I find it odd how discussion about Bluecoats showing all their cards too early can be discussed while not asking how Cadets can maintain some sort of pace like they are also with minimal design changes?
I love both shows, but for this show to suddenly fall out of the sky in a matter of days is frustrating.

It started - to be honest - when older judges started judging the show - The Oder is only allowed to change every so many years -
DCI is putting the food chain back to where it feels it should be. Nothing more and nothing less.
Entertaining is not permitted to be in GE. It almost seems like a requirement this year.
So - championships must resemble the following:
Blue Devils
Cadets
Crown
Cavaliers
SCV
Pantom
Bluecoats
Something along those lines
Analyze the shows - Bluecoats really have a low level design? Really? No one is lip syncing a narration
It just really seems DCI is selective with some and not others ...... The food chain must be put back into alignment
Next year Cavaliers should be winning I believe or PR tie?

There were 5 of us watching and some if us thought the same thing. Is she famous and that is her "schtick" - kind of putting herself before the event and the kids?I noticed her right away. I didn't know she was a judge at first. It reminded me of the Troopers instructor in Ypsilanti many years ago who ended up running onto the field to reset flags that were not in the right spots.
When I judged in different circuits we had a uniform look. You got one warning and the next time you didn't judge-

Re-viewing the show from last night, the Cadets percussion kicked butt and took names...simple as that...incredible execution against drill demand (and, I really dig the Bluecoats drumline..very hip).
I agree with music book - regarding percussion - just not drill book for the percussion section this year.

Welcome to the world of Beth Fabrizio.
She has judged dozens of marching band contests I've been at during the fall seasons, and she always goes out of her way to wear something entirely different from the rest of the judges. Usually it is a fluffy, furry, poofy moon boot selection, combined with a mink furry top of some sort. Maybe a dress here or there. Shiny things. Sparkles.
I am just waiting for the day when it's so cold outside she wears a puff jacket with a burka.
She was really a distraction a bit too - not just for us but for the kids. I have family in Cadets, Bluecoats and Crossmen - one of the kids in Cadets said she took them by surprise......

I was holding that one back - glad some else said it - ha!
Don't think that was the reason of overall odd adjudicating.

I was holding that one back - glad some else said it - ha!

Keep in mind, the guy who just hosed Bluecoats in drums last night was cut by the corps back in the day.
I was holding that one back - glad some else said it - ha!

I know - having said that I am hopeful DCI will not start to slot. Tonight felt like that. The spread was way too large. Crown should have had brass tonight or the comp should have been much higher than the others - again obvious.Seriously?! No. Under no circumstances. Stop being silly.
What would be great would be to pass out scores to MA judges. Follow along. What the heck.

They are great. Could have won tonight with ZOI love Broken Arrow too.......Loved ZO, Aquos to name a few.
Avon could have won tonight with iconoclash
-
Not a chance
Have you seen Broken Arrow?
-
I wanted to which show was harder from a book - First place DCI or BOA. Like a head to head comparison.Competing? Or performing in exhibition? Possibly the later, but definitely not the former.
-
Is Broken Arrow HS competing at their show in a couple of days?

Wow - still not understanding sheets this year.
Not remotely.

I'm hearing intonation issues. It's the Crown hornline.I simply should not hear intonation issues.*sad panda*
Everyone is had issues tonight - everyone
-
Are we watching the same regional? Changes good but now old stuff sloppy
-
Rough night for everyone it seems
-
Looks like Bluecoats could use some sleep. Staff - that is a hint!

I saw this coming based on who was judging at the last show and who was judging tonight. I didn't want to say anything to burst everyone's bubble and excitement, but at Fort Wayne you had half the panel that were new judges who I never saw in previous years. Tonight it was a veteran group of judges. They tend to look at things differently than someone who is new to the ranks. I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, I leave that up to you to debate. I've just seen this happened in so many many seasons since my involvement in the activity. It is what it is. It's difficult to read into scores and I'm sure the margin will shrink. Tomorrow is a new day to get better!
Does not do much to lend trust as a educator then if only old hats are able to give reads - we watch shows and see a mess of things and messages and veteran judges are able to see through it all I quess. I give them mad props for that ability.
My personal problem (among so many others) is I keep getting GE mixed up with entertaining. I have to stop connecting the two.

Bluecoats did change some perc and guard stuff yesterday -
-
Audience did and does not agree and BD has never been this sloppy before. Just odd - Cadets pop that simlar score the night before as well with no changes.......
