I do think that things are looking good for Spirit, but I just hope that a few other corps come up to make things more exciting.
Ideally, I would like to see things very close for finals, very close to enter the top 8, and again, very close for the last couple spots into finals. The more competitive it is, the better the shows will be!!

2002 Cavies was the first marching music show I've ever seen. It's because of that show I joined the high school marching band, and eventually, marched drum corps myself. It will always be one of my favorites of all time.

I very much hope that they all score within a point from each other tonight. That would make for some very exciting drum corps.

Blue Knights doing encore. Weather is still perfect!! good night for drum corps.

The.Blue Devils are very, very talented, but I just don't think they have the show to win this year.
The color guard is absolutely amazing.
I didn't see many mistakes at all, but if you go by who the crowd liked more, it's going to the Cadets. I think it'll be close though.

I want to marry a Juliet. I'm in love.
This show is one of my favorites this season.
I thought the brass were amazing. And the visual/drill was actually a lot better/impressive than I remember seeing on the fan network.

The only thing I don't like about the Cadets, was that the angels win too easily I think. I know they are Holy Name, but, I would've liked to see the battle go to the end.
They got two standing ovations. And they deserved them!
Drill was insane and clean (for early July) Music was beautiful (for any time).
BD better bring it tonight!!
(oh, the other thing I thought wasn't as good was when they are going back to get their instruments after the battle with the shiny sticks).

Wow. Loved the music! Sounded great! I thought the visual package was clean (until the end), but I feel that is because the tempo seems to be a nice comfortable tempo the majority of the show.
Guard was great! Seemed more mature than Academy.
Field drums were great! And brass licks in the middle of the show were solid.
But, I think they will peak early, and Academy (Troop, Gmen, etc.) can catch them by Atlanta or even San Antonio (imo).
Phone is almost of battery, so I'm going to keep it short. But,

I was actually born in England, so I'm exited for this BK!!!!

I think going after Cascades will really help the Academy. They are definitely in a whole other league.
I loved the first movement, but I'm actually not crazy about the rest of the show. I still enjoyed it, but didn't love it like I did the opener.
But they are talented, and they move really really well. I thought I remember seeing the guard with balls on the fan network, but don't remember seeing those tonight.
Their drill flowed nicely, but I felt it repeated alot (which is probably the point).
Some of the brass licks were a little off, but they can sure put out some good sound! And was really strong aside from a few minor issues.
Got the crowd on their feet, but the Utah show was always one of my favorites because the crowd usually always gives it up).
This will be a contender for finals.

Verdict is in. I like the Academy's new digs. Now, let's see them move in them.

This is a new Cascades! They came out strong, and only let their sound die a few times. Endurance will make this show much better and an even higher level for them.
The box got a few chuckles when they used it, which I'm not sure was the goal.
The brass had a few double tonguing that wasn't clean, but wasn't horrible.
Guard was creative and relatively clean.
Overall, I was very surprised with them. They seem to be really "going for it". Once they get stronger, show will clean up tremendously.

Good show. They seemed tired even in the beginning. A lot of the smaller step size moves didn't help out, they looked like they were trudging.
Guard was strong, but looked like they bit off more than they could choose. Their uniforms weren't too flattering, especially for the guys. I think they were promoting a different kind of "ride".
I'm sorry for the lack of percussion updates. I don't know too much about that, except the obvious.
I did think their brass musically could be the strong section of this young corps. Keep it up! It'll be great by the end!
(also, loved that each flag had a name of a different city, and the airplane visuals).
Next up, Cascades! I already like the bright colors!

Revolution on next. Looks to be about the same size, but maybe five more guard. Sharp uniforms.

Gold had a "cute" show. The audio I felt added to what they wanted to do. You can tell they are young, but they put out some decent sounds during park and barks.
Guard was strong. The soloist on sabre had beautiful movements, but needs to sick her high tosses beter. Had a few kids who moved extremely well in the brass and percussion and a few pages were really strong. You can tell the sections they work more.
They said this is their first time out of California, and I don't think it'll be their last! They seem to have a strong foundation to grow.
(also, anyone know why they have no gold in their uniforms? I get they used gold brass, but was still kinda surprised no gold color in uniform).

Canadian marching band was good. Gave time for more people to settle in their seats for.Gold.

I got to see both BD and Phantom rehearse since they were at neighboring high schools. This was my first time watching a corps rehearse since I aged out last year, and they both set them selves up for a great show tonight. I can't wait!

I'm actually getting more excited for the non G8 battles that seem to be happening than the one for the championship.
