  1. Thanks Gary!

Our jackets are produced local so thet we can place orders as we get a cost effective order together, sometimes as small an order of 6 or 8,............biggest suggestion I can give is make sure the first run includes getting copies of the set up, (which you will probably pay for) i.e. the digital files needed to produce the item,........then if you need to, you can go elsewhere without getting charged a set up fee, and/or risk future continuity issues,.......

  2. I'm wondering about the style and/or type of jackets corps are using. Lined or unlined, type of collar, hooded? Solid color or two or three colors, nylon, cotton, or some type of blend? Similar to DCI jackets, varsity type, or windbreaker? Any input would be great.

  3. First show I ever marched was in Frankenmuth in 1976 with the Midshipmen from Petoskey, MI. I live in the Muth area now, so I plan to check this group out. From what I understand, they will be doing a performance after the parade.

Please stop by and say hello. My name is Grover. I'll be the guy with the flugle horn. We will also be rehearsing Saturday evening 6pm - 8pm at Frankenmuth High School Band room and parking area.

  4. Brass Announcement: Bob Rice has agreed to instruct the January 6th rehearsal. Bob has marched in several jr. corps and senior corps. Mr Rice has also taught/consulted/judged drum corps in Michigan, Ontario and Iowa. He is retired from his high school band directing position and holds emeritus status with Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association. Bob has earned additional honors and performance accolades to numerous to mention in this short announcement.

Percussion staff for Jan 6th rehearsal: Dave Pickett and Rich Hogan. Both men have extensive experience and bring a combination of formal education and practical knowledge to the GLDCA.

Guard announcement: Denise Donlon has agreed to instruct GLDCA color guard. Denise has marched in Anaheim Kingsmen Jr. corps and Alumni corps. In addition, Denise has been a member of the Royal Lancers jr. corps and Alumni corps, Marauders jr. corps, and Iron Brigade jr. corps. Not only holding leadership positions in her drum corps affiliations but she also has considerable instructional experience.

  6. More UP Michigan Corps... Silver Echoes of Munising, Majestics of Marquette, Castle Rangers of Munising, Golden Eagles of Lanse, and the White Beret of Iron Mouintain.

The topic name is pretty funny to me because most of the corps listed are not "barely heard of" for me but rather a what corps did you march against list. alankarls list of the corps in upstae Wisconsin and the UP is missing a couple from that time, the Hurley Ambassadors, the Blue Knights from Ironwood, the Brass Regiment from Park Falls, and the Durand Silver Sabers all girl drum corps.

The Sundowner's first year was 1971 after the Eau Claire Boys added girls midway through the 1970 season. If I remember correctly there was a woman named Annie Mixdorff (or something like that) that ran "Parade Specialties" which was a small Wisconsin circuit with the Parade/Contest format in small towns. Maybe the vast Knowledge of Northern Thunder could help me out with the facts.

  7. A new Alumni Corps is forming in the Great Lakes Area!

The Great Lakes Drum Corps Alumni(GLDCA),has been formed by a group of alumni from several corps in the old Wolverine/Great Lakes Drum Corps Association. The Association existed from abt. the mid 60's to the mid 80's. It was comprised of corps primarily from both upper and lower Michigan, Canada, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. The Bluecoats and Glassmen were both members of the GLDCA in their earlier days.

We have started a facebook page but will have a website eventually.
