Finally....minus the in before the close part.

Oh, harsh. Leave the Proverbial Baby alone!
*punches more babies*

I don't think that ICE has the mental capacity to even march a season of drum corps...
Hey buddy. Thanks for the personal attack.
-
I voted Cadets, it was my least favorite show of the year(decade) .
~G~
Would you prefer the Racine Scouts with their inflatabile sharks and dolphins (pool toys), or The Cadets with their benches?

Pay no attention, my Cap Reg brothers and sisters.
Let people spew what they will spew behind the anonymity of the internet.
THIS former member appreciated every minute of your effort!
I too appreciate their effort. However, that does not mean I think they had a good show performance-wise or design-wise. Please read my posts.

Opinions are fine. You don't have to like the show design.
Stuff like this:
Is uncalled for and also completely untrue.
They didn't execute ANYTHING well? Well crap! They shouldn't have even been allowed to take the field!
I was replying to other posters who seemed to think capital regiment had a wonderful performance. That is way I said they didn't execute that well.

I will say it again - I think everyone could benefit from reading the
book called "How to win friends and influence people". :)
I'm sorry my online interactions lack the sincerity you desire.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL, when you get into high school, they will teach you the pros and cons of making blanket statements and the need for proof in order to retain credibility. LOL LOL, gotta love your enthusiasm though :)

Everyone, let us pay attention to these great words when deciding how to post. May we all, including ~G~ himself, live up to this standard.

I think the mere fact that you made a thread simply for the purpose of pointing out a "mediocre" portion of a 16th place show is pretty random and un-necessary. I know you are entitled to your opinion, but im sure we all can point out design flaws in all the shows that didn't make finals and even shows that made finals. It's obvious by placement that the show had flaws in one way or another, or else it would be placed higher.
The kids gave it their all and I thought they did a fantastic job and it was quite an entertaining show with a high energy finish that brought the crowd to their feet. I'm sure if you ask the kids, the staff and those of us who just sat back and enjoyed the drum corps experience, that was all that mattered.
You bring up a good point. I wish we could talk more in depth about show design and performance quality without offending people or it turning into a debate about electronics/biases/etc. As I've said before, I respect the performers. I simply wanted to start a discussion about that portion of the show. I realize I could have done that in a more effective/productive way now. I apologize.
-
Couldn't the same be said about EVERY Drum Corps performance ever put out there? As far as I know there has never been a score of 100.
Yes.
-
Listen folks, I never insulted anyone personally, unlike some of you. The show wasn't bad. It was simply so-so. I never said it wasn't enjoyable. But when you compare the quality of performance to other corps, or even a standard, the show was just mediocre.
-
i worked hard for 2 and half months ........beating myself up to preform that show to the highest for someone to call it mediocre?........that really kinda hurts........it makes it feel like all that hard work was for nothing..........i loved that part of the show.......it was a chance for us to just lay back and have a little fun in the show.........i'm very sorry that you felt like it was just mediocre........but for us that worked hard on that show dont
I don't understand this logic. Compared to the potential level of excellence in your corps performance, your actual performance was mediocre. There were many individual/performance issues. Plus the show design wasn't that great, notably the transition from the play section to the closing segment of the show. It's the truth, I'm not lying to you. The judges thought so too. You're right, you worked hard, however I think you should come to terms with the fact that the end product wasn't as good as it could have been.
-
If you call being plain and honest with people on this board, then sure. I'm really tired of the crap constantly being slung on this board. You have no idea what a joke people in the drum corps community truly think people on this board are. You don't see it because they aren't posting on here, but haha, they're definitely reading! And trust me, they're laughing.
This is true.

So Ice......
Did you march corps?
Just curious because using the word "crap" to describe a selection of a show is very disrespectful. To the designers of the show and the members....
The closer was executed well by the performers and they were having a good time... Isn't that what it is all about?
-No. I see that since you've marched corps that makes your opinion on show design more valid than mine.
-I meant crap because all these things were fluff. Not saying it was bad.
-I don't think the performers executed anything in that show well. It was a mediocre performance and a mediocre design. Thier placement reflected that. I do admire the spirit the players had and how much work they did, however I'm just being honest.

errr..portraying the music to the audience, Maybe?..I swear that's on the GE sheets..
Hell..the anti-ampers should love that is was done sans microphone
Give 'em credit..God knows those kids went through enough... :sshh:
chheck your dvd, they use microphones

what was with all the random crap in that part of the show? Frisbee, singing/chanting, skipping, twirling trumpets? Wow.
-
I can't stand that Crocker fellow narrating the beginning of every show
-
It is interesting to see Spirit take a political stance like this. I'm looking forward to the show and what kind of reactions develop.
-
I get it. DCA isn't good enough.
It's not as if Chops Inc. is the highest quality DCA corps out there. Their performances often fall short of most junior div. 1 corps anyway.

I'm hoping Marc Sylvester can respond to this thread.

"what we respond to in any work of art is the artist’s struggle against his or her limitations.”
Discuss.

Suncoast Sound is playing the best of The Eagles.

Not to defend the poster that started this particular debate, because I think the idea of segregation by orientation is absurd, but I must say that every single hetero teenage boy would have sex on his mind in a hurry if faced with the prospect of showering with the girls. Long practice, kicked all over a football field, or not. Especially when you've got the tour goggles on. This is just my opinion from my own experience being a teenage boy not so long ago.
That is exactly right. That's all I'm suggesting: that some guys feel uncomfortable because of this. I'm not suggesting segregation, however, blowing up at someone who doesn't like showering with gay guys is just as ignorant.
