I think ZIngali wrote the 1985 Star drill. It really looks like him. Of course, he wrote '86 before returning to Garfield in '87. Sylvester wrote Suncoast '86, I think. Really? Klesch went back to Cadets from 1990-1992? I'd no idea. Who wrote Star's 1993 horn book?

Jim Prime was the brass arranger for Star of Indiana in '93.

Gail Royer always said his favorite show was the 1968 Chicago Royalaires.  I could never find either audio or video of that show.

I'd like to see live any show that impressed that arranging wizard from SCV.

Actually Gail said the 1965 Chicago Royal Airs was his favorite performance. He was a brass judge at the VFW Nationals in Chicago in '65. (start at marker 2:07)

Those on here much closer to the Cadets than Me, will have to say for certain. But I think it was Jim Prime and/ or Donnie Van Doren that wrote the brass charts/ music ? ..., Thom Hannum Percussion ?... Maybe Peggy Twiggs doing wonders with that '84 Cadets Guard ?

What a great show and MM talent Cadets had in '84, and a terrific follow up to their fine '83 production.

Jimmer was the brass arranger, Donnie the brass caption and Michael Cesario the program coordinator.

Klesch is great and all but he is not the only one over the years who has given us marvelous brass arrangements...in no particular order...

Jay Bocook, Wayne Downey, Scott Boerma, Jim Ott(RIP), Gail Royer(RIP),Jim Wren, Key Poulan, Richard Saucedo, J.D. Shaw, Doug Thrower, Brad Kerr Green, Will Pitts, Ryan George, Michael Martin, Chuck Naffier, Robert W Smith, Andrew Markworth, Frank Dorritie, Timothy Salzman, Ken Norman, Emil Pavlik, Frank Williams, Larry Kerchner, Sal Ferrera, James Wedge, James Elvord, Jim Prime Jr., Sandra Opie, Truman Crawford, Jack Meehan

I agree with all of these and would include Ray Baumgardt.

Wasn't the '97 show pretty much all original?

Boerma wrote the opener "The Adventure Begins" and Taras Nahirniak wrote the closing production number "Confrontation & Finale"

Middle section: "Songs of the quay" by Goff Richards and "Moods of the Sea" from the Tall Ships Sutie by David Royalance

What nice beautiful music. Sad that with such talent, some will be let go. What a nice problem to have for the corps,

Anyone have the name of the piece or of the conductor?

Superheroes don' get sick 'cause there is no such thing as too much chocolate.

"You Are Mine" by Christopher Aspaas. The conductor at the Cadets audition was Dee Walker.

The hurricanes show is going to be called Porgy and Bess

The Connecticut Hurricanes are proud to announce our 2017 production of George Gershwin’s masterpiece “Porgy and Bess.” The Hurricanes have a long tradition of exploring the transcendent of Gershwin and this year’s corps will look to build on that tradition while exploring the theatrical production value of “Porgy and Bess” in a fresh and exciting way. The 2017 Design Team has been working hard on the details of this production for several months and are committed to developing a competitive program that will be well received by our members and the DCA audience.

“Porgy and Bess,” written as an opera in 1934, is one of Gershwin’s seminal works and produced a wide array of songs that would go on to become standard repertoire. Our 2017 production will draw inspiration from the original opera as well as the interpretations of Mile Davis, Buddy Rich, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Jascha Heifetz and the 2012 Broadway revival starring Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis.

    Selections will include:
    My Man’s Gone Now
    Summertime
Bess, You is My Woman Now
    It Ain’t Necessarily So
Oh Lord, I’m On My Way

  9. Some good new info on the Scouts Facebook page added today re. the 2016 show, along with glimpse of the Madison's Percussion section that looks and sounds good to my ears.

Scouts will utilize an electric guitarist for a portion of the show this season. ' Looking forward to that new twist from them too.

I don't think there will be an actual guitarist, only sound bites from the front ensemble of an electric guitar.

"Hawthorne Caballeros present their 2016 70th Anniversary production…

    Red, White & Black

With a deep rich history spanning the last seventy years, the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps has always stayed true to their identity of flare and entertainment while also progressing forward with contemporary productions. Red, White & Black will be unlike any other anniversary production for the Caballeros as it will tell the story of this beloved performance ensemble and even write the story that has yet to come. In three movements this production will honor the past with variations on Ernesto Lecuona’s classic composition “Malaguena”, cherish the present with Adele’s “Million Years Ago” from her newest album 25 and inspire the future with a modern and dark original piece composed by Andrew Yozviak."
