There is a store in lansing iowa called archives on main. The owner bought a boatload of records from me and in it was a ton of dci records. You can try contacting him. He has a facebook page for his store. Good luck. My first year of marching was 1981 and I ordered EVERY single corps from that year. Ken kobold did the recordings. I still have them.

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t had any luck getting in touch with the owner of the shop. I’ve emailed and left a few messages.

  3. I’m in search of various DCI LPs, CDs, and DVDs. If anyone would like to sell or trade, send me a message.

For LPs I’m mostly looking for early 70s and late 80s volumes.

For CDs I’m looking for 1988 through 1996.

For DVDs I’m looking for anything up to 1989.

  4. For those of you who have converted your lps into digital files, what software have you used? Also, I’m not too satisfied with my current turntable so what would you all recommend for a turntable with or without conversion capabilities? I guess I’m just wondering what is the best method to convert from vinyl.

Which master list do you want, a list of recordings that used to be commercially available? Or a list of possible sources? I think for 2006 & 2007 I bought the downloads of finals from DCI and copped the prelims show audio from the Vol. 2 DVDs. The DVDs and CDs for any given year often sound very different.

Having a list of the media produced commercially would be helpful especially in these cases where there were two versions of cd sets for certain years. I didn’t begin following drum corps until 2001 so I definitely would appreciate having this information pre-2001.

And I too would love to have the Fam Network again. I just wasn’t in a position to take advantage of it then as I am and would now.

    For CD sets -

First, in the mid 90's DCI released the Collector's Edition sets with 1972 - 1996 top 12 on CD (five volumes, five cd sets in each volume, 2 CD's per set)

1988 - first year for CD, top 12 only

    1989 - top 12

    1990 - top 21

91 - now, most years top 21 or more, depending on how many corps did semis or how many corps were World Class, etc.  I think in 2006 DCI only did top 12 on CD then rest of corps were released via audio downloads, and the same for 2007.  They went back to top 21 or whatever in 2008 and have been that way pretty much since.  Some CD sets were 4 volumes, others 3 most years.

They also released various CD's like Ornaments in Brass, Best of the 90's,and midseason CD sets from 1998 to 2002 or 2003 (corps recorded midseason at San Antonio or similar).

This is where a master list would be helpful. I believe 2006 and 2007 cds we’re only top 12. But was there a separate cd for semifinalists and quarterfinalists?

I have the 1994 cd which is two discs but is top 14, I believe. But my 1993 is three discs and top 21. Was there an additional 1994 disc? Or were there ever different versions of CDs of the same year that were offered like a finalist CD set and also a finalist/semifinalist/quarterfinalist set?

  7. I am in the process of rebuilding/building my drum corps media library including vinyl, CDs, DVDs, etc. I was wondering if anyone has a list of what media was produced annually by DCI so that I can have a better understanding of what is actually out there to find. For example, in 1983 there were five volumes of vinyl produced, but in 1984, there were six volumes produced. Likewise some cd sets only have the top twelve finalists instead of the top twenty-one corps. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in this pursuit.

And as a shameful plug, if you have any media that you would consider letting go, send me a message.

  8. I’ve posted on the marketplace forum before, but I also wanted to post here for possible traction. I’ve been searching for basically any of the vinyl records that DCI released. If anyone is willing to part ways with their vinyl or knows someone whom I should contact, please send me a message.

    Hello Afoster87,

Here is a list of the DCI albums I can sell.

    74  3 volume set

    77 vol. 2,3,4,5,

    78 5 vol. set

    79 5 vol. set

    80 vol. 3

    84 vol. 4,5,6

    85 vol. 1

Let me know if you're interested.  I'm going to have to think about what to ask for them and get an idea of the shipping cost.

Sounds like you're interested in only DCI albums but I also, I have a ton of pre DCI albums going all the way back to 1958 and some DCA stuff from the 70s and 80s.  A friend just gave me her father's collection of over 200 records, many of which I already had.

I am interested in all the DCI records. Would you send me a private message when you think of a price? Once I know what you’d ask, I’ll decide if I want them all or only some.

My son badly sprained his ankle, we thought it was broken. We may be eligible to sit in the handicapped area. We have three good seats: section E, Row 8. I will contact Ticketmaster to see if we can move and then make our old seats available to purchase.

Mike, I'm so sorry about your son. I hope his ankle heals quickly.

I would gladly buy those tickets from you if your family is able to move. I only need two but would buy all three from you.
