It's seems like alot of us who thought, perhaps the spread between BD's and Cadets, was abit ambitious are being lectured to as if we are not sophistocated enough
to see the intense artistic superiority of the Blue Devils over every other corps in existence. Many of us marched in WC corps and have been watching DCI for years since. It does get abit old that year after year, no one on the planet except some WGI judges and some BD homers are the only people who get the Blue Devils.
I remember Star of Indiana in their big years and even though it wasn't my taste, it was obvious to anyone with a pulse, that they were at another level. I just don't see it here with BD's with these spreads. I guess I have to go back for a 4th time and watch the FN video of them again. Its really like getting a root canal, sorry.
Whew, thanks ! It was getting hot in here! I totally agree! Its kind of like, If the Blue Devils do this then it has to be right because it was the BD! I am out of here! I can't wait till Atlanta! It should be a 6 point spread by then!

your starting to crack...oh, and you forgot in your opinion..you speak in absolutions and each time you post you lose more and more credibility........anyone that boo'd for any reason was/is wrong..its not a gauge of anything but ignorance...Im sure most that boo'd didnt even think about the show the next day or could care less either...if their was booing last night, who on here was there, doing it and will be proud to admit it.......DCI doesnt look like idiots......I agree with last nights results, you dont..we cancel each other out, therefore our opinons dont even matter, or exist..makes the response a little more even keel......

I do have much to be bitter about! I was part of that political crap and I quit. When your told what to score someone at before the show even starts its time to leave! That is the truth! It wasn't DCI for the record! Half of this activity is Political! These are kids and I guess I just have always fought for them. I don't say to much more because I would like to stay unknown to a point. Sorry if I offended anyone , but if you have ever taught or judged, you know this is what goes on. I am done ranting! Just made all of your afternoons interesting and not boring! HAHA! I sometimes love seeing your reactions! See how boring all your posts would have been if I didn't start this!

They do give credit for demand, and the Blue Devils have come out on top more times than ahyone, ever in the DCI era in Brass, percussion, visual, GE, and colorguard...oh and total show too !!
I dont think anything else needs to be said.....argue all you want to justify your desire for second best to get the top prize but when push comes to shove Devils do it louder, faster, more frequent and more consistent than any other corps in the history of DCI through all changes to the judging system..and believe me, politics have gone against them more then it has "for" them......

Your right! I don't think anyone including myself would boo a corp unless it was bluuuuuuu! But booing the judges score has a nice ring to it! It was a pretty loud boo too!

I think your rants are more idiotic than than the spread (though no where near as idiotic as anyone actually boo'ing at a drum corps show). I don't think drum corps fans are smart, in the same sense that just because Twilight made a ton of money last week doesn't mean it's any good (spoiler: it's horrible). Just because a large group of people voices their opinion in one way or another doesn't equal intelligence: it typically equals ignorance (kind of like when the hometown fans boo a called strike even thought it is CLEARLY a strike).
Well look at the istant replay. It's on the fan network! HAHA! You guys get fired up so easy! Sorry to question the almighty BD!

Again, not only do a lot of fans also like the show, but "personal taste" isn't a caption on the sheets. Effective and innovative visual & musical content and execution are and like BD or not you can't deny that their show has those requirements in spades. Anyone who thinks Cadets were cleaner than Blue Devils in Denver is either wrong, blind/deaf, or letting personal bias cloud their judgement. And for what it's worth, I think Cadets are WAY more entertaining, and I like their show more than any of their shows in a long time. But Cadets are pretty far apart from BD in show design/effectiveness (especially visually) as well as execution and wether you or others personally like the show or not is irrelevant to competitive evaluation.
Is it really that hard of a concept to grasp? The cleanest corps with the best show design wins, regardless of audience appeal.
I understand that! Makes perfect sence.....the spead still was way to big! BD picked up 3.5 points from their last show.....Everyone else has been a tenth here or there the past week(s). Besides I like getting all you guys fired up! LOL

Seriously, entertainment really isn't part of GE. It just matters if they played better and marched cleaner. And they did.
Sorry if you didn't see that, but anyone who saw them live last year with two functional ears and eyes saw it clearly.
And the people who booed were wrong. They were classless idiots.
So you are telling me that when all you "idiots" were trashing The Cadets a few years back (naration)booing at shows! (A Lot of BD Fans on here! ) Your saying you're idots too and classless for booing them! Right? That's how I took it! Last year I think they (BD) should have won! I might even agree that they should have won last night, but the score makes DCI look like idiots! They hold everyones score back the past week and wham...BD move up almost 4 points from the last show. Incredible! Drum Corps fans are smart! They booed for a reason! It was at DCI , not the kids! That is the difference....Classless would be booing any corps at the end of thier show.....

This is not true of everyone.
I don't like BD's show because I don't like BD's show. Not because I somehow dislike BD (I don't dislike BD, for the record. Not one bit). This show, performed by any other corps, would elicit the same reaction from me regardless.
Perhaps I'm special in my ability to separate the product from the performing ensemble...but I doubt it.
If it was someone else doing that show at the same intensity, they would have NEVER scored an 88 last night! POLITICAL!!! WGI, DCI HS marching bands....all the same Politics!!!!!!!!

Their shows don't have to be the most enjoyable to win or be the best in this activity.
BD plays to the sheets very very well. Again, there is nothing to understand.

Cadets were not even in the same ballpark as Blue Devils when it comes to design sophistication and execution. If I made a drinking game last night with Cadets recycling visual ideas I would've been passed out long before they marched off the field. Blue Devils looked like they were in late season cleanliness (though they still had MUCH dirt, just no where near as much as others) while Cadets looked like early July.
It's obviously a long season and a TON can (and will) happen before it's all over. But if you think that a)BD has no demand and/or b) BD beat Cadets because of Politics, then you truly have no clue what you're talking about.
Unless you meant to say, "I REALLY don't like Blue Devils and I wish that Cadets, whom I like significantly better, would have won." The biggest problem with drum corps fans is that they often can't separate "personally like" with "competitive result." Often too many people think that just because they personally like a show more than another automatically means the judges missed something and got the results "wrong."
Again a whole stadium of people booooooing! A lot of fans felt this way uh?

Are you freaking kidding me or what? BD demand level is very high this year. Cadets show is too. IF I had to give the nod to complexity it would still go to BD.
Bd is going to win with this show and win big. Cadets have the best chance at going after them from a design standpoint but they are going to have to clean top to bottom.
Explain the boo's? I'm not the only one who feels this way!

First off, I don't like the Blue Devils. My favorite corps are Scouts, Cavaliers, and, to a lesser extent, SCV and Phantom.
But I understand why the Blue Devils win. A lot of people seem to have trouble with this, so allow me to share my thoughts.
Blue Devils don't win because they have a better show. If you are wondering what it is the judges see that you don't see, you can stop wondering. There aren't any subtleties in their show that you are missing. The judges see exactly what you see.
What you are missing is the fact that the show is not "the show". The details of the music and drill are largely irrelevant. They could do 8x8's and play Come to Jesus in whole notes. It wouldn't matter. The real show is the performers themselves. It's not what they do, but the way they do it.
Every year, BD picks the most talented and attractive performers in drum corps. They train these performers in a system that emphasizes one thing - performance. Not education. Not self-discovery. Not camaraderie. Just performance.
So what happens when these performers hit the field? Surprise! They perform. They show off their talent and ability with confidence, with aggressiveness, with attitude, with style and with swagger. They exude esprit de corps. They love to show off and it shows.
You might not like what they are doing, but I dare anyone to say that they don't appreciate and enjoy the sheer professionalism and physical grace that is on display whenever they are on the field. The way they move and play generates its own effect. Bottom line: they are just fun to watch.
Drum corps is pageantry. Pageantry is a form of display behavior. Fundamentally, it is no different than a peacock showing off its tail, a moose showing its antlers, or a songbird singing to attract a mate. It's not subtle and sophisticated, but basic, primal and instinctive. It's all about "strutting your stuff." The Blue Devils strut their stuff better than anyone else. That's why they win. It's that simple. It's not rocket science, just simple biology.

btw, I hope my Scout and Cavalier brethren don't see me as a traitor for posting this. It's just the way I see things. I still hate Devils

Hey Congrads to your win! Seriously they are both great corps. Its a long season to go and anything can happen but that spread was wrong and everyone knows it! They had a right to boo and I think any reasonable person would know that they were not booing the BD but the score... The funny part is The Cadets must have really wowed the croud because they are far from their hometown. It is the Politics of the judging that always is the factor. Unfortunatly it will never change. WGI this year had the same problems. There were guards that were strong all year and should have been in the top 15 that at finals they were not even in the top 24! DCI's money comes from us the fans...maybe eveyone should make a phone call to them to let them know how dissapointed you are of the scoring. If enough people call, then maybe they will pay attention to what their fan base thinks!
Its Politics and there is nothing anyone can do about it! The BD won the show last year but something that hasn't happened in a long time! The Cadets are winning back the the respect and hearts of the fans! They got to feel good about that! Its funny you don't see any posts bashing them this year about thier show.....I think this is a first!

If I'm not mistaken (and I apologize in advance if I am), I believe the last time the Cadets beat the Blue Devils was August 5, 2007.
Anybody know how many shows that is in a row? like 20 or 30 head-to-heads over that time frame?
Something tells me, that the Blue Devils will prevail tonight. Especially considering that they have their strongest show in three years
(in MY opinion).
If Holy Name can pull it off, then more power to them. But I think not.

No that doesn't make no sence becuase the Cadets were in Colorado! I think the people who boo'd are safe to say that they were not on the Cadet team! Maybe they just liked The Cadets show more than the Judges did! The fact that they were so far away from home and people recated like that should really tell you something! Those people have a right to boo. they paid for that right and DCI blew it in their opinion.
One other thing.....if The Cadets would have won with that spead last night, would they have booed? Paying fans didn't like the call so they booed! If the booed the kids or the corps I agree classless. To let the judges know they blew it! Bring it on!
