  1. Hey dude, 1) voting doesn't begin until January 15th (each groups "Big Idea" announced on January 8th), 2) please don't "put your vote in facebook" (I think you mean vote for the Legion Aires through Chase Community Giving on facebook), 3) you can also vote for CC, Cavies, and Phantom, and 4) WHY ARE WE YELLING?!?

  2. Someone over in The Cavaliers forum posted that the hornline is 80-strong, with16 tubas. Here's part of the post:

"...The opening of the show is electrifying with the horn line (80 strong with 16 Contra Base) grouped diagonally from left corner to right corner..."

I saw cavies the other day, and they had 16 tubas and 16 mellos, as well. . .I didn't count the other sections.

  3. Fortunately everything was handled well and the worse was adverted. The food truck was being used to haul luggage during the move from Baraboo to East Troy. Our charters our not yet with us and we had rental school buses with no luggage capacity. The bags were temporarily set in a place that exposed them to high temperature from the cook top. No real damage to the food trailer.

Two bags were lost and those members got to make a trip with Dann to have the corps replace the items lost.

    all's well, that ends well. . .

  4. The show wasn't challenging enough to get 12th. They probably would have gone to 15th with a possibility of 14th.

Now if they improve the same between 2008 and 2009 as they did from 07 to 08...

wait, let me do the math. . .

    20th in '07

    16th in '08

    12th in '09

    8th in '10

    4th in '11

    1st in '12

ok, sweet. . .when do tickets go on sale for 2012?!?

  5. Here is a brief summary of the 2009 Troopers' competitive show, "Western Side Story." Director Fred Morris and his staff have projected this with 66 horns, nine snare drums, five bass drums, five tenor drums, 12 in the stationary percussion pit, two drum majors and 30-36 Color Guard members.

"We've crafted a contemporary Western-themed show with music from 'West Side Story.' The thing (DCI competition) has gotten so contemporary. You have to be theatrical, you have to dance. 'Hang 'em High' just doesn't cut it anymore," Morris said. "This definitely has a Western flair. We are not leaving our roots."

    1. "The Cave," with trumpet solo, "Maria," and baritone solo, "Somewhere."

    2. "Adelina de Maya," written by Joseph Curiale, who spends a lot of time in Wyoming's Wind River Mountains for his musical inspiration -- also composed a piece for the Troopers' 2007 "comeback" season -- with "America."

    3. "Spaghetti Western," percussion feature with horn accompaniment.

    4. "One Hand, One Heart," with John Dunbar theme from "Dances with Wolves."

    5. "Pentium," with "West Side Story" reprises.

Time: 10:30; 11 minutes maximum allowed.

    Encores:

    Battle Hymn Chorale, Ghost Riders.

  6. Facebook is a good place to find most of the all-days locations (especially if you have a lot of drum corps friends). . .I used it to find out when the Cavies were staying in my hometown (for 2 weeks!). Also try the corps websites, some corps post housing sites for mail and whatnot.
