I dunno.... I kinda like all those overrated Blue Devils shows, especially the ones that won championships when your corps did not.

Ohhh I see what you did there! Very clever.

I can't tell if that's a BD uniform or not but didn't one get stolen this year?
Yes, a BD uniform was stolen at Denver and returned in Hutchinson, KS during tour in 2009.
I guess it could be this past year....i wasnt aware that they brought out the old busses. That bus is used by BD volunteers. They have converted the inside with beds.
-
Is that a BD uniform they are carrying?
More than likely, yes.
-
Yup, I guess we can all pack up and go home now. God has spoken.
-
But seriously....the game is chess, not checkers.
-
I'll submit this design!

haha, it's 2am! Everything sorta blends together for me at this time.
Exactly...2am and I am on DCP..sigh.

2008....not 2009 sigh
Oops, my bad...reading too many threads about 09.

Will possibly hurt: Blue Devils (might become a bit stale),
What do you think?
Out of curiosity, why are only the Blue Devils susceptible to this while you think the other corps can benefit from the extra time?

Yep. It is all about the judges, afterall. Lucky them.
Not what I was saying at all, I think you misinterpreted my post. It isn't all about the judges...nor is it all about the audience. Finding a nice balance between the two works well. The guard solo dance was entertaining for the casual observer as well as an important part of the 1930 theme for whoever understood it (audience and judges alike).
-
Interesting.
How was the audience supposed to catch on to that any easier than the red violin story?
I don't think they were supposed to...since there wasn't a specific story that BD was trying to convey, it wasn't vital that the audience understood all the little nuances. As long as the judges got it...which, I guess they did.

How so?
What was the meaning of the lone male guard member "going crazy"?
The guard member is not "going crazy." He is performing the pre-Rhapsody in Blue scene out of the 1930 movie "The King of Jazz." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz5cteBcWx4

I heard BD had an average age of 27.3 this year.
-
I thought Phantom's mello line sounded like complete butt from 2003-2007, but maybe thats just me.
I am with you on this.
-
Or perhaps let's try, "Man, Phantom Regiment marched really well in '11 (eleven)!".
Whoa! In which year did Phantom march an entire show in 11/8 meter... or wait... did you mean that all the sets in their show were sets of 11? Hmmm...
Well luckily Phantom never marches really well, so we won't have to worry about this particular usage.
-
I have to admit that I didn’t do my homework on that one. Sorry.
Admittedly, it was an easy oversight
-
I feel the same way about last years Phantom Regiment show and my mind just can stop trying to figure out what 1930 had to do with the chairs in this years Blue Devils show.
Chairs were invented in 1930, duh.
-
Another odd statistical anomaly: until this year, the Blue Devils' highest ever Finals score was in a season the DIDN'T win the title! (98.525 in 2004, still the highest runner-up score in DCI history).
Blue Devils' highest score up until 2009 was a 98.8 from 2003, when they also won the title.

I guess that makes Southwind a GMC...
