  1. Oh, I know...!!!

It's as if the design staff at Stoneman-Douglas has been reading my tiny mind.

When they walked out on to the floor to set their equipment they flashed their signature "game face" to the stands. You know, the face that says "We're Stoneman-Douglas - and we're in it to WIN IT."

So, I thought that maybe they were going to maintain that same "tough as nails" persona during their whole show.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Instead, they used a really nice variety of expressions though out the entire program

And I nearly choked on my Tic-Tacs as I watched the full ensemble SMILE ear-to-ear during their flag feature.

What an wonderful addition to their strong performance.

I think the subtle changes that we're seeing in this year's show might be an indicator of some larger changes yet to come with this perennial WGI Finalist.

You know what they say about the really good winter guard programs: the best ones always find ways to keep getting better.

Good luck with the remainder of the '09 season, Stoneman-Douglas...!!!

    :blink::laughing::smile:

They were smiling? Maybe I was too high up, but I didn't really focus on any one performer long enough to really notice facial expressions (in any shows)

  2. Rumor has it Flanagan was singing in their show? Um...?

And Last year was the only year Douglas has been huge. And they placed 14th. The Outcome, 2007, Placed 8th, With only 18 girls on the Floor.

Douglas currently has 15 members, so I'm sensing "less is more" for this guard.

As for Seminole and Freedom, I heard there were some moments that made people want to look away, true?

Well, Flanagan JV sang the words 'all you need is love' at the end of their show but that was it.

  3. But how much are they charging?? wasn't Replay free last year?

39 dollars will get you all regionals, archived videos, and championships prelims. for 59 dollars you add on world championshp webcasts. you can also pick one day webcasts of championships for 15, 25, and 19 dollars.

and no, replay was not free last year.

  4. Caught them at the show this past weekend at Hillsborough. Really entertaining show that would be great in IA and they should consider doing something about the amount of skin showing. It was actually distracting and inappropriate.

This thread is useless without pictures!

  5. Unforunately, I wasn't able to make it to this show...Anyone know what happened?

Well, some colorguards perfomed...some of them placed first, some of them placed second, and all of the others placed somewhere underneath that. Quite a few people jammed their fingers on equipment, while at least one was sick/injured and could not perform. At the end, some scores were announced, and the Star Spangled Banner was performed (probably badly.) All in all, it was a great night for colorguard in South Florida!

  6. Please don't think that just because this one poster is from Miami, ALL folks from down south are that obnoxious.

    - Univ of Miami Graduate, Former Alliance of Miami Member, and beach comber.

Sorry, I was sort of lashing out with the 'Miami' bit...I'm a resident of South Florida myself, and I know that are very nice people down here, and there are also very nasty ones too.

  7. Guar Guy Knows, (looks like you were in too much of a hurry to start bashing groups to notice that you didn't spell your username correctly), your entire post is filled with almost nothing but negativity, with not very much good to say about anyone. Joking about performers' weight/appearance? But then again, for somebody from Miami, FL, the obnoxiousness is not surprising. Learn how to articulate your opinions with some class, or please do not bother to write another review.

  8. I'm not very religious, but I'll give prayer a try!

Lord...if it is your will, please spare us from any more Imogen Heap (she has been beaten enough as it is), and let all athletic directors who abuse their rights to rehearsal facilities be struck down by your awesome fury!

  9. Taravella went to the inagural parade and they were focused on that December and Janruary. So they did not perform at premier but, there is some rule from 1902 (I assume) that said they had to be represented at premier. So... the captain showed up and got .2 per caption. Silly but they had to do it. Taravella from what I hear will be ready for the Fort. Lauderdale regional. I'm excited to see them.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up for me! For awhile I was wondering what kind of performance would merit a score of one!
