  3. Based on what I heard at the MCA Invitational, the MCA is going to contribute QUITE A LOT to the Friday night show this year.. even more than in 2007.

Mass Brass was INCREDIBLE .... for ANYTIME....., not just considering it was only APRIL.

And the other MCA members in contest were not far behind!

Golden Eagles, Ghost Riders, T-Birds and Amoskeag Sound are better than ever this year. And we have a few more corps that'll be worth the trip to see, as well. There haven't been official announcements from everyone yet, but I expect most of our members will be competing at DCA.

If you don't normally attend the DCA I&E... IT'S TIME TO START.

  4. Having the mini corps Champion (whoever it is) perform on Sunday night is a GENIUS idea.

    :smile::glare::glare:

Great move by DCA to recognize this important and growing area of the Senior activity.

It will not only expose a load of fans to Mini-Corps for the first time; but will also show the audience that DCA is deeply involved in nurturing this hot movement.

And, I'm sure that it's much appreciated by the Mini-Corps community.

    THANK YOU!

  5. I'm putting together a broadcast list of Mini-Corps organizers, both those with active corps, and those still imagining their future projects.

A way to keep up to date on what's up in the biz, and to maybe share ideas, and even grab on to some opportunities to get your corps out there.

Also, maybe some free exposure for you, if we can get some regular articles on Mini- Corps activities and plans.

So, send me your e-mail, and some info on your corps!!!

    tommacd@nycap.rr.com

Hey..... This goes for Brass Ensembles and other Mini-Corps-like groups, too!

    Sorry.

There was a type-o in the e-mail address above - fixed now..... so send your info along.

  7. The corps' all made this a successful day. But let's not forget that someone had to get the ball rolling and lay all the groundwork over the last couple of years.

    Many thanks should go to.....

    The MCA Executive Committee:

    Rod Keppel

    John Moran

    Doug Mellenthine

    Gary Matczak

    Sue VanEssendelft

    Frank Ponzo

    And the MCA Charter Members:

    Ghost Riders

    Erie Thunderbirds

    Lambertville Volunteers

    Golden Eagles

    Mass Brass

Plus, all the other current members, who are carrying it on:

    Amoskeag Sound

    Capital Brass!

    CrossmenXtreme

    Minne Brass

    Reilly Raiders

    Steel City Ambassadors

    Windsor Regiment

  8. From all of us at the Reilly Raiders Brass ensemble, it was truly an honor to share the stage with all of the Mini corps and our hats are off to Mass Brass on a well deserved win.

it's off to Rochester and then to Albany!!

If anyone has Taped the show i would love to be able to get a copy of it for our Library( no i won't share it on U Tube)

    Reilly Raiders Brass Ensemble

It's great to have you on board MCA, Reilly!

Thanks for the fine job of opening the MCA Invitational, as our newest member.

Look forward to hosting you in Albany (more on THAT to come, soon)

  9. Gotta say that in all my years of being a DC fan, I have never gotten the opportunity to see a mini-corps, with the exception of Future Corps that used to do gigs at EPCOT. Thankfully, that all changed Saturday night. I heard Golden Eagles and Ghost Riders from out in the hall, and they sounded great. Wandered inside to take in Mass Brass from the room proper, and MAN what a show! I can't believe that I have not seen any of you guys before, but I can guarantee that I won't be missing any more opportunities to catch these gigs.

A HUGE well done for all of the groups... you have a new fan.

THAT'S what we were goin' for, OrlandoContraAlum! (They WERE all great, weren't they?) TOO bad you missed the rest of the corps'. Don't let that happen again!

On behalf of the all of the MCA corps' who participated this weekend, I think I can go out on a limb and say that THIS kind of thing makes it all worthwhile!

    THANK YOU!

  10. yes Tom, and most of us actually like and respect each other..........

I'd like to add a personal note:

Throughout the day I got to meet some of the leaders and icons of the activity, and to work with a few more I was already familiar with.

    :rock::juggle::dancin:

Just wanted to say what a thrill it was to speak with each of you, even for just a short time. Thanks for taking the time for a newbie, and for making me feel so welcome!

  11. WOW!!!...and...WOW!! The MCA Invitational was nothing short of spectacular IMO. I enjoyed this event just as much as a spectator as I did as a performer. Maybe moreso. Gone are the days of ...." Hey...let's have a few brewskies, play some good tunes and have a great time". The quality level of these corps' has taken, in my estimation, a GIANT leap forward. No....MCA is not about to replace DCA anytime soon and most likely never. But I'm here to tell you folks that there is a new seriousness to this activity among the participants. Along with that.....if you include the comeradery among the participants and their seeming ability to enjoy each others company even while in competition....well....you're looking at a very, very, marketable product. Just sayin.....

    told ya!

    MCA Rocks!

(I never get tired of bein' right)

  12. 1. 84.333 Mass Brass

    2. 84.167 Golden Eagles

    3. 82.500 Ghost Riders

    4. 80.500 Erie Thunderbirds

    5. 79.167 Amoskeag Sound

I think that this contest showed what MCA is all about:

5 EXCELLENT competitors, who each put on an exciting, unique and well-prepared show.

Plus, I found that each organization conducted itself in a spotlessly professional manner; making the show a pleasure and a breeze!

LOTS MORE TO COME from this bunch, later in the season!

  13. .... it was an honor to get the chance to emcee the proceedings. These mini-corps definitely have it going on.

Congrats to Mass Brass on their win..... they were terrific, both at the afternoon show and again at the night show on the Forum stage!

    Fran

    Fran,

And of course, from 5 Star Brass:

    Bill And Ruth Light

    Dan Rippon

    and Larry Hershman
