Btw I'm kind of a newbie to drum corps, is it okay if I just drive to one of these housing sites (specifically, Regiment), walk over to the stands, grab a seat and watch them rehearse?

I've always wondered about this. When watching a drum corps show, where are the best seats to sit in a venue, usually? Where are the best spots, visually and acoustically? Also consider high school vs. college vs. professional stadiums.

I looked at the dci.org and all three corps are doing the same thing in south Virginia the next day (June 19th). Well I dunno if it's the same exact thing but they're all playing in Virginia. Must be interesting, three top corps spending two days around each other and playing their shows 4 times, if that's how it's gonna be.

[Cadets New Logo]

Reminds me of what Pepsi did, they traded a traditional logo for some boring one in order to make it more "cool" and marketable. Sure, the new Cadets logo looks pretty good but it will be boring after a while.

[Fastest drum corps show?]

What has been the fastest that a corps has marched at anytime in their show? After seeing the Cadets go 212 bpm in 2007 (on youtube), I was wondering what other corps have been able to top that.

A bit incomparable, but there's a new drum corps in my area, Freedom Drum Corps, saw them at a show this summer. 6 guard, 7 brass, 1 snare drummer.

Bari saxophonist, thinking about the baritone transition for 2011 as well.

Quick questions:

Basically, do I just need to know how to play the instrument and march before auditioning? No scales or anything?

Are the fingerings the same for baritone/euph/mellophone?

Do corps use TC or BC for baritone? I read that they do both, but I was looking at Teal Sound's baritone audition piece and it's in BC.

Closest WC corps to me are Cadets, Crown, and Surf. How many baritones and mellos are usually in corps like these? Just wondering about my actual chances of making a corps after learning a completely new instrument.
