"I wish drum corps was the way it was in 68" debates we see on this forum all the time. Maybe not. Just a thought.
A very wise man once told me that most drum corps people do NOT accept improvements in drum corps past the day they aged out. This adage is proven time and time again in here.
It's a shame since it alienates those folks who perform in the present in either DCI or DCA all age, leaving them asking "if it ain't drum corps, what am I doing?" The really unfortunate part is age-outs then don't age out - they retire.

Buy a hot dog when the corps coming on the field does not cater to your understanding of what drum corps is suppose to be.
Yeah, that's the ticket...go buy a hot dog.
Hopefully you're open-minded there - maybe some ketchup and onions this time instead of mustard? Expand the old taste palette one way or the other.
-
The Bushwackers do not use Dynasty drums.
-
Non- of us are where we want to be, that is what the season is for. The show we saw in Wildwood in not the same show we will see in Rochester at the end of August.
To be able to put your corps out in front of an audience so early in the season will pay dividends when you hit the field at the Barnum, Clifton and DCA. With such a turnover in all of the corps, I can tell you it was not only the Caballeros that I saw the deer in the head lights look in the eyes from the new members. Next time out they will all be more at ease and their performances will became second nature to them.
Wise words, Al. Out a week earlier gets a corps "there" a week sooner. Rehearsal is one thing - in front of an audience and judges is something completely different!!
Sorry I missed everyone this past Saturday. I had trouble making life and drum corps co-exist and life was more important.
-
Jerome, that's your responsibility. You can also teach the new folks what it's all about.
-
Keep looking, Jerome...keep looking.
-
The judge stunk no worst than your chili!!
And the reports are true, my friends. The 27th anniversary (our super special anniversary) edition of the Bushwackers will entertain!
-
I am looking forward to free hamburgers!!
Oh, and great drum corps...
-
Ahhhhh....free shoes!
-
Said in another thread...and much better, I might add.

The Bushwackers - the members, administration, staff, and alumni - would like to extend a very special "thank you" to the Raiders. Lending us a full-loaded equipment truck is generous enough, but dropping it off because we had no way to transport anything is absolutely incredible!!
It's been easy lately to reflect on negatives - having your equipment trailer stolen from your rehearsal site does that. Corps like the Raiders have really gone a long way to prove all the "good" that's in the world.
Guys, thank you so much!! You helped us have a great rehearsal weekend
-
And, a word to the wise: when geese hiss, go the OTHER way!!
I will be asking the Brotherhood for Attack Geese, Local 27 for new attack geese...the current crew was asleep at the switch when the trailer thieves stopped by.

That special time of year when young people's (and old people, too!) hearts turn to - LEARNING DRILL!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Gypsodic! to start moving. Steve Rinda has promised some top shelf chart and the membership is ready to learn.
So, despite a cancellation for bad weather that turned out to be nice two weekends ago and the despicable intervention of a felon or felons: Bush is rehearsing this coming weekend.
WELCOME TO SPRING!!!!

The Bushwackers feel your pain, Cru!! Smile and believe, folks: you may be stunned at how something like this pulls people together and shows you friends you've never seen.
-
Al, thanks so much!!
While it's an experience we would've preferred to avoid, it has been absolutely amazing to see the strength within the corps while witnessing the true brotherhood within the marching music fraternity.
Drum corps from all circuits have offered help. Marching bands have offered assistance. Our competitors have offered help.
With deep appreciation to all: THANK YOU!!
-
Try a Open Class corps where YOU will be with KIDS your own age and you won't have to march with people as old as your parents!
It's all good...all good. Uninformed is OK so long as you go out and do some investigating. DCA is NOT what you think it is - and hasn't been for years now.
Come check out a rehearsal or, better yet, a show.
I think you'll be VERY surprised.
Anyway, good luck to you this summer WHEREVER you happen to be!!
-
Something about it being America, I would assume.
"We"?
-
Ahhhhh....humor.
Thanks, Dave!

Whats that saying God works in Mysterious ways. There's a reason for everything.
AMEN, BRUTHA!!
I am firmly convinced the Bushwackers will not only come through this crisis with flying colors, it will also make the corps tighter and stronger.
Thanks to ALL who are hanging in there with us, providing all types of support. There is BIG support from Surf and others, but other levels of support that is equally appreciated.
Members, supporters, alumni, family, and friends - we have rehearsal on April 26th and 27th.
Just like always!!
-
I haven't been seeing as many posts by the usual Bushwackers on DCP of late. Could be I'm not paying attention, or just that you guys are all finding DCP less interesting lately.
Not that you guys stir up a lot of baseless hype - just that I feel like there's less presence here from the corps lately. My impression only. No biggie.
Many of our DCPers have proudly become alumni, Dale. Our current cast of characters hang out on our forums much more than they do in here.
Gypsodic! will delight members and fans alike this summer...maybe even a couple or three non-fans.

Bush usually makes more noise online than they have this season, so that leaves me wondering about them.
Really? We're usually pretty quiet, but perception is reality.
No need to wonder - Year 27 will be memorable.
-
Hittin' the ATM so I can buy my $2.50 can of Diet Coke!!
-
Have you heard the brass and percussion?!
-
once winter guard season is over.
Good luck with the rest of the season, but HURRY UP!!!!!

A Bush alum, Josh Cohen, recently re-located to Houston. I know he's been going through drum corps withdrawal, so this might just be his fix!!
Post a review, Josh.
