy. BD to me just felt flat, but from what I have seen over the past months that is the point of their show, just compare this to crown,cadets,vanguard etc not being BD hater!
Man...pretty sad dude...just grasping at straws now to try and make fun of BD. Pathetic.

Sure.. or even the Pro Life Protest signs,, Tea Party protest signs, Tax Revolt Protest signs, American Revolution (Right organized ) signs and so forth ? The Crossmen approached this Theme of " Protest " from an almost exclusive Left bent. That limited the theme. They could have ( should have ) broadened it to be inclusive of all segments of American citizens Constitutional Freedom of the exercise of " Protest ". But its no big deal, imo.... its just a minor observation of their theme's somewhat limited focus with their theme this year, thats all.
Maybe it is because Crossmen's staff isn't made up of inbred rednecks and evil, soulless corporate shills?

Completely agree. The narration before the Abyss soundtrack hit is so corny!
People in the theater I was in in were actually laughing and making fun of the narration. It really does completely screw over what is in actuality a very cool piece of music.

Glenn will make the right call based on clarity (execution) of the ensembles tonight. My 2 cents, Cadets were SMOKIN' Thursday night, and SCV had an "off" night. While I appreciate BD's show design, I am at a loss as to why they were even in the top 3 / 4 percussion wise. Their battery tacets for 40 sexs to 1 min 30 secs at times, and they play easy "content" when on the move.
Placement Thurs should have been #1-Cadets; #2 Bluecoats (yes I am an alum, but they truly played nice Thurs); #3 SCV; #4- BD.
Unfortunately, gone are the days when perc judges (or most any judge) will "score" a corps low enough to drive them out of a "slot."
As for Marty Griffin...... he's becoming a true "artist" at slotting over the last 2-3 years.
Crown's percussion ens will make or break their title hopes.
Dude...come on...really? You can really sit there and say that BD's drumcline should not be in the top 4? REALLY? And that Bluecoats line last night was better than SCV? Come on man...don't let the blind hate and homerism make you look silly.

Blue Devils "levitated" about 40 people out of the theatre last night out of the 60 or so that were there.
Plus following their show, it seemed as though the audience at Indy tried to be polite while "applauding."

Crown has been pretty consistent in guard this year beating BD, but I don't think I can remember the last time Debbie Torchia had BD in anything but 1st. Are you just going to follow my posts around and comment on them trying to prove some point about my feelings towards the Blue Devils?
BD has been pretty consistent in winning guard for the past like 5 years and has won several times this year so to say that they shouldn't win guard is crazy, despite the judge.

Crown beat Cavies in drums not too long ago, wonder what happened there?
