  1. As much as we discuss the corps themselves, I tought it would be interesting to see what people thought of how DCI produced quarters. Here's a few of my thoughts:

    - It's great they are using more of Will Pitts. He brings a fresh perspective. More of that please. Has Will gained a smidgin since the murder?

    - Re-do the Summer Games logo. It's outdated and antique.

    - I didn't find Roddy or DD as annoying as I usually do. DCI still needs some who are more current though.

    - I loved it when Roddy said to DD "Bluestars aren't as good as they used to be, are they?" and DD just looked at him like "Did you really just throw me that bomb?" But DD handled a bad question well.

    - Camera angles were very good

    - For the most part, cameras knew when to be where, and when not to be where

    - Sound quality was good where I was, except there was a noticeable sound delay vs. picture

    - The PR front field / back field didn't come across very well

    - The intermission music was good (not the usual 20 minutes of drum corps music from 1968)

I didn't notice a sound to video issue in our theater down in South Florida. i liked Will and Trish's additions to the presentation. And personally I like the old school summer music games intro, but I'm a little weird. XD

    GLASSMEN Drum & Bugle Corps

Two excellent rehearsal days in Indiana so far, looking forward to another today, Lucas Oil tomorrow! Go G-Men!

Too bad I can't make it to any of finals week this year. First time in 5 year I haven't gone.

  3. The scores from the Erie , Pa show have changed , the Glassmen score is now lower than before it went from 85.00 to an 84.850 not much but still

I think that from now on I'm going to print the results asap , I wish that I would've done it this time !

They were missing a judge (vis. performance), and I don't have the screen print to prove it, but they pulled the wrong score from another caption (was vis. ge., should have been and is now vis. ens.) to replace it, so they fixed that.

That results in a -.400 for Glassmen, -.150 for Academy, -.300 for Spirit of Atlanta, no change for Trooper or Colts(same score in both vis. ge and vis. ens.), -.100 for Crossmen, -.200 for Pacific Crest, -.100 for Mandarins, +.150 for Teal Sound, no change for Jersey Surf, and -.150 for Cascades.

Now if I can find the proof of old scores and compare, maybe on my Facebook or a Twitter account.

    Hope that makes sense!

    Update: Found Twitter proof.

So I did my math right. YAY ME!! :w00t: :w00t:

  4. Also, glad to see that Academy, Glassmen, Troopers, and Spirit are not going to be able to complain about the placement of INT for once! :w00t:

Can't agree with you more... usually I just complain to myself and try to keep that off of here.

Edit: Linked another thread about this topic to hear. Any news on the judges?

  5. Worst Show Design:

Blue Stars - I respect a corps that aims high. Sometimes, though, when you aim that high and miss, that fall to earth hurts a bit more. I find too many disconnects with this show design, too much scattered focus and incoherence. It's a shame because I think what they were aiming for was ambitious (in a good way) and could have been very special, not just with the crowds but with the judges as well. Too many design miscalculations for my tastes.

Has anyone seen the Bourne movies, the are very segmented and until the end of the movies they may seem incoherent. Do I this is the best designed show? No. Worst? No.

It is just a little to scattered for the field to be great. If they utilized the scaffolding a little more, I think this could be a better show. But I also thinks it limits a corps whose drill in past years was great even through the props. I just don't see how this show is the worst designed of the year.

  7. It makes no sense as to why they were going on that early in the first place.

Its all based on last year for the small shows. I think the judges should know based on how late this is in the season, and it was back and forth early season and now again late season (it was all spirit in the middle). They both have good shows, I think finals will depend on which of Spirit, Academy, Troop and G-men throws down quarters and then backs it up semis.

  8. Don't apologize to me. lol I couldn't care less. I love 'em and they are so bad ###!

Plus, they're an excellent adaptation of a throwback uniform. It's unique, layered, detailed and just purely masculine. Love it!

I know it's a far cry from the bib/jacket look that everybody else fields, but I'm cool with that.

I just wish their was some sort of sleeves to connect the gaunlets... to me thats what i think is weird. Other than that they are ok. Much better that the some of the ones they a couple years.

  9. It would be too much fun if they play "We Are The Champions" for their new ending!

Called that a few weeks ago... but who knows.

Confirmed! No details, of course... my kid is more interested in texting his 'honey' than his Dad... tongue.gif

Thats what I always did. That is until I started dating my fiancee, who was marching with me. Took me a month of tour until I called the parents.
