Mutrumpet9 Eddie Short
Reading the live web blog for DCI ticks me off. That Mike guy is OBVIOUSLY biased towards the Blue Devils. #DCI
Really? How so? Read back and see how complimentary he has been for everyone else ....

Gotta love the sound of BD brass!
-
The on-line coverge of the scores showed people exiting after the Cavies scored was announced.
.....and you can't use a Starbuck's gift card in some Barnes and Nobles .....
-
Nobody does an "encore" like the Blue Devils!!!!
-
Thank you Jeff and Thank you Sue!!
-
Our brother's name was Joel "Lothar" Magnuson.
Lothar, blessings to all those that you touched .....
I was also amazed at the Kilties coming back later that night, and performing their entire show. I can't imagine the feelings that were running through the corps during those moments .....
-
More interestingly how would cadets or BD or other top 6 fared with crown's show?
I would think that only Phantom could come close to the "darkness" of the sound that Crown produces. That being said, the Crown sound is SO ENJOYABLY unique ... it would not do it justice to be heard by another brass line .... at least in my opinion.

when the gentleman in Kilties dropped over dead of a heart attack on the field at DCA prelims in 2005...and watching them do CPR on him right there on the field
Ugh .... I was there when the Kilties guy passed. We were the next corps on the field, behind those curtains waiting to perform. I was in shock of the actual event, and even more shocked when they went on with the show. I remember wishing they just took everyone into Finals, and called the show then .....

I was there in '09, but I never got a look at how big the crowd was from our seats. I did see one pic that looked like the crowd was a good-sized crowd ..... seemed to be pretty full with a few scattered seats being empty. I remember thinking I was glad that it was a big crowd.
1982 in Montreal was the largest crowd ..... and this is based on hearsay. I had heard 46,000 for that year, but numbers can certainly get skewed. HORRIBLE stadium to play in ......

he didn't leave DCi because he was mad at it or wanted more money. the deal was already in the works before finals.
Jeff,
Can you elaborate? I was touring with a group that summer, along with a staff person who marched Star, and I don't remember hearing anything about the possibility of that occurring. I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but I'm just curious ......
Now, are you saying that the G7 is "mad" at DCI? Does anyone know WHEN they started planning this exodus?
-
He doesn't need to explain anything. Not to you or anyone else. The guy has had phenomenal success and brought his team back to drum corps to help out his former corps. It's just that simple.
Didn't say he "needed" to explain. I'm just curious as to what he has to say about the situation.
-
Isn't it ironic that his group "left" DCI to do it's own thing, and now he's taking "sides" with DCI? Has he explained that anywhere? I would love to read it if he has!!

scores are up on dci almost as quickly as on here/twitter
so, bk 88.4
Got it ... thanks!

I think I missed the score for Blue Knights ..... does anyone know their score this evening?
-
MMmmm ... this band has some TALL tubas (from said bad band judge)

SCV - 91.9
Regiment - 92.35

I figured I had waited a little too late for good seats at Finals. Last year, I got 4 tix up CLOSE and loved it. Tried to do the same this year (through Ticketmaster) but couldn't find ANYTHING in the $125 seats. Definitely learned my lesson ...... Thanks for the advice.....I will talk to a person next time!!
-
Based off that picture it doesn't look like many are at the show. May of been an early picture though.
Yeah .... one of the reasons I decided to stay at home instead of making the trek to Indy, was because I couldn't find a good seat from Ticketmaster. It looks like there are PLENTY of good seats!! Kinda bummed ..... Oh well .... live and learn.

They end up going bankrupt after Fridays stellar performance because they owe $1.7 Million to the Windex company.
THIS!!!

Someone sneaks into their trucks and places stickers on their mirrors that say:
Objects in mirror are closer than they appear
-
They have 91 rookies this year.
Well, their performance level is nothing less than stunning with so many rookies! My hats off to the staff AND the members on this truly impressive season. Thanks for the info!!
-
A bit of a tangent, but on the subject of Cadets .... I had a friend tell me that the Cadets were VERY young this year. They even mentioned only having about 20 vets in the entire corps. I would think that this was false information. Does anyone know?

In the case of Blue Devils and Bluecoats occupying spots 1 and 2, the mixture of blooing and booing is going to happen. It doesn't matter WHO is 1st or 2nd .......

'What's at stake in the Atlanta show?' Housing? http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=b...80-1170e112937a
A place to rest is a good thing.
Yep .... Devils just got bumped out of their housing yesterday. A friend called me and asked what it's like to host a corps these days. Back in the day, the corps wasn't as concerned with treating the facility with a great deal of respect. But since I've hosted corps the past few years, I've been quite impressed with their clean-up process, and their overall attitude at a rehearsal facility. I believe the corps know now that without housing, we don't have much of an activity!!
