  1. Not really a prop but there will be a zombie show in 2017!

    With the zombie craze going on, the audience will eat this up.

    All the guard will be zombies and constantly trying to eat the marching members who spend most of the show trying to march away from them. lol

    Okay maybe i've seen a little too much walking dead :tounge2:

  2. I know this thread is about the "MOST RECENT" shows where they start loud but the ones i remember most that start loud are Faust and Niagra Falls.

    When I listen to Faust on my CD, i love how first I hear, "Phantom Regiment may take the field for competition..(FIRSTNOTE)" It seems like only 1 second passes after Crockers announcement that they start playing. I love it.

    And 2000 Cavies were so in your face with those impact notes to start off Niagra Falls. Classic.

  3. I marched 04-05 and I pretty much enjoy shows from 1986 - current. Anything before 86 I will really have to dig to find something I can enjoy for 12 minutes.

    But every year its the same, some shows I like and some I don't. Some years I will have 5 shows I like, other years there may be only 1 or 2. And honestly the added electronics, voices, instruments have not had an impact for me one way or another.

    As long as the arrangers are properly implementing them and allowing the performers to play something that is pleasing to listen to, then i'm all for it.

    All I want is to get chills during performances. And not because its cold either lol

  4. 2005 Bluecoats - Caravan ---> 2006 Bluecoats - Road Trip

    2002 Blue Devils - Jazz - Music Made in America ---> 2003 Blue Devils - Champeta- Music made in and around the areas of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

    1995 Cavaliers - The Planets --> 1996 Cavaliers - Pluto

    2001 Cavaliers - Four Corners --> 2002 Cavaliers - Center

    2004 Bluecoats - Mood Swings --> 2005 Bluecoats - Period (PREQUEL)

  5. 12.50 isn't a high ticket cost at a theater that charges 10 bucks or more a ticket to a sold out movie, so after the theater gets their cut, how much is left for DCI?

    I am also curious to know how much, if any, profit dci makes out of this.

    I used to work at a movie theater and one thing I do know is that the movie theater gets like .1% of ticket sales or some ridiculously small number like that. Most of their money comes from concession sales, hence, that's why it cost $5 for a drink lol

    so I wonder if the theater gets the same percentage from their ticket sales from the countdown as their normally would

  6. Here are thoughts that I have had that i'm sure are improbable and possibly impossible, but wouldn't mind if they occurred.

    1) Getting rid of World and Open class and only having one class with about 20-25 total corps. Quality vs Quantity.

    2) Decreasing the length of shows by 1 minute.

    3) DCI becoming more competitive somehow. How exactly, I'm not sure. Like, I want corps to hate each other, I want them to want to beat the crap out of their competition. And that anger/competitive streak that they have building inside of them can be used during their shows to help them perform the hell out of their shows. (maybe this happens already i'm not sure). I would love for every single member of every corps to take a defeat PERSONAL. But because this is such a subjective activity, it is harder to get that mean streak going as opposed to a sport to where you are in direct competition with someone else and there are no judges.

    4) Just like major league sports, its competition but its also entertainment. In DCI, the majority of the fans go to shows to be entertained, not to actually see who is better than the other, at least IMO. Well, since this is already such a subjective activity, I wouldn't mind seeing fans opinions actually count. Fans who go to shows would vote using some kind of device, and they could only vote once. Obviously they will vote for whoever they want to vote for but it will be suggested for them to vote for who they thought was the "best" corps of the night. And the weight of the vote on the overall placements would be like 30% or 40%, and the other 60% or 70% would be the judging.

    5) Increasing the age limit to 25.

  7. I'm thinking you need to update some supporting software for your browser. Got the latest Java? Quicktime? all that good stuff?

    I can pull it up with Past performances in video .. paid the same as you .. and it works on Firefox and IExplorer

    I just checked.. all the 1995 videos are on there.

    Ok got it fixed. Thanks guys :whistle:

    Now i'm happy again.

  8. I'm mad at the fact that I can no longer watch the old shows anymore. Now I have to purchase them to watch them.

    When I renewed for $59, I thought I was going to get that service again. I was really looking forward to it. But then when I go and try to watch a show from 1995, all I get is audio options or that I can purchase the VPD. Lame...

    And of course they are not going to have the finals performance from last year. Only the on demand shows that I've watched a million times lol.

  9. I haven't read the other post but I think its lame that we can't see DCI Finals live through webcast or any other source. I know that watching it would not affect my decision on whether to buy the dvd or not.

    I know its not the same, but imagine being able to watch the NBA playoffs and then when the finals came, you get nothing. Or watching NFL playoffs and then you can't watch the Super Bowl.

    I would gladly trade all the live streaming that DCI offers right now for a 1 night live broadcast of Finals. In fact, if they ever went back to PBS, how great would it be to broadcast finals live on tv? Including scores and all that good stuff.

  10. My first show was in 2001 San Antonio show.

    I had known DCI for about a year at the time, being introduced to it through my high school.

    The corps were great but I had some bad seats so my experience was ok. Watching it on tv would have been better.

    But my best experience was in 2003 when one of my friends who went with me to the 2001 show, was now marching with one of the corps. It was cool to see him out there.

  11. Cavalier ladders and guard uni's in '05... seriously wow, I bet their fathers are really proud

    Regiment in khaki, lol

    And So It Goes... entire show

    Any Madison guard uni's from the past 5 years

    Bluecoat '05 beatboxer nerds... dudes looked like I was about to steal their lunch money

    SCV '05 playing the exact same RCM chart as '87... good call on that one!

    All in fun. Kinda. :P
