  4. Over the last 3 months I've started playing trumpet (switching from Baritone)in my corps. However im having real embrouchure issues ie. playing on the red part of my top lip.

I wondered if anyone could lead me in the right direction to get a proper set up. I do practice a lot, and was finding before that my chops would get tired easily. I have been moving the mouthpiece around to try get a good spot, but i often find after playing, it often moves further up.

Any help would be very much appreciated,

    Will.

  6. Hi Will.

I recommend a book called "Xtreme Power and Endurance" which is based on bugle calls (British, French, Mexican and American). I compiled this a couple of years ago as a series of 20 etudes and variations that comprise just about everything one can do on a natural horn.

    It's available from Wayne Downey's company, www.xtremebrass.com

Thanks Frank, I'll be sure to check this out.

  7. Hi there,

May be taking some horn exercises with a Bb brass line, but with no valves. They're working on getting some valved instruments, but obviously its a big transition for some of the kids, so they will probably introduce them slowly.

I just wondered how you got around this in the 'old days', and whats the best way to get the most out of the hornline, as I think I'll be pretty restricted at the moment.

    Will.

  8. I have come across a lot of DEG instruments in my time, but have never seen a piccolo sop. I would imagine they are quite rare, which will push up the price. My guess would be $150ish? Maybe someone else knows better. I would normally sell a big sop at about $100-$200ish depending on quality.

  9. I just bought myself a 25yr old DEG soprano for next to nothing to have a bit of a practice on and have a bit of fun with.

I wondered if there was anyone out there that has some interesting music I could use (prefferably solo), or know anywhere i can get hold of some?

Any help would be much appreciated as ever.

    Will.

  10. Sorry if this has been mentioned before.

I was wondering if someone could help me, im looking to buy a mouthpiece, and im not sure what im looking for. What is the difference between say a 3c and a 7c? And what difference will it have on my playing?
