It is with great sadness that I report to you all of the passing of a great Drum Corps legend.
> Mr. Fred Lord passed away at 3:30am Mon. March 10 at Baystate Hospital in Springfield, Mass. He was there after falling into a diabetic coma.
The Marksmen family have lost a very dear friend and true Marksmen. All arangements will be handled by his son Fred Jr. Doug White and Ron Sagan will also be notified of all arangements.
You were all like family to him .
Fred, my dear friend. May you now rest in peace and may we all be comforted knowing that you are in no more pain. You were a significant part of a great organization, and a great man. I will certainly miss our nightly chats, and your constant encouragement. I know that you are once again standing on the 50.

That picture is a thing of beauty. Just look at the stick angles, hand and finger positions - almost perfect. Even their feet are together.
Not to mention the drum heights,,,perfect!

I just wonder why, when old school rifle squads get mentioned, that the late 70's and early 80's Guardsmen girls never get mentioned. They were jaw-dropping fantastic at what they did.

Music City Legend Drum and Bugle Corps of Nashville, Tennessee, has agreed to an endorsement contract with D’Addario & Company, Inc., of Farmingdale, New York. Music City Legend, which placed 11th at the 2007 DCA World Championship in Rochester, New York, and Legend Independent, its new competitive winter indoor percussion ensemble, will perform exclusively on Evans drum heads as part of the agreement announced by MCL Executive Director Scott Rhodes.
James Millis, of Clarksville, Tennessee, director of Legend Independent, took the lead role in the negotiation and concluded, “The personalized attention we received from Jim Bailey and the guys at Evans is second to none. Couple that with a variety of quality products, and you have a recipe for success.”
The percussion staff of the competitive drum corps also weighed in favorably on the new agreement.
MCL Percussion Caption Head Edward Freytag of La Vergne, Tennessee, a well-known percussion educator and performer, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. "As a drum set artist, I have always been partial to the rich depth that Evans drum heads produce on any gig whether it be live or studio. And I have always been very pleased that Evans heads work for me in every scenario... pop, country, rock, Latin or jazz. I couldn't be more pleased now that Music City Legend and I have the opportunity to use Evans heads in the marching percussion arena. The sound that Evans produces on the marching field is, in my opinion, second to none."
Scott McCoy of Frankfort, Kentucky, MCL Assistant Percussion Caption Head and 2006 DCA Snare Drum National Champion, added that he was, “very excited about the corps' partnership with Evans for our drum head needs. Evans has made incredible advances in their marching percussion product line leaving their competitors in the dust. All of Legend’s organizations can leverage that advantage to give our members the opportunity to play on the best equipment available. The personal attention we've already received from Evans is unequaled and I look forward to a relationship lasting many years."
For further information on Evans drum heads and a wide variety of percussion and other music products, please visit their website at http://www.evansdrumheads.com.
Music City Legend, now in its fifth year of existence, has distinguished itself as a “crowd pleaser” by developing an original, family-friendly musical and visual entertainment package each season. More information on the corps can be found online at http://www.musiccitylegend.org.
