It's been a very long summer with my boyfriend marching, and I know it's been hard for him too. We try to talk to each other, send letters, text- pretty much anything in order to keep in touch.
We were seperated at different colleges all year as well, but I think the biggest thing for us is to communicate. Cheesy, I know, but it's true. We trust each other, try to be supportive, we're both committed to each other and our relationship... It's been tough but I feel like we've done well and I get to see him (finally) in 2 weeks at finals.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, in no other sport or activity (that I can think of) would a previous years performance have any effect on the next years. Everyone knows you were last years champion, reserve/2nd, etc. but it shouldn't effect the next year. It's mind baffling for me that this is common practice.

I show horses and the judges are required to show their cards at the end of the show including any notes they made about riders and horses.
Couldn't DCI do something like that and inconsistant notes could be used to determine if a judge is asked back?

I went to the Stillwater show last year as well as this year. The Scouts are light years ahead this year. Musically they are way better than last year. The horns sounded very good. I believe that they are still holding back a little on the volume as they are working on fine tuning. They have a lot of talent out on the field. They also have a lot of heart. The guys I spoke with just want to deliver a crowd pleasing show. They did that. The guys are very aware that they have things that need to be worked on. The visual show has a huge amount of potential as well. They do some really cool and difficult moves. The music is very nice and a lot of fun. The uniforms look good on the field and under the lights. The guard still does not have the rest of their uniforms but they did have colored flags last night. I understand that they had all white flags the night before. Also, the guard made a few mistakes. Again, they are young and lack some experience. I realize that the guard is smaller than some of the other corps but they did a good job of being noticed and making themselves appear bigger. Overall nice job!
All in all this is my take between the Scouts and some of the other corps. The Scouts have a great show to build on. The music, visuals etc. provide a huge opportunity for growth. The Scouts take the field and leave the field with a lot of class. I have to say better than any other group I saw. Some of the groups that preformed last night had very tight shows but lacked depth. The difference is that the Scout’s show offers a lot of depth potential. I would say more than most of the others I saw. I don’t expect the Scouts to be on top right now and neither do they. I am looking forward to seeing a few more shows and then seeing them at finals. I think the future scores will reflect the hard work and dedication that these young men offer. I only see them going up while some of the other groups will platau.

Went to an everyday last weekend and was really impressed with what I saw and heard. The show sound really good. While I am far from an expert I think things are really coming together for the Scouts. My impression is that the guys themselves like the show and that says a lot. I heard the music is fun and the visuals are good as well. They seem very pleased with where they are compared to last year. Again, I think that says more than anything. If they are having a good time and enjoying themselves they are learning more. The general impression from the people I spoke to is that things are going very well.
