  1. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RetroSound Drum and Bugle Corps and Capital Brass! are proud to announce an affiliation for the 2007 season with the goal of producing ensembles to perform in a variety of venues throughout the year. This arrangement will provide many opportunities for area musicians, as well as some exciting events for area drum corps and live music fans! Work is already underway with formal rehearsals starting in mid-September.

Parades, standstill concerts, and marching music in a traditional drum corps style will be the main thrust of RetroSound Drum and Bugle Corps, while Capital Brass! will produce a standstill "mini-corps" playing a variety of music styles.

The Retro Sound Board of Directors brings extensive experience with DCA field and alumni corps and also has members with recent drum corps management experience. The Capital Brass! Planning Board is represented by ex-members of the Capitol Brass Sr Corps - the last competitive corps, junior OR senior, to hail from the Capital Region of NY State; and brings experience in producing professional ensembles as well as competitive drum corps.

The combined organizations have a wealth of experience in performance, production, corps management and in coordinating DCA contests and other events. Both groups will offer quality instruction from experienced professionals.

Recent discussions between the two young groups uncovered a common desire to bring drum corps opportunities to area musicians, despite their diverse approaches; and also, a great potential for synergy in combining their efforts on several management and creative levels. It is expected that a joint effort to launch these programs, as well as ongoing cooperation and support between the groups, will result in more successful and satisfactory results for both groups in 2007.

We encourage anyone interested to hop on board early so that you may help plot our course towards the future! We look forward to meeting you and performing for you in 2007! Be sure to tell your family and friends about this exciting opportunity.

  3. Totally awesome weekend camp in Dover for the Skyliners! All the hype is 1000% true baby! Great people, Great staff, Great music, Great atmosphere. If you don't believe me, come sit in for our next rehearsal camp and see for yourself. I can honestly say that this has been one of the most amazingly fun weekends I have had with the corps in the past couple years... This is going to be a great year. Come check it out!

You gotta love this news. B)

  4. Greener pastures? What's that? When my wife and I joined the New York Skyliners with a few of our closest friends back in 1986, we thought all of us would be with the Skyliners forever. While some of them don't march with NY anymore, the Skyliners are still their corps. I don't recall any of them going to any other major DCA corps. The true red and black Skyliners don't march anywhere else. Just as I would think, true Cab, Sun, and Hurricane wouldn't march anywhere else. What is it about the old guard that would make people devote themselves to that one corps?

Even though the Skyliners are barely a shell of what were when I began with the corps 21 years ago, I've always said I wouldn't go anywhere else, and so far I haven't. The New York Skyliners are my corps.

Tomorrow Morning is the start of somthing very special! :)

  5. Hey - Lee might get his wish.

The weather this weekend is also supposed to be WARM, too! Up to 57 - 60 degrees on Saturday and Sunday ! Not bad for January 13-14

The farmers are nervous since trees and other vegetation are starting to sprout again, but us East Coast travellers enjoyed an easy commute over the holidays and a pleasant January !

  8. Hey, come on down, and shake hands with 10 or 12 Hall of Famers. Bring a contra bass, and I personally guarantee you will drink for free!!

Charlie Welch will be in the House, along with James D'Amico and some manic Bumblebee he brings with him, and the 3 Rabbis, including the Chief Rebbe hisself, Johnny Grass (all with sincere respect and regard for our Orthodox Community!). Elks on Parade, of course, and, in general, the most welcoming and down to earth bunch anywheres!

    Hey, it couldn' hoit!

Bill Moore (I know the "score") B)

Only 7 days remain. I have my contra out ~ Do you? New charts coming soon!!! ^0^

  9. Now, now, Joe..

    Let's be honest ...

If someone worked REAL hard at it, they COULD be a worse snare drummer than you.

I will NEVER forget your little drum solo!

And the big, surprise DYN-O-MITE show ending!

    LOL!!!!!

And now that I think about it, as a mellophone player...

you do make one AWFUL snare drummer.

Great work Joe and Tom. That is the way to keep history alive and well. ^0^
