  1. Normally I would agree with you, but DCA is seeing a significant increase corps. I have also noticed that many of their corps are getting younger and younger (almost as young as junior corps). They are out there, they are just finding new ways to survive. DCI or nothing is not an accurate statement anymore.

I believe the appeal of DCa to younger kids is one of time commitment and money. I know that MOST DCA corps are much cheaper than DCI corps, not to mention the time commitment, for most, are only weekends, most open class junior corps have a more intensive schedule than that.

Its a lot cheaper for a corps to be a DCA member as well.

  2. It is hard to go noticed when you have a bigger brother usually. Who do think a majority of schools recognize more? The older, more athletic, and popular brother? Or the younger, more feeble and intellectual one that tutored the older brother?

I tried with an analogy. Welcome to the educational system as of today as we know it. Sadly. Criticize if you want.

  3. Predictions Predictions. Fun Stuff. I'm going to divide it up though...

    Thoughts:

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Top 6 Corps will be (no specific order):

    -Turquoise Noise

    -Vanguard

    -BDB

    -Surf

    -Fever

    -Citations

Battle for 1st and 2nd Place:

    Jersey Surf and Teal Sound

Battle for 3rd Place: (way too early to tell who will be closer to it than others)

    BDB, Fever, SCVC, and Citations

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    Corps 7-12 (no specific order)

-OC ----------> Will Benefit from Cascades drop out of competition

-VK ----------> Awesome start last year. They will most likely get a lot of new membership and keep experienced vets.

-Mempho ----------> Reigning Div III Champs will still be strong

    -Revolution ----------> Consistently Excellent

-Raiders ----------> Perhaps a little hurt from Surf getting a lot of the membership in Jersey area? (random guess) Still top 12 product though

-Beatrix ----------> Can't forget these guys! (I heard they are competing in Open not International?)

Battle for the 7th Place spot:

    Mempho, OC, and Revo

Bottom Spots could belong to anyone:

    Beatrix, Raiders, VK

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Corps who will probably be duking it out to try to squeeze into Finals (Spots 13-17 No Order):

Dutch Boy, Spartans, Impulse, Cap Sound, Spokane Thunder

You dont mention Spartans once. Interesting. But you mention Beatrix?! hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  4. You should check your sources, as he is stating that none of the staff was fired..

I think that you need to read my quoted post. He accused Spartans of "gutting" their staff. Pretty sure that is a synonym for "Fired."

Indeed no one will ever know what happened. SO march this summer and stop complaining. If you are mad at Spartans go march somewhere and compete against them. If you are defensive of Spartans, go march there and compete against all the pessimists.

  5. But who knows, maybe the Cadets will inexplicably fire their whole staff and subsequently lose their 98% of their membership all while claiming everythings fine (it has been known to happen). Then, MAYBE, Spartans would have a solid shot at coming within 20 points of another world corps (yeah including pioneer).

Speaking of which, can you imagine if cadets did that? gutted there staff? and if they had 25 horns at there january camp...the OUTRAGE thatw ould ensue. but for some reason with the spartans everyone seems to be saying 'its ok their going to be good no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!!' doesnt really make sense does it :w00t:

From what my friend told me, the staff was not fired. They left on their own accord. Get your facts straight. Maybe you should save all your energy for the field, or whatever it is that you are doing for the summer.

  6. PATHETIC.

Agreed! Also - remarkably lacking in "class." There appears to be alot of misused energy - think about what could be accomplished by everyone if all of these energies were going toward some  positive endeavors.

No staff member. Just an observer. I think its crazy and absurd. That is all.

  7. You would rather see a corps collapse and fall instead of succeed and become great. If you guys were former staff members making these posts you SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!!!

All that you taught at Spartans has been made jibberish to the students you used to teach if you are to make posts that could doom the organization. And shame on former members posting against the corps that gave them the experiences of their life.

That goes for any corps not just Spartans. Grow up and get over the fact that you have no control over the organization anymore.

    PATHETIC.

  8. I too want to support my favorite Northeast Corps. I hope you have a great transition and do all the best. From what I know of the corps history... The last time there was a huge staff change they won the Championship within a year or two. Who knows... it could be a repeat.
