  1. Hey there folks. I've seen both The Academy, and Oregon Crusaders, but not Spartans or East Coast Jazz. But if the most recentscores are ANY indication, I would have to say DCI should look to putting the Division II and Division III final 3 in the theatre like they are for the Division I quarters!!!!

I'll second that. I will also add that it's tough hoping that they get video of my div II corps since the family day stuff is just Okay. To support a corps all summer and not be able to get a good video. My very wine-eee. Sorry for that.

Seriously, I've seen Impulse three or four times and loved their show. SCVC brings it every night. OC and AA are awesome. I can't wait to see the others when I get to Madison on Friday. DCI would do well to put some additional focus on Div II and III since the calibur of the corps is seriously increasing and from a fan perspective, very entertaining.

  2. Just got a phone call from my sister who marches in OC. According to the OC staff and show recap, OC topped ECJ in everything except GE. It turns out that the judge for GE doesn't like the guy who wrote the drill so he lowered there score.( so the rumor goes) I'd say it was fairly biased.

Ok, so as of now "fairly biased" is my favorite two word combination. Again, I'm new to this, but the scores seem so flexible night to night. Especially at the shows that don't have Div I corps performing. It's been a fun season though.

  3. Not anymore! HE he he!

BTW, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in those Wisconsin scores. BDB went down two points after last night in Wisconsin. OC went down more than a point after Iowa last night as well. Same judges, same field. OC, AA, ECJ and Spartans; it's anyone's ball game. AA fans shouldn't count the old chickens. ECJ has a great show, so does OC and Spartans. It should be great.

  4. Okay, so this is my first year in this thing. I'm wondering about score consistency. Last night in Racine, WI, BDB got an 89.1 and ECJ got an 89.9. Tonight, according to fairly biased reports, both were great (but was told OC was better). If that's the case, how did BDB go down almost two points and ECJ go up almost two points? I would love to compare the captions but we haven't even seen the posted scores from Racine last night. Any guidance on this?

  5. By my calculations that makes the DIV II prelims as follows (in reverse oder by Michigan City, IN score)

    1. ECJ (91.7)

    2. AA (91.35

    3. OC (91.275)

    4. Spartans (91.1)

    5. SCVC (88.725)

    6. BDB (87.525)

    7. Jersey Surf (84.95)

    8. Memphis Sound (83.6)

    9. Teal Sound (79.975)

    10. Jubal (78.775)

    11. Colt Cadets (61.5)

1.-4. is awfully crowded. If I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet on this one.

  6. BDB this year reminds me of that team that can only beat itself. They have the power to step it up when the colelctively want to (and have shown that this year). Andrew, I think you also have to remember the amount of change in the show that you have received lately. Nail that and BDB will definitely place this year, even challenge for the title.

  7. Ok, so wife called back, here are the Div II scores for tonight:

    Oregon Crusaders 84.9

    BDB 81.9

    SCVC 81.0

Again, the short review is that OC was very clean, BDB was flat and SCVC put on their best show to date. The BDB kids thought their score was a gift. One kids said they were handed music changes today and had been working on new GE stuff all last weekend. BDB doesn't perform for another week and a half, they're not doing the AZ, Texas tour many of the others are doing. It'll be interesting to see if they can master those changes by then.

I am also looking forward to seeing how OC and SCVC do this against AA and others in the next week. AA hasn't performed in a while.

Can't wait to get to Madison.

  8. Wife just called, said BDB was very unhappy with their show. 45 minutes later and the coaches are still talking to them. They made some major music and visual changes and may have rushed them in. They wanted to have them in time to be perfect by Michigan City. She also said OC seemed flat. Then again, whoever said she was a good reviewer? That wasn't the major quality I married her for.

  9. mrs. timpfan and I were both out there today. I did the 9-5 shift and she is doing the 1-9 shift. It was hot. I would say more, but it would take too much effort. We brought two cots, tons of gaterade, spray bottles and bandanas straight out of the freezer. It's a tough week for corps around the country. We need to all pull together to take care of our corps kids.

    I'm going to nap now.
