  1. More interestingly how would cadets or BD or other top 6 fared with crown's show?

I would think that only Phantom could come close to the "darkness" of the sound that Crown produces. That being said, the Crown sound is SO ENJOYABLY unique ... it would not do it justice to be heard by another brass line .... at least in my opinion.

  2. when the gentleman in Kilties dropped over dead of a heart attack on the field at DCA prelims in 2005...and watching them do CPR on him right there on the field

Ugh .... I was there when the Kilties guy passed. We were the next corps on the field, behind those curtains waiting to perform. I was in shock of the actual event, and even more shocked when they went on with the show. I remember wishing they just took everyone into Finals, and called the show then .....

  3. I was there in '09, but I never got a look at how big the crowd was from our seats. I did see one pic that looked like the crowd was a good-sized crowd ..... seemed to be pretty full with a few scattered seats being empty. I remember thinking I was glad that it was a big crowd.

1982 in Montreal was the largest crowd ..... and this is based on hearsay. I had heard 46,000 for that year, but numbers can certainly get skewed. HORRIBLE stadium to play in ......

  4. he didn't leave DCi because he was mad at it or wanted more money. the deal was already in the works before finals.

    Jeff,

Can you elaborate? I was touring with a group that summer, along with a staff person who marched Star, and I don't remember hearing anything about the possibility of that occurring. I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but I'm just curious ......

Now, are you saying that the G7 is "mad" at DCI? Does anyone know WHEN they started planning this exodus?

  5. He doesn't need to explain anything. Not to you or anyone else. The guy has had phenomenal success and brought his team back to drum corps to help out his former corps. It's just that simple.

Didn't say he "needed" to explain. I'm just curious as to what he has to say about the situation.

  6. Based off that picture it doesn't look like many are at the show. May of been an early picture though.

Yeah .... one of the reasons I decided to stay at home instead of making the trek to Indy, was because I couldn't find a good seat from Ticketmaster. It looks like there are PLENTY of good seats!! Kinda bummed ..... Oh well .... live and learn.

  7. 'What's at stake in the Atlanta show?' Housing? http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=b...80-1170e112937a

A place to rest is a good thing.

Yep .... Devils just got bumped out of their housing yesterday. A friend called me and asked what it's like to host a corps these days. Back in the day, the corps wasn't as concerned with treating the facility with a great deal of respect. But since I've hosted corps the past few years, I've been quite impressed with their clean-up process, and their overall attitude at a rehearsal facility. I believe the corps know now that without housing, we don't have much of an activity!!
