  1. they aren't...they're 20 times better than last year. Their show is entitled "And the Wars that followed". they're depicting life overseas and what a soldier goes through. I've seen this show for myself and have to say they are medal worthy again...if they don't medal thats ok...they're gonna have the audience on their feet. Their floor is cut up into different shapes and painted different colors...maybe an effect of abstract camouflage? but the show starts off with this underlying heartbeat and a man speaking (I think the speech is from Hurt Locker). I'm excited that this show is not actually based off of a movie this year but instead it's more emotional than ever. The performers start out by searching for something as if making sure the coast is clear after being thrown into unknown territory and not even 30 seconds into the show the rifle line proves their point...their rifle line is one of the best I've seen out of this group. There is an insane rifle ripple this year...longer than 2010 "The Passion". The Dance line this year is one to watch...they only dance for the first half then pick up flag but they do this reenactment of soldiers being checked by their officer and as they do that rifle line is exchanging over them. Its one moment after the other with this group this year. You don't have to like them, but, they are going to keep everyone on the edge of their seats if not standing. Don't miss this group at WGI this year. You want to see them.

Wow.....you sound a lot like an insider to this program. Thats a lot of information about their show that they haven't even released yet. Granted, yes it is true. Braddock is really freaking amazing this year. Their rifle line is the strongest that I have seen in years.

West Broward is a SUPER emotional show to me. I had goosebumps watching them. It is a 9/11 show but I like the way they pull it off. It isnt disrespectful in the least.

Flanagan is amazing. They always have been and always will be. I dont know where they got their boys from this year but #### they are GOOD!

I think the silent killer this year in South Florida will be Cypress Bay Open. Talk about a well designed and well performed show!!! I love watching the growth this program has had through the years.

  2. I can not wait to see Pride, Zydeco and SCV. Those three are on the top of my list to see.

But I am really interested in what Onyx and Braddock are going to do this year. What kind of show are they going to come up with? A crowd pleasure or just something strange again?

I am really hoping that First Flight and Ars Nova get the credit they deserve.

I also really wish that NEI would somehow make an appearance soon.

  3. and why 2 regionals in Orlando? Now does that seem fair?

There are a couple reasons why...

South Florida only has like 1 or 2 gyms that could actually hold a regional and there is no guard that wants to host it due to cost.

Its sad because even if there was a Ft. Lauderdale/Miami show, it would just look like any other SFWGA show because FFCC guards barely come down here.

There just isn't any really good turn out to have a show in South Florida.

  4. For the record....Jill and Robby are the most removed instructors in the business when it comes to the WGI political world you refer to in your post. It has been very obvious this season, that a small group of people have been bashing Premonition on this forum. Often times it comes across as a backhanded bashing of NEI. I think the video of Premonition will speak volumes about their place in finals. Focus, Clarity and Intent are all criteria on the judges sheets. No where can I find the bashing and personal comments that I have seen on this forum. At any rate, congratulations to the members of Premonition.

I am sooo glad that you said that. I have been in the same circuit as Premonition for the past couple of years and I really wish people would take the time to see how the program has grown. Jill and Robby weren't going to come in and make Premonition the new NEI....come on people....thats a high expectation. I feel the growth of performance from last year was in leaps and bounds.

And on the note my favorites were:

    Zydeco

    Black Watch

    Trumbull

    Carmel

    Orlando Visual

    USF

    Cypress Indep

    South Shore

    Alter Ego

    Braddock

    Mechanicsburg HS

    Cypress Bay

  5. It is completely possible for scores and groups to move around. However, if you are in IW and haven't broken 80 yett I wouldn't expect to be in finals. I don't expect groups between 18th-23rd to move around much. The groups in the rankings (which to remind everyone are just that rankings, a guess, a projected score) in the 12th to 17th range tend to move around a bit.

To your comments on some of the groups you called out:

Opus X does what they do. They move beautifully and stick to a style. They may not be "setting new standards" but I didn't realize that you had to be doing that in IW class to be successful. For some reason on this forum people think that is so important. If you are doing colorguard and doing it right you get rewarded for it. Braddock independent is doing just that. They are doing colorguard and doing it well!!

I agree with the comment of Black Watch. I feel like this show is much stronger than last years, but there are a lot of groups who have stronger shows than their productions last year.

I have not taken the time to watch Cypress, First Flight, or Diamante.

In regards to your comments on Premonition, I have seen them live and truly enjoy the show. Yes Robby and Jill from NEi may have gone in to help with the production but there are still elements of Premonition there. It is just not the in your face, aggressive shows they have done the last few years. You know its funny that people are calling out Opus X for not setting new standards, but Premonition changes their look for a season and people are up in arms that they look like NEI -.- (I think Premo is being scored correctly. The performers SELL their show)

I have not watched Paramount but they are being scored too high??

Here are my predictions for the top 15 in IW:

    1. SCV

    2. Onyx

    3. Sac or Braddock

    4. Sac or Braddock (This is going to be a great thing for another Florida IW group or an upset. It's whoever has the better show!)

    5. Fantasia

    6. Corona

    7. Zydeco

    8. Alter Ego

    9. Opus X

    10. Cypress

    11. Black Watch

    12. First Flight

    13. Premonition

    14. Diamante

    15. Ars Nova

I hope with all my heart that Braddock medals. They have done nothing but build up that program and the show this year is NOTHING but amazing. I don't believe South FL has come home with a IW medal....and I think it's about time.

I think Black Watch is AMAZING!!! Their show is sooooo visual pleasing. Corona is genius with their show.

But I do have to say my favorite is Zydeco! Their flag line book is soooooooo good! I would kill to have that kind of work.

And as far as the "setting new standards" statement....I think there is a line. Yes, Onyx has a unique show but if you're going to set new standards, you should have a show everyone can understand.

  6. they can have the design staff and good show design, but if they cant execute it, then they lose the aura. its all about making the equipment look second nature. <--- that is their one obstacle. HOWEVER, that is not the entire team, there is some great talent on that floor this year.

I was shocked when I saw Premonition...but in a really good way. They are doing something sooo different for them and I think with a little more practice they will achieve it. The level of maturity has gone up from their performers. For once they aren't having a "grrrrr" face.

I still found the show and the performers to be very entertaining. I applaud the fact that Premonition reached out to a different staff and wanted to try something new.

Good Luck Premonition!! I can't wait to see how your team grows throughout the season.

  7. I heard that they asked a couple of South FL guards to host it and all of them said no because of cost and little profit.

I am very upset to hear about no South FL show myself. It was really good for all the units in SFWGA who can't travel and a great show for the B class and Novice guards.
