2. After hours and hours of meetings the past few months, MN Madness is proud to announce the show for Season XIII:

A Tribute to one of Minnesota's greatest rock stars of all time: Prince

Prince was/is an icon in the rock and roll world with his music, especially his guitar playing skills. MN Madness is proud to represent the state of MN by doing his music but adding the MN Madness twist.

The musical selections are still up in the air but you will for sure here Purple Rain as the ballad. Nothing will sound better than having 80 horns playing one of his best musical pieces.

Right now, show looks likes this:

    Opener: Kiss/1999 mix

    Ballad: Purple Rain

    Closer: Lets Go Crazy

There will also be a drum solo and a small tune in there. We are thinking of either Little Red Corevette or When Doves Cry. What would you, the fans, want to hear/see on the field? We are still taking suggestions.

The design team is still intact from last season and the kids are excited to start playing this music and getting this on the field.

  3. MN Madness is in full summer mode but having to wait until XIII starts this winter. Music selections will be coming soon along with the theme. Many options are running through the minds of the Program Cooridnators/Caption Heads. This upcoming season is looking like it will be one of the better ones MN Madness has ever had. Good luck this season to everybody.

Also, MN Madness would like to host a show here at the new TCF Bank Stadium on the University of MN campus. Who do I talk to about this?

  4.
Contrary to what some others may say, a lot of my friends and I plan on winning in Scranton AND Rochester.
5. Greetings all drum corps fans. From the offices of MN Madness, we have finally decided on our summer show which will amaze audiences throughout the entire summer. This summer we are going to focus our music on one of the greatest composers to ever write music on paper: Ludwig von Beethoven. We as a corps are going to focus on 3 periods of his music: Early, Middle (heroic), Late.

The early, opener, will deal mainly with his 2nd symphonies. He took new directions with his music during this time so we here at MN Madness are going to do the same thing.

The ballad, middle (heroic), will be Moonlight Sonata. This powerful piece will bring tears to the crowds throughout the entire summer. The balance and blend of the low brass will have people's hearts melting wanting more in the closer.

The closer, late period, will be the 9th symphony. This intense piece of music will have crowds on their feets before the show even comes to a conclusion.

We hope you enjoy our production this summer.

We plan on marching 80 in the hornline again with a bigger emphasis on the low brass for the classic, dark music we will be playing:

    24 Trumpets

    10 Mellos

    30 Euphs

    16 Tubas

    Drumline (35):

    9 snares

    5 tenors

    5 basses

    4 cymbals

    12 front ensemble

    Color Guard: 33

    and 2 Drum Majors

The Music of Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphonies 4 & 5

This winter we wanted to go with a little darker themed show. This show will be some what like Phantom 96 but with a twist. I hope you enjoy this winters show and good luck to all the corps this upcoming "off season."

  9. I would like to know where on AOL this is as well! My corps did make finals so I want to be apart of this retreat!

My AIM screen name is DeCellR8 so I guess let me know or what not.

Again, thank you to everybody for such an amazing and congrats to Phantom. As people are saying, I could careless how my fantasy drum corps does because Phantom won. I am a huge Blue Devils fan but Phantom deserved it this year! What an amazing year for drum corps. Now time to focus on the DCA Championships here in a few weeks! :)

    AMAZING SEASON!!! :worthy:

  10. The 2008 Division III Silver Medalist Big Red & their Division I sister corps Thunder of Brass wish their fellow Minnesota brethren Minnesota Madness good luck in tonight's finals!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mike! I'm super stoaked to be in finals my first year. The corps has had a killer season and is very excited to be where they are. To all the corps this summer, thank you for an amazing summer. This has been a close race all season long. Good luck to the top 12 tonight. It is very close. I am within less than a point of first and the corps is ready to throw down. Last night at semi's, we came and we threw down. The crowd got into the show which helped the kids perform the heck out of this show. The percussion especially came and threw down some wicked clean beats and the judges rewarded them. It was all in due time before we were clean visually and the whole effect came off. The corps as a whole thinks this whole season is a success!

  11. Tonight is the big Memphis show that has been widely talked about as "The Show" to be at. MN Madness had a rehearsal day yesterday and is super excited about tonights show. Everything is going well with the corps and the show is coming along very nicely. Hopefully MN Madness can win this show and stop the streak of finishing 2nd or 3rd.

    Good luck to everybody tonight!!!

  12. Add Minnesota Madness to that as well. That seriously warms my heart to hear of that. Being a Christian in drum corps can be tough but what you are doing with your corps is just amazing! I hope the good Lord protects you and your corps for the rest of tour!

  13. Then with ALL due respect you are in the minority. Look at the scores (from day one) and you'll see how Glassmen and Blue

Stars are firmly within the top 12 without any doubt. As far as being lackluster how is it that the crowds have been getting more and more vocal in their support of each performance? They ARE a crowd favorite...period. Right now they are in a fight for 10th or 11th place at least. Who do YOU see pushing them out? We'll see what happens come Saturday at San Antonio.

He has a right to his own opinon as do you so do not get on him for it. He is just giving us an excellent review from the show from HIS perspective, not yours. Yes, Glassmen will make top 12 as they usually do. Oh well. Carry on with the rest of your day!

  14. After a bad showing at the regional in KC and the Phoenix show, MN Madness finally came back strong to finish in the top 3 at the New Mexico show!! We are getting cleaner visually and the hard work is paying off again. The hornline and percussion are on fire right now..just need to clean up visually. Can't wait for the next regional!!!
