    I had a felling I was forgetting someone...thanks.

  2. Maybe it's just me, but, ever considered they (SCV and BD, the real cause of all this hooplah) are...I don't know...good?

The last time one of these corps was NOT in finals was 1973 (BD 24th, 66.somthin). They are for REAL.

One a different idea, I second the theory of the lack of comparison being the reason for this myth. When you have SCV, BD and Pacific Crest at one show, who do you think stands out and by how much?

For example: Bakersfeild, CA June 20th

    1. Vanguard -77.050

    2. Blue devils -76.550

    3. Pacific Crest -63.600

And it is impossible for the human mind i.e. the judges minds to instantly forget a performance and start "fresh". They can try but there is no way.

DISCLAIMER: I really do apprecialte all of the hard work and education the judges commit to DCI. They all do a fantastic job.

  3. You guys are going to crucify me, but does this post mean that drum corps is better left to louder instruments? Say, drums and bugles? :sshh:

    I should. ^0^ :P

Plus, with the 150 member limit, I guarantee you most if not all corps will build their hornlines.

More horns (clean) = louder hornline

    Louder Hornline =Immediate balance issues.

    IMO

  4. We arn't called the "Front Ensamble" for no reason.

    I. Even with amps, the instruments do not project enough to be on the back hash or sideline. If you DID move them back to the back side line, the amps would have to be jacked up so high that if they malfunctioned, like PurpleKnighs said, they would be so noticeable that your score would dissolve.

II. I've played in both an amped pit and a non amped pit. And the thing I love about being amped is that you can have alot warmer and softer textures and sounds, THAT CAN ACCUALLY BE HEARD as apposed to always using brighter mallets.
