Really enjoying PC so far.

Corny....also known as old school ballad.
The soloist did a good job, I just can never take that song seriously.
-
I can't help but laugh whenever I hear "All by Myself". It's just too corny for it's own good no matter who plays it.

There is precedent for that--not by phone-tree popular demand--but DCI has invited select corps to perform in exhibition Saturday. So there's a chance.
Hopefully they do it. An insanely likable tribute show on the 40th anniversary of DCI? It makes sense.

Surf did an awesome job this year. Man if they coulda gotten to go Saturday night, they'd have blown the roof off that dome.
Get on the phones. We need a Surf exhibition Saturday night.

That show is just too cool.

Pioneer needs to do Flogging Molly.

I'm surprised at how Pioneer finds different ways to do Irish every year.

Going back to watch Music City. This is a fun corps to watch.

My goodness what a corps. That was stout.

Everything about that ending is just so right.

Open roof threads. A DCP tradition since 2009.

Really sad to hear. Never want to see a corps have to call it quits.

My mom showed me the 03 finals broadcast before my freshman year in high school, but it didn't really stick. A couple of months later, one of my friends handed me a CD with "1996 Blue Devils" scribbled on it (we were playing Club Blue as our show that year). First big hit was all it took.

I'm willing to bet Crossmen are aiming to be that corps. (but it is still very hard for me to see them as "from" Texas, even though they are just 90 miles from me in Austin.)
Don't forget Forte.

Has anyone been in section 137? I'm in 137, row 6 for Saturday night. I figured sitting down low would be better from a sound standpoint than in 636 where I sat last year. You couldn't hear a single drumline or brass soloist from up there.

Stop quoting the Cavaliers guard picture. It's making me dizzy.

What I'm assuming and hoping is preshow is corny. The rest of it works much better than i though it would.

Civility is overrated. I look forward to flamethrowing with all of you idiots this summer.

From the second I first heard the 1996 Blue Devils it has been all about emotion to me. The ability of 150 people to pull emotions from you that one wouldn't normally expect to show for a "marching band". I always thought it was silly to read people getting choked up at a drum corps program until I actually did it. Few things get me excited like a big brassline bringing a show home at full volume with every ounce of what they have left. To see the looks of the performers after they put on what they know is a spectacular performance is awesome. It's a special thing that sucks you in and takes you for a mental and emotional 12 minute ride when done just right and it's not something you can get just anywhere.

Crown is looking goooooood!

I havent seen this one up close, but the panel (that's what we actually call them) had gotten smaller each season from 08-10. This years looks just about as long as last years, but is more stylized with the slit in the side and will probably look really cool in motion.
Has it always wrapped around that far? Maybe I'm just now noticing how far it goes because it is blue on the outside instead of black.
-
Academy: Pleasantly surprised. It has room for tweaking season after season with a different shirt/tie color combination.
Blue Devils: It's not earth shattering, but it's alright. I could do without the black striping on the left sleeve. It would have looked better as white stripes or just a solid blue sleeve with those small white stripes continuing to the shoulder. My only real issue is that huge drop sash. It's gone from small dangly sash to a half skirt.

I only wore spats for three years in a college band and couldn't stand them. They stayed dirty from the first gameday to the point where the elastic strap under your shoe snapped, which was usually the second gameday. I am firmly anti-spat.
