  1. Brass and drums could be heard throughout Raleigh this weekend as Platinum is wrapping up another successful camp, with %75 Percent of the show on the field!

However, we could still use mellophones or front ensemble members (or anyone who has sat out and doesn't have somewhere to march), so if you think that there's no a chance to march this summer, or want to and think you don't have enough money, you are wrong! Email us if you have any questions. We want to provide you with an amazing opportunity, so don't miss out!

  2. Raleigh, NC (May 9th, 2010):

Platinum Drum and Bugle Corps is thrilled to announce its DCI debut for the 2010 season in Open Class competition. This comes after much awaited news from our DCI evaluation that took place in April. Things were looking good for Platinum as we just got the word in from DCI that we have been accepted! The drum and bugle corps will participate in DCI events throughout the summer, and will feature a full horn line, percussion section, and colorguard. A more tentative tour schedule is now being completed and will be up soon so that all of our fans (or soon to be fans ;)) can come see what we are all about this summer.

With evaluation completed, staff and members continue to chart ahead, memorizing the the rest of the show and continuing to put drill on the field. Platinum's next camp will be held on May 28-30, 2010.

For possible members who were still interested in possibly marching with Platinum, time has not run out for you yet! During the month of May, Platinum is still accepting membership applications from qualified musicians, especially those who have any experience in Mellophone. Simply email us at Platinum.indoor@gmail.com for more information. Then bring a completed packet to any of our scheduled rehearsals, and we will show you what Platinum can offer you. (See Website for details)

We here at Platinum recognize that the challenges to march in a competitive drum corps are difficult, and we know you are just as concerned about your wallet as you are about the quality of your Drum Corps experience. That is why we have put together a top-quality program at the lowest possible prices.

Be on the lookout for any further announcements, such as the revealing of our show concept for the 2010 season.

  3. Platinum is currently hosting its 4th camp of the year in Raleigh, NC.

If you haven't found somewhere to march and are still looking/interested, we ask that you come give us a try!

Our brass and percussion are hard at work, playing through show music for the upcoming season, (pending DCI approval).

So if you haven't made up your mind yet, we're here until 5:00 pm on Sunday, at:

    Raleigh Girls Club

701 N. Raleigh Blvd. Raleigh, NC

  4. OK...I'll put mine out...

1 BDB- hands down another great summer ahead of them with more great members to put them on top for the second time

    2. Revolution- Hopefully they can get membership and work out some issues with the brass/visual aspect and run for BDB

    3. Forte- when you recruit from hotbeds, you'd better be up there

    4. Raiders/Oregon Crusaders- another tough battle through the season with hopefully more exciting shows and a tad more talent

    5. See Above

    6. VK- more and more like Old School VK so they will gain more talent and put out another crowd pleaser

    7. Legends- growing more and more every year....

    8. Music City- gains from the area of people around them and maybe some Cap Reg members looking for somewhere to go

    9. 7th Reg- they'll get up there, how far depends on members and staff

    10. Dutch Boy- Create another show other than confusion and work out some key areas like brass and visual

    11. Racine Scouts- Getting better every year and hopefully make it in

    12. Platinum- with all the talent they should be getting from NC and Southeast VA, they should make finals first year out

    We appreciate your list.

I'd love to see us in finals, so for you of age people who aren't marching, would you rather be possibly sitting last place in finals, or sitting on the couch in august?

  5. Platinum came through again with another successful camp this weekend. We brought in several new members, and continued to forge ahead with our visual and music program.

Also for those of you who are curious, we are still awaiting our evaluation from DCI so exciting things are in our future!

  7. A new Open Class corps in the Southeast...that is great, something really needed after Court of Honor of Atlanta folded several years ago and Memphis Sound relocating to Texas this year. Teal Sound was about to get lonely!

What other recruiting efforts are you pursuing? There is a lot of talent out there in the SE for the Open Class, you need to find a way to reach out to them.

We've been currently doing mass amounts of recruiting in the NC, SC and Virgina area, and it is pulling in some numbers so we will continue to forge ahead!

  8. OK.

    1. What website?

    2. Which 2010 season - spring or summer? Your Facebook page talks about an indoor ensemble. Meanwhile, the term "open-class" suggests DCI, but without actually saying "DCI" at any point.

Ah yes, Platinum began as a humble indoor brass ensemble. (some of these type ensembles are more popular up north) But we are beginning to expand our base into the Drum Corps circuit, more specifically Open Class as stated early.

Thanks for the questions, and glad I could clear them up for you!

  9. Welcome another new young corps to the Open Class activity, Platinum Drum and Bugle Corps.

Based out of Cary, North Carolina Platinum hopes to offer those a new venue for performance.

Platinum is now accepting applications for 2010 membership. Check out the registration section and fill out Membership Application, and for all those interested, please go check out our website and message on here (or email on the website)

Feel free to ask any questions! and spread the word!
