  1. Ok don't laugh. I have two hobbies, DCI and NASCAR. In NACAR terms - The Cadets are the Jeff Gordon (4 time NASCAR champion) of DCI. Love Jeff or hate Jeff he gets the biggest response at driver introductions - boos included. Same can be said about The Cadets, love them or hate them they get a huge response from the crowd every time. I can remember in 2007 when they announced The Cadets in 2nd place the Rose Bowl went wild. I don't know if was because BD was going to win or The Cadets didn't win.

Another poster put it best on here, small risk small reward, great risk great reward. I don't always love The Cadets shows, but you gotta hand it to them ... come August their drill is clean and they are moving - guard work is impecable - brass and drums play a ton of notes.

Just like Jeff Gordon - boos and all - It's hard to beat a Champion!

That is, he USED to get the biggest response at driver introductions, until Evernham left and Johnson/Knaus have taken over the sport. Hopefully he will win again this year!

  2. In.

By the way, wasn't there a rule change that took away the percussion 2 judge? There weren't 2 perc judges at regionals or at OC Prelims. If there is no percussion 2 judge this year, and I don't think there is one, a score ending with .025, .125, etc. (such as 98.125 like last year, or 99.025) is impossible. Just thought people should consider that before picking.

  3. No matter what you say, you can't argue against this being a good day for Crown.

BD was 3.65 ahead of Crown at Atlanta. They are now .5 if you combine today and yesterday. Obviously there might be a bias in favor of Crown tonight, but clearly they would not have been 3.15 points different if they performed yesterday instead of today. They have definitely made some headway recently.

I mentioned in another thread that BD's scores compared to the Bluecoats got closer in each show up until (and including) yesterday from Atlanta. It seems like they might be plateau-ing (although maybe BD did just have an off show).

Looking forward to a good championship week!

  4. echoes....Mich. City is the perfect Open Class venue. I believe the corps and city would be better served to have the entire OC events here during Finals week. I know one DQ owner who would be very, very happy.

I've been to that DQ! Also, I agree that it is a good site for Open Class, but (I may be wrong on this) it seems to me like Open Class does better when they are in the same venue as the World Class Corps for Semis/Finals (see Pasadena 2007).

  5. Raiders! Loved the show! Little bit too much narration in the begining for me. It was much more mellowed out in the other segments. Sections were all well balanced. Colorguard seemed to have several drops more than I would have expected. I REALLY enjoyed the arrangment of the selected pieces. Very patriotic! Next up, Cap Reg! I saw this show in Toldeo a while ago. Let's see how its changed.

Thanks for the review! Glad to hear you enjoyed the show!

  6. Alright Dutch Boy! The percussion in this corp is far above the rest. I don't know much about guard but they looked like they kept it together. They need more horns on the field for this show to be more effective. There was also a lot of problems with feet across the corps. Good job thought. I enjoyed the show. Next up, raiders....erm BK?

Just FYI Raiders have had their uniform longer than BK has, and the uniforms are slightly different. Anyway thank you for the reviews!

  7. Hey Adam, I remember you from Cadets camps!

It's always better for a corps if you stay with them and go somewhere else but even if you go somewhere else or take the year off (like I am doing) then you can still support your old corps in other ways, like buying souvenirs and recruiting people to join your old corps. I wouldn't feel guilty about it because you are paying to do corps and you want the best experience for your money, but it is nice to show support for your old corps in any way possible.

  8. I honestly like it more than Phantom 08. Possibly my favorite drum corps show. The part of the closer where they are all jazz running seriously brings me close to tears every time I watch it despite what anybody says about how they sound, it was just so demanding and I felt it was incredible.
