Its bad enought that DCA lost 3 shows this year ,we'll start with Bucs ,Downinggtown no show,Excelour show canncelled ,Sunrisers last sunday in aug,Couldn\t get corps to take the show .Not looking good folks ,

C2 originally was supposed to be at the Downingtown show before they decided to go to Everett -

  3. Does DCA have a PR person? The ads seem to a bit of unprofessional this year more do then in the past.

This year the theme seems to be:

"If you didn't like the outcome from last season, you might see it corrected at the __________________ show."

    Or

"Maybe the lead will change at the Mifton (a random made up name) show"

Really? And those were not the only instances?

It just seems there is a bitter atmosphere this year- and DCA promotes it a bit.

  6. Possible - Organize the parking should be a the top of the list......

Whatever the reasons - parking has to be fixed and also made safer -

and if you want to hhold the vent there again - enforce the no alcohol and no smoking policy because that is the state policy in NJ for all schools and their properties. It was extreme in the lots. I know from experience that it is a big undertaking to host any DCA show, however, you must have the show /event staff on site from first thing in the morning. First thing in the morning means 8am. Anything less is a rough or badly run show at best. Performances were great but outside of the gate was a huge free for all for corps and their members. It felt like someone decided that day to put a show together and forgot to organize parking. Alumni have to be respectful of the needs of the corps.

    Was there handicap parking?

Parking was an issue for everyone - members and spectators. Whatever was the reason - the bottom line is it was not taken care of. A sign is not taking care of it. Active parking workers is the only way - if you do not have enought people - should not have the show. It was that bad.

I apologize but I do know what it takes. Sticking signs up for a DCA show has never worked. The audience and alumni corps cannot read at DCA events.

Sorry - You have to fix it. COrps show werre great - parking not so much

  9. I will preface this by saying that since i have2 kids in Cabs i am somewhat biased. I have seen enough of them and Bucs this year to still speak with insight though. From my seats on the lower left 40, there was no question about the level of the performances. Simply based on the judging that was seen all season and even the day before, Cabs deserved the highest score, before penalty. Being a visual guy I was just specially surprised by the ensemble visual and colorguard scores. Mr Miller and i clearly did not see the same things. I counted at least 5 times that Bucs brass were out of step. Considering most comments from visual judges today have to include something about colorguard and staging, I suppose it shouldn't be a big surprise.

Having been around the corps most of yesterday, I can say the members clearly felt they laid down the right performance to win the championship. The look on the staff faces immediately after their show, did not match what we saw on the field however. News of the penalty spread very quickly. Considering the circumstances surrounding the member that was called, the penalty was especially hard to take. I was stunned, as I was unaware that this penalty even existed. It is especially ironic that the championship corps had a show based on the theme of breaking through the front sideline. Perhaps someone can explain this rule to me? As we all know scores and placements are only a small part of the life lessons learned in the activity. I am really proud of my girls, and of the whole Cabs organization, for the way they handled themselves last night. Congratulations to all of those who performed over the whole weekend and the season!

Gotta say - somewhat of a tainted observation. Each group - and I mean each group stepped it up at finals. Just let it go at that -

  10. I don't particularly care that its a "record score". However, lets not pretend that organizations will not take anything they can use to generate publicity. Baseball still glorifies statistics like RBI, batting average, pitcher wins etc. Those stats have been meaningless for 20 years. The triple crown is given to the guy who leads the league in 3 batting statistics, two of which mean basically nothing.

Now here is my sports comparison problem. (And this is for fun ) a player who bats a .500 is batting a 50%. Imagine a horn player playing 50% of the notes correct. In our activity excellence is not an option and there are no three strikes or four balls -

This is why Iove this activity. You have to be as perfect as you can be and you are putting it out there for all to see. Everyone has to be "batting" at 100%.

50% in anything else except sports is considered an "F"

    Music Rocks!

  11. They do that. You know how much work they put in in the offseason? Many of the members take ballet classes or lessons before even auditioning. This year's show looks easy because they have prepared so much but it is not easy whatsoever. Just picking a corps at random, if the same corps had Bluecoats drill it would have been pretty much perfect a month ago.

Not totally true - Only if they trained for that type of show. I agree but different training would be needed. BD was great last night
