No, he already covered the change. Finals were going to be in Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the Colts, blue and white), but now it's in Memorial Stadium (home of the IU Hoosiers, red)

Ok so after the season you are walking with friends and you notice that you are all in step or one is out and you think what is wrong with him. Then you think what the heck am I doing and you try to walk out of step but you can't and it just ticks you off because you need to not be in DC mode anymore.

I think maybe some Corps members would like it also, especially those that might not be marching ever again .
But I think it is because of the Time. What time did retreat end last year. After Midnight I believe.
So I am guessing with the people in the area it would stink for them because you know with the playing in the parking area (would say lot but their isn't one. )
That is one thing I liked about Scrotom .. Everyone went back to the lot. not to many houses around so this all could be done.

What is the hope of this thread. Do you think the BOD of both DCI and DCA are going to read it and say hmmm hey you know. Or some Corps directors
If so you best get back on topic. Because right now I just see it as a Bickering thread between a Few people about DCA
People who will not change their minds and even have said so. The only way that that change is going to happen is just like when you trying to get a drug addict to stop it will happen when they it to. The more you push the more they will fight.
So lets get back on topic.
Do I think the OP thought would work. Yes It planned correctly yeah I think it can, but only if DCA and DCI can play really nicely together in the sand box. Jeff mentioned they are working together better these days. Which is true I heard seen some signs .. One DCI organization has let DCA recruit at some of their band shows.. So that is a step in the right direction they are in back in the sandbox not one looking at the other one in it.. Now its time to start sharing the shovel and bucket.
DCI is good and DCA is good depends on your tastes

Glad this thread turned into a joke because one person who refuses to practically acknowledge that there are good DCA corps out there denies that turning to DCA could sustain and keep alive a struggling corps, should they choose to do so obviously.
Its a joke because EVERYONE is trying to get him to throw his arms up and say OK YES DCA CAN, and he is not going to because he knows it is ticking you off. The funnier part is you know it also you know he is just here to push buttons. Yet you still go at it. So I am laughing. Its basically the Howard Stern Effect.
I wanna see what is going to be said next. (I am sure he will probably find something in here to comment on watch)
Honestly do any of you think that because of this thread one corps just one corps will even say hey.. I am sorry but I really don't think so the problems are bigger than DCP. In perfect world this would work and well there goes that.

This thread has become a joke. It a few people fighting. Trying to defend DCA to basically TWO people who are in LOVE with DCI and ANYTHING said close to be a negative maybe to DCI even if it is not meant to be will be just as that. Tom is just going to keep posting his negative stuff no matter what, But the more you aim it at him the more ammo you give him. The bad part is the other is a moderator. How that happened as someone posted earlier with his track record gets me.
So it is just really funny this is going no where. Which is what the two wanted so it would get shut down.
we could sit here all day and debate this. But the only ones that are going to do anything are the boards of DCI and DCA until then everything is Moot. Because that is not going to happen anytime soon.
I think if the two worked TOGETHER Drum Corps could be really Good again..

This one's our Drum Major's '69 Dodge Dart. Please note that the guard girls stood alike even when they weren't marching.

The Car the guys are looking is a Javlin, same with the car to the left with just the headlight showing.. The white car is an Osmobile Or Buick. Dodge dart did not have the rounded fenders (from midpanel down on the white car) Dodge was more straight panels. Sorry I love muscle cars and I just notice that.. :)

If Pierce turned around? Are you kidding me? He was totally beat on that play, he tried tackling Watson before the ball got to him! IF Samuel and Harrison hold on to those 2 floaters that Manning threw in the last drive we wouldn't be discussing this either! Like I said earlier, the Giants D line dominated, not the Giants! Enjoy the moment, it may be a while before you get there again.
Yes if he had turned.. He would have seen the ball. He had the inside(under) Watson was moving to the back of the end zone the ball was thrown shorter than the back of the endzone so he(pierce) could have made a better play on the ball. Where he might have been able to do a couple of things knock it down or have an Int.
Watson on the other hand would have probably had to become a defender or he might have made a really good catch. Watson was trying to stop and wait for the ball When you see the play again you will see.. If the ball was thrown Higher to the back of the end zone and did not land where it did I would say he was beat . ( I might be wrong but playing OLB/MLB when I played for a few years and reviewing tapes to see how I could have done something different that is what I see.)
If you go here you will see Giants Defense Highlights starting at 19 seconds it shows the play from a high camera then at 24 second they show it closer and you see where I am talking about Peierce having inside (the under) postion where the ball need to be thrown over the top for Pierce to be totally beaten and not really have a play and also for Watson not to have to stop if Brady threw there Watson would not have slowed and turned more to the inside and probably still make the catch. So yeah not kidding if he had turned his head. :)

As for the Giants D line Dominating you are correct. As a Team I don't know I would have to argue just a little bit that too.. why offense they did move the ball at times better than Pats. Yes Pats D played big too and stopped them But remember early on the Giants were moving and then the Int which was not Eli's fault but hey If Smith held onto it .

Bottom Line it was a good game. When was the last time a SuperBowl was talked about this much. I don't remember any threads last year. Or is it just that Indiana does not have that many drum Corps folks .. and Bear fans just did not want to say anything.

The GIANTS were the better team yesterday....PERIOD!
The Patriots did NOT run out of steam, unless you consider all the times the Giants defense got to Brady.
Ball Control played some factor in it as well....keep the best offense in football off the field, and you can't score points!
Manning controled the clock better than I have ever seen from him. He also made some big plays, but none bigger than the 2 passes to Boss and Tyree in the 4th.
Oh yeah......can anyone tell me why Belicheat left the field with 2 seconds left on the clock? OK....I do give him credit for going over to shake Coughlin's hand, but isn't it customary for the loosing coach to stay with the team until the clock says 0:00?

Not a fan of Sweatshirt man.. But the stadium clock showed 0:00. That is why he left the field. But he was not happy to have to come back out.
Oh and about the sweatshirt. When we saw he did not have on the Grey one we said that is a good sign. Thought at half time he would change..
Now I have to give Randy Moss and Harrison Credit .. They gave the Giants credit ... Brady and SweatShirt Man Danced around it ..

I got to meet him when he and I had ACL knee surgery at the same time back in 1990.
We had the same doctor. He was a great guy, too, and he played the game incredibly well!!!
He still is a great guy.. He isn't dead :)

Best ting to happen to the Giants was Shockey got hurt.
I couldn't help but notices that Shockey was in a luxury box during the game. Anyone else think the team told him to stay off the sidelines like I did?
Congrats to the Giants. Sure surprised the hell out of me. I had em dead to rights in both the Dallas and GB games.
Shockey New that if he was their early in the week they media would focus on him like they did Tom Brady's Foot. So HE decided to come later and be there for the game.. His teammates wanted him their sooner because he is part of the team. Some might not like him but he is a good player one of the best run blocking Tightends the Giants have. With that said it is nice to see the others step up will make the team even that much better next season and well shockey is getting up their in football age so its nice to see good back ups.. Yeah he might have attitude but he has come a long way and has brought his emotions down.

Quite simple. Giants went to play. Cowboys didn't .. Giants wanted it more thats all. Now you see Talent and Stats doesn't = Win
Amazing how Heart and Desire can change some outcomes isn't .
one last thing.. Look at the last few weeks of the season. Dallas was playing crappy Giants after Pats game playing very well trust me as a Giant fan we are wondering were this team was all season.
Now as for the comparisions I like the orginal but like the one person said Colts and Cadet that is a good one moving around.. LOL
Who would get to go with Bills Getting to the show 4 times but not winning. That would have been phantom but they won so who next.. Bluecoats

As predicted correctly by TX, a few days later it hits page 2. I would think every corps in NY/NJ/CT and PA would jump on board with this, just to do it one time to see if it was worth it or not.
They might not have responded here but I know of a few that have been in touch with the Ussba person in charge of this.. I know that they are happy that Ussb is letting them into the shows.. One hand helping another it is good to see. Can only help Drum Corps all around in the future. Maybe Yea/Ussba since they have plenty of Members in Cadets that have marched All age and then go to Their corps is seeing that all Age can be A "Training Ground" for DCI and a place for a DCI age out to continue their love For Drum Corps. Hopkins was at Finals again this year. I believe he went to a practice or two Guess he is seeing what everyone else is. So I like this it is something rather than nothing.

AS A former Rochestarian who is TOTALLY dismayed at how big a DIVE the Paetec area has taken since I lived there I have a question?
How would the area residents even know about trash left in the area?
Its such a distressed area most dont venture out after dark! How about knocking down some of those abandoned houses..for a start?(OK..I am venting LOL...sorry)
At any rate...I am sure it was cleaned up.
For the record,,,it is a GREAT venue and DCA weekend was a TOTAL success!

No Mike don't even go there.. NO MATTER HOW THE PLACE IS BEFORE WE GET THERE >> WHEN WE AS FANS OR MEMBERS LEAVE IT SHOULD LOOK BETTER you know take the high road and represent the good.. Make them want us back..
What sucks is I am sure that the Corps left the garbage in bags etc.. But looks like the Birds and others creatures got into it and caused a bigger mess. It sucks that THEY Had to clean it up.. Next year be assured they will have reservations about corps warming up in there area. I hope that building where all the busses parked etc they will still be allowed to along with were all the corps warmed up.. would suck if they told corps to get off there property..
Just sucks that it had to happen and I hope the people will see the difference next year when We Drum Corps people leave it better than any other event..

I don't think it is that it is Cali fans are rude or ignorant it is just a little different out there when it comes to marching band. East Coast is said to have the most tuft drum corps fans and they do because East Coast fans don't cheer unless you do something. They sit there with there hands crossed and i'm not talking about at finals. i'm talking about some of the small shows like Bristol RI or in Rome NY and New Jersey and Boston.
Cali fans have not seen as much drum corps as East coast or midwest fans. I have another comparison. My cousin marched iN the U OF M marching band and he told me that the USC marching band acted really arogant and almost like they were going to play football against the U OF M band. They acted like it was a battle. I told him thats how BD acts in Drum corps and I think thats how just alot of West Coast marching band Drum corps fans are. Its just a different culture and it might suck but some might think its cool. I mean midwest fans cheer knowmatter what, but its almost to bando like. East Coast fans don't say nothing until you do something for them and West Coast fans BOO like its a sporting event if you suck. As far as respecting the Marine corps. Hello were in California like the most liberal state. I wonder sometimes if they even celabrate the 4th of JUly there.
It was home Show for BD and SCV that was obvious because if that show is not in Cali and on the East coast or even midwest Cadets win by a point and not to say that is right either.

I have to say I was completely unimpressed.
Here's a small list of why:
1. Entering and leaving DURING performances
2. Talking on cell phones
3. Did not applaud or stand for many of the corps - good portion of crowd
4. Shouting rude things during corps
5. Extreme bias toward "their" corps (funny - SCV & BD were always treated warmly on the East coast)
6. Over-drinking
7. Very little applause during songs, after solos, between songs
8. Late arrivers to stadium
9. Where was all this "West Coast Class" I kept hearing about - geez
10. Half of the crowd didn't even applaud the Marines - I could not believe that. Folks sitting and talking during the ovation for our MARINES!!! Ugh.
I could go on but you get the point.
Boo hiss! If finals go out west ever again I will not attend.
Crowd was a huge negative IMO
For this they earn my WORST AUDIENCE EVER award. (and I've attended finals since 1982)
Sorry I live on the East Coast and find the same thing at shows here so this really holds no water.. The only show that has some control is East.. I bet it happens at alot of shows these days times are different. Just have to deal.. it stinks but hey it is what it is..
DCI's in Boston in 05 .. All the same could be said.. and as for the etreme Bias same in Boston.
8 really makes me laugh.. Late arrivers.. half of the people are out watching the big dogs warm up.. :)

No, thats not what I meant....what I mean is that I dont like a show with narration......and I have seen alot
of them in BOA....hence if I wanted to watch a drum corps show with narration I would go to see a BOA contest.....I have nothing against the the Cadets members they have an awesome hornline and are great marchers.....I dont understand why the comment had to be responded to the way it was I said it was in my own opinion. And that kinda show is not what I would pay to go watch at a DCI show........peace

You probably could not make it through a cadet show because you would be too tired at the end because your so used to marching basic blocks the whole show and bopping. You deff could not handle the rehearsal time.
Why do you think Gino left. Sad to say the hornline there has not sounded as good since he did.
Last great sounding devil line in my opinion that was far better than anyone else was 99 brother. Gino ran that hornline from 94 through 99 and those were hands down far away the best hornlines I've ever heard in DCI. I'm a cadet fan but even 95 cadets should not have tied BD for brass. Blue devils were half a point better than everyone in horns then. Not so much lately guy.
Well this says it all. Even Gino's Great lines lose now and then. Maybe Cadets should have stopped just one more time and played a lick. :)
Oh and by the way. You did not need to tell us you were Cadet fan I think that is very plain to see.. :) I am also thinking if there was a contest to win a date with Gino you might be in the line to win a chance.. (I kid I kid) :)

I have to say this. It should be the opposite. It should look really hard and be easy. IF it is hard and does not look hard than it makes no sense to march hard drill. I know people that marched both cadets and devils and they said getting through a devil show was like one lap around the track compared to 8 laps around which like a cadet one. He also said when it came to making changes in drill Blue devils would freak out and were really bad at changing charts in the summer while cadets change about 20 or 30 pages sometimes whole features of drill charts in the middle of July. What I mean by CLass with BD is not how good they sound or how clean they march. They are super clean and march really well and sound great.
Its the goofy stuff they do on retreat like act like idiots and then smoke in their uniforms and look homeless with their facial hair and hair cuts. Act more cocky and full of themeselves than any other corps out there. Thats what I mean by class.
Ummm I am not sure where you were in 2002.. But BD changed half of their show in Late July.(including music) This year they made a number changes through out the season up until finals week. ( I know I helped sponsor a member and he would call me and tell me the changes.. So I think my he said she said is beating yours)
So the Devils are the only ones that do anyting on retreat?
Now I see why Crossmen always ate after you guys.. You Eat After Their memebers since they had facial hair and long hair were considered homeless.. :)

Since the planning process began more than two years ago, we’ve realized that the possibility existed that the new stadium might not be ready in time to accommodate our 2008 World Championships,” said Dan Acheson, Executive Director and CEO of Drum Corps International. “Unfortunately, as we found out this afternoon from a local news outlet, stadium construction officials have determined that the stadium will not be ready in time for our event this summer. We’re a bit frustrated that we were ‘scooped’ on learning of this development, as we had no direct knowledge prior to the announcement that a change of venue was imminent. The notification occurring in this manner was not what any of those directly involved with our World Championships events had intended.”
I don't know you've been in planning for two years. (I read on here somewhere about Dan and all the officals of the Stadium together I think at the ground breaking etc.) How does that happen. How do you not tell an organization that you have been in planning with for TWO YEARS for Their Big Event Baiscally The WEDDING DAY. That its not going to happen but you tell the media first. My guess if you just don't think they matter Awww F'm . That just blows. Wouldn't that be something if BOA new before DCI did.. HMMMMMM?
