    MA RAUD ERS

    Dear Lane,

Gotta tell ya...you are a legend to us kiddies that were in the Cascades in the early 90's. I can't tell you how many times we attempted to imitate your unique count off style...."Whon, Tew...Whon Tew Thrrree Foooh" LOL. Classic stuff, great shows....I miss the Marauders!

Yeah...and SW too. The Robin Hood show was awesome. "TO THE TREES!!!"

  2. Classic was the guy who yelled in 1992 Crossmen in the end of the Journey Under the Sun,

    CROSSMEN DRUMLINEeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I still have that embeded into my mind.

Toby Bathurst. Marauders Cymbal/Bass Tech Extraordinaire. Had a little bit to drink that night...made that lil outburst from within the Bones staff zone. They did indeed give him the stink face...but he made it out of Madison alive. Besides, we were all thinking it anyway, he just had the balls to say it.

  3. 1990 was Float's last season with the Blue Devils. If I'm not mistaken, 1992 was Float's first year with VK.

You are correct. Ralph Hardimon was with VK in 91...Float in 92/93/94(w Paul Rennick)...Paul Rennick in 95. Mike Jackson in 96. Spam might be able to enlighten us on who was in charge in 90. Anyway... Welcome back VK!

  4. I don't know about them, but ingsmen alumni is using Mylar, made by Remo, and they sound great! Easier on the hands and sound great too....hmmm, soon, just maybe, lines will go back to being technique driven again. We shall see....

Ive also heard that quite a few Cali HS groups are using mylar these days. I personally think its great. I just wonder how the judging community deals with such a wide variance in sound and technique from group to group.

  5. Just got the word that Scades snareline is going with mylar heads this year. Has anyone had a chance to check them out or have any idea what brand of head they're using? The last decent mylar head I knew of was the Premier Marathon...but they were discontinued years ago. Regardless, I think its a gutsy move. Cant wait to hear how they sound in the ensemble.

  6. Clearly I don't. It just seems like a bad excuse to quit drum corps. Is it really worth keeping your hair (which would probably grow back in about six months) for a lifetime's worth of memories and friendships?

More like 3 years...he had very long hair. And I dont think he would want you fretting over him. He had many fruitful years in drum corps in which he made many friends and memories. Mostly all very weird.

  7. Long story short... They had a guy come in to fill the spot toward the end of camp season. Once the existing members of the Bass Line informed this cantidate of their shaved head "policy", he bailed. They then chose to stick with 4 for tour, as that was the number that they had been using all camp season, and they wanted to avoid a similar scenario with another cantidate.
