Boy, this thread sure is hoppin'.

C'mon storms - just push east a bit so we can have a show. I've got releatives that want to see their PHANtastic niece perform!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful pix.

Good luck Phantom with all the changes.

Thankyou!
Your pix are always amazing!

Ridiculously obvious solution regarding ALL threads. IGNORE the ones you're not interested in. I probably only read 10% of the threads but it's pretty inane to complain about the ones I'm not interested in.
GO INT!
Last year's theme - Xanadu.

Sorry - gotta do this once.............

I love the Phantom music this year. I'm surprised that so many people are focussed on always having a strong story line. If a show has dynamic music, something entertaining to watch on the field, i.e. colorful flags, rifles and sabers (or violins, ski poles, whatever) tossed well and kids putting every ounce of their being into performing, I could give a rat's patootie if there is a powerful story line. I have enjoyed many shows over the years where I get a feeling of a theme but would never detect a specific story unless I read the bio.
For me, it is sooooo much more about the music and the heartfelt efforts of the members. Did I love Spartacus last year - you betcha! And I've loved other story-driven shows as well. Sometimes, strong story/character driven shows have totally missed the mark with me and I would just prefer to focus on watching the musicians perform or watch a terrific rifle line tossing and catching to perfection. I'm one of the fans that sits up close and wants to have my face blown off. Sometimes I even close my eyes....
This isn't DCI Drum Bugle and Theatre corps...............JMO of course. YMMV

Darn double post - grrr............

Thank you so much! Been anxiously awaiting to see Phantom.

Audition for corps that are within driving distance. Airfare for 7 or 8 camps can easily add up to $1500.00 - $2,000.00. Gotta fly home from finals too.
-
OT .. PhanFan I watched your audition 2 years ago. You're a phenominal musician!!!! It was exciting to watch that process and see the INSTANT acceptance of the staff. I hope you're still doing it somewhere in some capacity!
I'm mom of corps member, not the member, lol. Guess the picture is a little misleading.
Kelsey is still with Phantom, front and center. She is the pit section leader now.

Wish I could be there. Go Regiment!!!
Y'all be careful in the heat

i know the feeling. however, i do know they'll take your money easily!
And if you have a kid in corps, they'll take LOTS of your money, year after year after year after year after year. Yup - that's 5 years with 2 more to go.....

I WILL LEAVE WORK EARLY and do this for you on Monday!
My boss understands how much I love drum corp (especially Phantom) even tho I have never had kids of my own.
I have sponsored.
I housed one year.
...and I try to do as much volunteering as I can.
TELL ME where this cake will be and I will do my best to get it there for dinner at 5pm on Monday.
OK?????
PHANtastic! I'll go call the bakery and I'll post back in a little bit.
-
Sorry, I can't help you with the cake situation, but I did stand directly in front of your daughter during rehearsal yesterday. It was almost surreal, since I was thinking to myself, "I kind of 'know' your mom through DCP," but she of course wouldn't know me from a bag of cymbals.
I'm so jealous - I haven't seen her since May 14th and won't see her or Phantom until July 19th in San Antonio.
-
HEY PhanFan - what time is dinner?
MAYBE I can help you?
I think there is a 'dress rehersal' type show that night that I wanted to attend anyway.
Give me an idea of when you wanted the cake to arrive, who to take it to, and where it is.
Ellice Ford (I actually live & work in Rockford so its a short drive)
Dinner is at 5:00, ensemble is at 6:00. If you can for sure do this - let me know. I'll have to call the bakery and/or Walmart.
Thanks a bunch.

REQUEST
Is anyone going to be at Phantom's practice site on Monday, June 29th? (Beloit HS)
I'm trying to get a birthday cake to my daughter and haven't found a bakery that will deliver a cake. There's a bakery about 3 miles from the site and a Walmart about 4 miles away. I would prepay for the cake - just need someone to pick it up. Either lunch or dinnertime would work.
It's so hard to do these darn summer drumcorps birthdays.
-
They should be done by now - anyone have anything to report?
-
I think they are supposed to add one synth to the pit to play a certain "violin" part.

Phantom pit had at least 4 age-outs this year.
