All I have to say is this:
2007 16th place music effect
2008 14th place music effect
2009 16th place music effect
2010.........??????
The results are consistent. Perhaps an alternate task (copyist/score preparation/ teaching) might be better. I know this much.....if they don't bring in someone to write great arrangements, the corps will remain stagnant, and the current team isn't getting it done.
The bottom line.....it's unfair to the members to be given a slow vehicle year after year..........

I understand your point. Some kind of change musically is going to have to happen and quick. They can't keep going in the same direction.

Not laying blame at her feet. I just know when i listen to the midi's that Guidry produces, I hear very good stuff that seems to translate very well to a show on the field. Yet in the past several years there's a world of difference between the midis and the product on the field. (which is wierd because almost universally midi versions of shows are pale imitations of the real thing).
FWIW I actually think this year is a lot better in that respect.
I agree a 100%. I have both the midi and an MP3 of the show from last year. There are a lot of musical moments that get thrown out and I am not sure why?

Here is the issue. The Brass Arranger is Carol Chambers a.k.a. Corps Director's wife. She and Guidry work together quite a bit along with Wes Cartwright. I think it would be hard to fire your wife....
It will be virtually impossible to get rid of this other arranger (and I think this person is the only person who arranges Guidry's shows): http://www.crossmen.org/page114930.htmlis it worth asking if they don't want to go in a different direction because of the brass arranger? maybe.

Absolutely. Tons of reps for those kids and they'll be fine.
Off chance, would you know if this is the first time this season that the Cavies have won drums?
Yes I believe so. I looked in the Drum Score Thread and I couldn't find any other contest in which they won.

Could be a rough few days for that entire percussion section. Most assuredly, those snares are going to get a serious work out.
That is for sure. They have time, but like you said they are going to have to work pretty hard for it.
-
Naperville and then 4 days off. Timing couldn't be better.
True. They will get that snare line situation figured out. I am sure it sucks right now but it'll happen.

Congrats to Crown! Even with that drum score, they still came in 1st.

Well, so much for the recent posts on scores shakeups...looks like we have a new leader.
That is what I was thinking. Some how nobody has commented on that thread since July 1. I have to give a lot of credit to Carolina Crown. They are really clean this year. I can't wait to see how they stack up against the Blue Devils.

Now we can say the Bluecoats are for real. Love your style of playing and your visuals.

Good Improvement Crossmen!

That's a much better start for the Crossmen than this time last year. They weren't as loud as Spirit, but the sound was nice. This show has a lot of promise.
It would be nice to fill some of the holes in the hornline.
They did get a penalty for starting late due to electronics problems.
Thank you barigirl for the update. Are they still marching 4 basses?
-
I'll post updates from Twitter if you guys want.
JimBurnell Crossmen's speakers just shorted out for a sec... Waiting to fix em. Ah, electronics.
THANK YOU! It is pretty dead in here tonight.

I never knew Richard Saucedo was a DCI judge. Makes sense due to his years with the Cavies, but that's interesting (to me, anyway).
I didn't know as well... I guess this might be his first season judging.

Doesn't Phantom do dog tags as well?

Good Luck tonight Crossmen!

George must have see Crown last year and said:
"I think a button down shirt would look great in that color!"
HAHA!

Nice Job Crown!

THAT'S
WHAT
SHE
SAID
!

. . .nope.
Might get some slowdown towards the end of the night; but we're locked and loaded as far as being ready for the traffic this weekend, I think.
Nice. Thank you. Last year was not good.

I CANNOT
HIT REFRESH
FAST ENOUGH
!
I feel a crash coming on.

It would be nice if the crossmen could get out of the 80.00-80.5 range...they've been there for 4-5 shows now it seems like
I don't understand why they are "stuck" in that range. They had an 81.15 earlier this season and now they are going backwards.
TROOPERS! Where are you?

I usually don't post on here anymore but I just wanted to say a few words about the Troopers. I watched them rehearse for three hours, tonight, and they should be very proud of the product they are putting on the field. No matter what the scores say the Troopers organization is working extremely hard and the staff really love those kids. They pushed themselves in the Texas heat and rehearsed until they could not see anymore (No stadium lights). Congrats on a fine show and good luck on the rest of their tour.
