You nailed it! Thanks!

And if what you are stating is correct this means that, (if each corp performed equally well in all ways), BD The re:Rite of Spring should always score higher in GE over SCV Les Miserables because the depth of complexity within the intellectual aspects of the BD show are rewarded greater than the Broadway show entertainment communication aspects of the SCV show. That, if true, is a real major problem within DCI and why more and more people are getting disinterested in these esoteric show designs.
No more callers please... We have a winner!

a lot of negative tweeters tonight...
As much as I love the Cadets, their show this year is stupid! #marchingbandproblems #DCI

Some of us happen to think tha Cadets show is the most engaging show on the field this year! To each his own!

For some people it is always easier to blame the judges or the time slot for their favorite corps poor placement than it is the guard or drumline.
AMEN!

Anyone for a little home (state) cookin'?

Go Cadets! Close that gap!

Sheets won't show it, but Spirit is selling a better product than Madison right now!

This is basically week two of a long season to come. Just sit back, relax.and let it happen. This is going to be a great drum corps year!

Let me preface this by saying... I'm ok with Finals staying in Indy forever.
But let's look at some proposals:
1. Why not take the NCAA Final Four approach to Indy?
Indy is the home of the NCAA and they rotate the Final Four back to Indy every 5 years. This will maintain the goodwill with the Indianapolis Tourism folks if DCI implemented a plan such as this.
Rotate finals by region Year 1: East Year 2: West Year 3: Midwest Year 4: South Year 5: Indy
2. Keep Finals in Indy, but every 3rd or 4th year do a one-off in a different region (i'm thinking west coast here primarily) The new 49ers stadium in Santa Clara will be built soon and a potential new stadium in Southern California is on the way if the NFL ever gets the Jaguars to move :)
3.
Sounds like a good plan!

I'll give you all of that except for the bolded statement. I have found no instances after watching both of these shows ad naseum where this is possible. If anything, I would say CC's drill is too difficult.
Maybe I'm just seeing the Cadets drill as a better compliment to their musical presentation. As usual, they seem to be always moving a mile a minute!
-
After all the "bells and whistles" in the Cavaliers '11 show, this years program seems like a bit of a come-down. Nice, but more reserved. Anybody else see it that way?
-
The Cadets know how to close the gap. They have the slightly better show and I'm afraid a lot of Crown Fan boys will be pouting come August.
I agree. Cadets marched after Crown, and the crowd was much more responsive to the Cadets. Their drill seems more challenging and musically they are so appealing!

It's time for finals to come south again! How about Atlanta or Nashville?

Away from the Madison show site, Bluecoats 3 point margin over Scouts should stretch out to closer to 5.

27th Lancers of 1980, in my opinion, had a better rifle line than did the Madison Scouts of 1980. If you stop action with the pause button on Fan Network video of 1980 Madison's rifle line in the beginning of the show when the line comes out front for the first time in the show, as well as do the same thing with 27th rifle line, we can easily see the uniformity of equipment work between the marchers in 27th and between marchers in Madison. 27th's is better than Madison's rifle line. The 27th Lancers won Guard that year at DCI. This was an iconic Guard. They deserve their legacy as one of the best Guards in the history of DCI regarding equipment work. Madison '80 had a good Guard with a good rifle line too. I'm not taking anything away from how good thet were. But the 27th Lancers Guard was in a league by itself during that timeframe, imo. We can see the 27th Lancers greatness in their 1980 closer... " Danny Boy ".... where the rifle line comes thru the line spinning the rifles at top speeds, but in terrific uniformity, and then all the way to the end with 27th's lines signature ending that can only be seen to be fully appreciated. ( hint : spinning the rifles while moving backwards all the way to their backs on the ground, and spinning the rifles still while there on their backs, and all the spinning in perfect unison still. ) Just watch 1980's 27th Guard at Finals again on Fan Network from start to finish. Its all there. Once you see their Guard, or refresh your memory of them, it should be compelling that they had a phenomenal Guard and rifle line, imo.
End of discussion! Perfectly said. Thanks!
