So, just to be clear, do these scores mean that BDB and Oregon Crusaders are IN for another performance at Semi-Finals tomorrow night?
Also, it's really funny sitting here and listening to these conversations happening in the box while the telecast is still going....
Yes. BDB and OC are in. If SCVC beat Pioneer they are in. Spartans are the next OC corps that could make it. It's too early to tell.

I was wondering about the cinacast too. The show here starts at 5:30 central. Will that feature all 41 corps?
No. You will see the full shows for the top 15 and maybe snippets from the earlier ones.

Wow, over 700 people still here. Thanks for sticking around!
Don't you feel the love?

That is so sad...
The picture was serious culture shock for me... my image of Fran tends to be of him in 1977 when he came to Sun (at the age of, I don't know, 15, maybe?).
I wonder if Marty and Lenny look different now, too?
Yes, I have seen him in the interim, including last Sept. at the Sun Alumni dinner, but my old brain tends to store only so many images, I guess.
I'm like a Radio Shack Tandy-80 in a Pentium 4 Dual Core world.
too funny!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back once again to Marina Auto Stadium for the Finals competition of the 2009 Drum Corps Associates season. The DCP team is ready to go and we've got plenty of drum corps goodness waiting for you. The weather is perfect and we are about 20 minutes away from the step off of the first corps, Vigilantes. Stick around!
Waitting here in Boston, too.

Close, Kevin - Crosby and Young...
You had to hear this at Mile High Stadium in 1978... still haunts me.
Hi Ray. Nice to see you here.

Fan in the stands, "Hey, you guys are gonna be loud, aren't you?"
Considering how my ears are ringing after the William Tell tag, I think we have our answer.
HYPE!!!.... it's a Bridgemen thing.

Hymn to the Last Whale. Didn't know that's what this piece was. Also didn't know it was a Crosby, Stills, and Nash song.
Yep, from '78.

Kevin Gamon said about Crusaders Sr:
"I kid you not, there's a member of the horn line leaving the field using a walker. He's fine, just finished what he was doing and is getting off the field. He is most definitely hard corps."
That's Jim Lutz Sr. aka Papa Lutz. He's 80 and been doing drum corps as a marching member or instructor in the Boston area since he was 9. An original member of Lt Norman Princemen. Marched in the first Mission Drums. Actually Boston has four members that marched that show in the 50's.
The guy on the stool travels the farthest to do Boston. He comes from the north of Maine.

QUOTE(Lancerlady @ Aug 5 2006, 11:28 PM)
So what did Bridgemen score. OOps wrong thread...
Just trying to lighten things up y'all are getting intense about these scores..
Nope, not a wrong thread at all. The Bridgemen actually received a two point penalty for playing complete musical presentations last night (w/verse, chorus, coda, and ending). Then they got another 2 pt penalty for actually laying down a GROOVE in percussion (time plus licks!). Finally, they got a 1 point penaly for actually making the (almost) the entire audience smile, and laugh, and genuinely enjoy THEMSELVES as they enjoyed the Bridgemen!
End Quote-------
One of our show design staff told us that if we were competing we would receive a 5 point penalty for being entertaining.

I'm a relatively new drum corps fan (I've only really been into it for the past few years), but it was definitely an honor to see the Bridgemen last night. Thank you for playing, it was awesome!!!
You are very very welcome.
I'm still trying to figure out who enjoyed themselves more. The fans or the corps.

Here we go again with the PC crowd f###ing something up. If they don't like it, they can stay home. :P

This thread reminded me that I haven't looked at ebay's drum corps stuff recently. So I go over to check it out and what comes up?
77 items found for drum corps
(Just a coincidence I tell myself)

Thanks for posting that, Sam.
It was a sad day in American history when the SCOTUS made that ruling.
