"Stay in their neighborhood"?? Why wouldn't it be possible for Spirit to move up? Were you were there to see the performances and have some actual basis for the remark? Or do you just think that Spirit belongs in a certain neighborhood? I'm sure your observation that Spirit will score higher than 82 wasn't meant to come across as condescending, but it certainly reads that way. By the way, you are right - Spirit did score higher than an 82 - according the the panel of judges in the afternoon show.

I don't know what you mean "out of place", but the fact that they came into San Antonio and jumped 2.2 points head to head with all the other corps in their "bracket" in the afternoon show should tell you that maybe they are getting their show cleaner. The only thing that seemed out of place is your prediction that they would score a 77 in the night show. Why would they drop over 5.5 points from the afternoon to the evening?

I wonder why the first reaction would be that Spirit couldn't be as good as their score? I agree with oldsoprano - maybe they were just that much better than the corps that scored lower that they did! Maybe they have just got some of the changes that they have made working for them now.

FYI, the show in July is at McCeachean HS, not Kennesaw. This is Spirit's Atlanta show.
