  1. My issue with George Hopkins is that he has changed too much. I understand much of the changes he has brought to the activity have been competitively beneficial, but they have also caused the standards of performance to go too high, and as a result has caused many organizations to be rendered uncompetitive. There are certain traditions such as G horns that I feel should have been left alone. My strongest concern with "Hoppy" is the implementation of electronics, narration, and synthesizers. I feel those instruments have destroyed the drum corps sound and driven the equipment costs so high that it has defeated the original purpose of the drum corps activity.

  2. Hello. I am looking for a set of used Shakos or otherwise useable Uniform hats.

We are planning to customize them, so they need not be in perfect condition.

Looking for a set of 60+.

Please contact me if you have a set you would be willing to sell for a reasonably low price.

  3. Um, did you read the testimonials page?

    Navin Johnson

    Graucho Marx

    Carl Marx

    Thomas Edison

    Will Rogers

    Sir Isaac Newton

Are you sure that this isn't a joke?

"I once played an ErgoSonic Bass Drum in my pajamas. How it got in my pajamas, I'll never know!"

    Graucho Marx

"Never again will the nobility of the working class marching bass drummer be subjected to the petty bourgeois oppression, degradation, dehumanization and exploitation of the conventional bass drum producing industrialist machine"

    Carl Marx

"To think I wasted my time on the electric light bulb"

    Thomas Edison

"I never met an ErgoSonic Bass Drum I didn't like"

    Will Rogers

"I can most certainly appreciate the gravity of this invention."

    Sir Isaac Newton

    .....Looks legit to me :-D

  4. We just purchased a set of Yamaha Power-Lite drums, and they will come with heads. We tend to make bass heads last a really long time, so I'd like to just stick with the stock ones, then replace them when they wear out.

Is there a "method" for applying foam to heads? Such as specific spots to apply and to not apply?

I've seen some basses with foam applied on the inside around the bottom half of the head, and ive seen some where foam is applied on the outside all the way around.

I need the most volume possible, and these are somewhat limited players...

It would seem that we will need upwards of 60 hats of some sort. Please email me at chcmb@hotmail.com if you would be willing to sell a used set of Shakos or Phantom Helmets, preferably with plumes.

    Thank you

  7. I like Dynasty tubas, the M875 is a good horn. I own one, and have corrected what I believe are a few "defects," the stock horn sat too far forward, like the K90, and also seemed to ply flat, so I had 2 inches removed from the leadpipe, solved both problems. Also had the thumb ring moved from the 1st valve to the leadpipe so its actually useful. Even without those changes, it was still the nicest combination of hold, power, and tone.

  8. I have 2 old sets of Ludwig quads I'm restoring, one of which is from the 1983 Freelancers. They are currently in pieces, and all I have is the drums themselves, no harness hardware. I'm looking for an aluminum rack/harness combo that I can bolt the drums to. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
