  1. Congratulations to The Bluecoats for their outstanding 2010 competitive season!

It takes a lot of people doing all the right things all the time to achieve this level

of success! Bluecoats have fired on all cylanders with this show thanks to it's members,

instructional staff, administration and support volunteers. Thank you and may you

continue this success with your 2011 season!

    2010 Benchmarks:

    17 - 1st place wins

    Highest score ever - 96.5 (semi's)

    3rd place in finals (bronze)

  2. You know, if Bluecoats would have seen Blue Devils more frequently

than they did this year, I would say yes, possibly! But, due to the Minneapolis

show being rained out, Bluecoats didn't even compete against BD until

July 30th in Murfreesboro (2 weeks before finals)! The only other show

head-to-head with BD on the same day was Atlanta. This Thursday in Indy

will only be the 3rd time. I'm hoping they at least close the gap on them

each day up to Saturday and scare the hell out of them! This is ONE of the

largest reasons that G7 has had issues with DCI and the current schedule.

I am firmly a believer that G7 (or now unofficially G8 now that Blue Stars

have seen the light) should have more head-to-head competitions more frequently

throughout the season, adding basically 6 shows reserved for this purpose.

They are not asking for the moon, but if DCI doesn't listen to them, they

WILL be throwing more power (and possibly money) behind their future

endeavors as a seperate entity, and inform DCI when they're available to

perform FOR DCI sanctioned competitions. I know future meetings are

happening soon with these directors to further their quest, and I am 100%

behind them. Without going into details of their latest proposals, DCI needs

to listen to these directors and their boards who support these ideas for

the future outlook as part of DCI. If they don't, next year's tour schedule is

    going to look way different.

  3. Hey, there's been lots of talk for the long-standing corps who've been

to the top 3 medal positions, but let's not forget the "new kid on the block"

who happens to currently be in second place!

That's right, The BLUECOATS are in medal contention for the first time in their

history (since 1972)! Can you imagine the excitement of their 5-year vets who've

gone from their old blue and white uniforms in 2006 and finished in 4th place with

"Connexus", fell short of their expectations over the next two years with color guard

issues and weaknesses, improved greatly last year with a solid staff, and now this

current group blistering their show "Metropolis - The Future is Now"!

Although people have deemed them an underdog, and "let's wait and see" how they

fare over the next two weeks - they've already proved their strenghts as a corps,

which has the strongest group of kids (matched with a completely talented staff to

boot!) to help them continue on track to medal this year.

For those of us who have seen and heard their show live and have witnessed their

intensity on the field, let me be the first to congratulate you publicly on this forum,

and encourage other DCP members to show their support towards a new voice in

the top 3 slots in championships. "Here-Here" for THE BLUECOATS!

    SIX WORDS! GO BLOOOOOO!

  4. Bluecoats are my FAV, but are at a disadvantage slotted before

the other three tonight. Judges are another factor. Therefore.

    I predict:

    1. Cavies

    2. Cadets

    3. Crown

    4. Bluecoats

Scores depend on individual corps performances. Bluecoats will

automatically have lower scores leaving room for the other three.

They will have to be perfect and knock their socks off to get a descent

score from the judges for inside placement. I don't recall too many

times someone slotted 4th from last winning.

    Regardless, GO BLOOOOOO! :tongue::tongue::tongue::tongue::tongue::tongue:

  5. People, people!

There are Apples, and there are Oranges.

We are all judges, but only a few get to make the final decisions.

I would like to think their years of experience counts for something.

Wether you agree with scores or show construction, or execution, etc.

or not - a judge must weigh hisor her knowledge and expertise according to

the guidelines provided them, and hope that over the course of several

viewings of all the corps they can make an appropriate judgement call on

the relativity of their performances given nightly and/or over time.

    End it already.
